About the property

Savannah, GA, USA | Historic District, Savannah, GA, USA

What's the best way to experience the quaint charm of Savannah and also be in walking distance of your most anticipated tourist spots? The answer is by staying in one of Southern Belle's Savannah vacation rentals. We have a huge selection of vacation homes Savannah to choose from, whether you're looking for a cozy one bedroom or multiple bedrooms for a large group. All of our vacation rentals Savannah GA are completely stocked and furnished for your convenience.

The Charlton Townhouse property is one of our better vacation rentals Savannah GA to fit a family, or even two smaller families. It has three bedrooms and two and a half bathrooms, and can host as many as six guests. There are two bedrooms with king beds, one with a queen bed and then a sleeper sofa. It includes a number of deluxe amenities like a washer and dryer, BBQ grill, patio, gourmet kitchen, off-street parking and more. All of our Savannah vacation rentals boast excellent creature comforts and standards like free wireless and flatscreen TVs throughout are just a couple. The location is also a good one on the east side of the Historic District between East Charlton Street and East Macon Street.

We aim to impress with our vacation homes Savannah and the Charlton Townhouse does so right away with a wide open floor plan when entering. You can see the sitting area, the glossy wood floors as well as the kitchen, bar and dining room just beyond. The long staircase features an open balcony area that looks down into the main room. You'll enjoy lots of track lighting as well as plenty of large windows to let in natural light. The kitchen is walk-through and offers fully modern appliances as well as all necessary cooking tools. You can't beat having home-cooked meals on vacation. The bedrooms are well-appointed with relaxing beds, lots of windows, ceiling fans and more. You won't have any trouble getting a good night's sleep here.

Getting around the city from our Savannah vacation rentals is a snap. The city is very conducive to walking and you can typically visit a lot of attractions in a day just by walking. However, you can also use the Old Town Trolley, Chatham Area Transit or more eclectic transportation like pedicabs or a horse and buggy. Some of the favorite attractions in Savannah include Forsyth Park, City Market, River Street, Colonial Cemetery and the Mercer House.

Forsyth Park offers 26 acres of picturesque gardens and walking trails, not to mention the ornate iron fountain dating back to the 1800s. In the heart of the Historic District, you'll find the six acre Colonial Park Cemetery. No longer open to new burials, the cemetery operated for over a century between 1750 and 1853. It's one of the popular stops on ghost tours as well. The Mercer House was famously featured in the "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil" franchise and is still owned by the family. River Street, like the name suggests, is a long concourse bordering the Savannah River. You'll find all manner of shops, restaurants, galleries and attractions here. If River Street is a great daytime spot, then the best night spot is City Market. Bursting with jazz clubs, bars and open-air cafes, it's a great place to find some nightlife.

Along with exploring everything Savannah has to offer, you may want to take the 30 minute drive from our vacation homes Savannah over to Tybee Island where warm waves and soothing salt breezes await. This is a small barrier island with the Atlantic Ocean on one side and the Savannah River on the other. Beach going and water activities are very popular and you can either rent equipment or book a charter out. The top stop is the Tybee Light Station and Museum on the north half of the island. Another great place for families and kids is the Tybee Marine Science Center, which features a number of exhibits showing the unique ecology of the island.

Do you want to do something special while staying in our vacation rentals Savannah GA? Then be sure to look into all the special events held in Savannah and Tybee during the year. We can always provide a current schedule, but the following are some previously popular selections:

• Savannah Black Heritage Festival in February

Great location, VERY noisy

  • 3 of 5

Stayed in this location for our sons wedding 3/9-13. The photos do accurately represent the apartment. Parking can be challenging in this area but we were always lucky to find a spot in the parking deck very close by. The best part of the apartment is location. There are some major drawbacks: noise & lack of heavy curtains to keep the light out at night. The first night we literally had people screaming until 4:45. Even the college kids with us were complaining about the noise! Second, the blinds do not fully close to block out all the light at night and it floods the room so much that you can almost read a book without turning on the lights. We had to request better pillows and additional towels. The rental company provides 1 towel/washcloth per person. SAY WHAT!?!? We you fly in for a big event you are not packing towels OR wanting to do laundry. Rental company did provide 4 more additional towels and new pillows. I have rented several times VRBO but we rated this was as 'meh'.

Good location

  • 4 of 5

Stayed in this property with a friend for the Savannah Book Festival. We found this property to be an excellent location for our purposes. Was within easy walking distance of all the events we attended both at Trustees Theatre on E. Broughton and the Saturday events in the historic district. It is also easy to walk to all shopping venues at City Market and on River Street. The property looks exactly as shown in the pictures provided and it is impeccably clean. However, if you are a light sleeper, this property is not for you. Since it fronts busy W. Broughton, there is a LOT of noise at night both from people and traffic. Our biggest issue with this property was with the entrance door to the building. You must enter an access code and if you do not open the door as soon as it says 'access granted', you have to go through the whole process again. Even with both of us standing there, we had issues with the entrance every time we used it. BUT, we also encountered a problem one evening when we were trying to exit the property from the inside. The building entrance door was locked and would not unlock. We could see the sensor above the door on the inside that is supposed to detect movement and allow people to exit. But we tried to open the door multiple times before the sensor detected us and let us leave. The entrance/exit door is definitely a problem area and one that needs to be addressed asap. Other than this issue, we enjoyed our stay in this loft rental.

Bird Baldwin House

  • 5 of 5

When I started looking for a place to stay in Savannah and found the Bird-Baldwin House, I knew this was where we would want to stay. It is historical, beautiful and a cozy 1 bedroom, walking distance to anything you would want to visit. The plus for me was the washer & dryer. We sat out on our enclosed porch and drank coffee and enjoyed the weather. Just a beautiful home away from home.

Great Location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this property for St. Patty's day. It is the perfect location to easily get to the river front, market place and all the historic sites you would like to see. The building is secure and the area safe with many resturants, shops and parks within the block. There is an elevator so you don't have to lug all your bags up and down the steps. There are no parking spaces that come with the rental, however there is meter parking out front, but we could not find any spots bease of the busy holiday so we ended up parking in a garage. There is an alley right next to the building so it is easy to unpack the car before you find a parking spot. The apartment is beautiful. High ceilings, enormous windows, fantastic comfy furniture, great layout, super clean and has just about everything you could need and most items seem brand new. It would seem that a counter depth fridge would do better in the space as the door does not completely open as it hits the island. Also there is not a hairdryer, so be sure to bring your own. The windows are old and beautiful which leads to lots of light and sound transfer so if you are a light sleeper be sure to bring your ear plugs and eye mask. It may be quieter when it is not crazy St. Patrick's day. It is a great place and I would highly recommend it.
