Youbou Cabin Rental Photos and Description

TWO acres of incredible scenery with forest and flat land for parking

The entire Two Acres has a view of the lake and mountains and clear view of the Lake Front and 120 foot wharf where everyone gathers - which is safe and easy to touch base with friends and family.

Lakefront property is pristine and clear, clean water. There are no large stones or deep spots on the lake edge all the way along the property 165 feet - it does not have a steep slope but gradual with sand and gravel.

This Bavarian style cabin is unique as it has a balcony that looks out, to the lake and gets morning sunshine starting at 8:30 a.m. The cabin has a 24' TV that swings from the bedroom area to the resting area to view as you wish or have children sit on the settee to watch TV instead of the bedroom.

-Small and large groups enjoy the privacy and natural setting...along the beachfront , tents can be put up for privacy or a comfortable distance from the Fire-Pit area - The two acres surround the cabin and can be used for TENTS or VEHICLE parking -

Hedges front the beach area and give privacy and shade when the sun is high. The beach area is a gentle slope into the water .. with sand and gravel. The wharf is large enough to lay down mats for laying on or put deck chairs on and moor boats - a row of Logs have been put out into the lake 175 feet for swimmers safety.

Outside covered kitchen is unique as it is only a few feet from water edge allowing families to watch children.

Outside covered area with firepit and bar has a 12 foot wide, padded bench seat that is used for laying, reading or relaxing during the day and is magical listening to the waves lapping on the shore. From the covered firepit area you can hear the small waterfall from the creek only 15 feet away and as it is a Salmon Enhancement creek with small fry that grow daily under the bridge.

Kitchen has three sinks, clean drinking water with a new Britta filter and kitchen outfitted with microwave, new large propane table top cooking area and all cooking needs.

This is a rustic area and has natural habitat to be enjoyed at every turn with a large Fern walk area if someone wants more peace and privacy,

The NEW wharf is large enough to put deck chairs on it while watching the sunset or sunrise.

Keywords: Wharf, pristine lake, Park like setting, covered Post and Beam bbq area with full kitchen facilities outside with seating and two bars, 12 bar stools - fireplace with some wood supplied, use of two acres alongside creek going through property, paved road to property,

Why The Owner chose British Columbia

Lakefront was always my dream and this property was enhanced with the creek that winds through the property and makes it even more magical.

What makes this cabin unique

The property is parklike with hedges on the water edge for privacy. This is property that is so private everyone that arrives comments on how unique it is. There is a Fern Walk with ponds on the top lot that people love to sit in and read.. many birds, ducks, squirls, owls, otters and mink wander through the area giving it a wilderness feel.

Another great stay

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year in a row . I took my sister and her kids for 5 days all had a fabulous time especially the small children . As usual noni b was a great host to everyone. The older boys brought their ski boats up and some of their friends came by with their boats, all were welcome and there is plenty of room for all the boats. A special thanks for letting my niece and hubby bring their small dog .This property has to one of the best on the whole lake. We will certainly be back next year for our 3 rd year for another great holiday. Thanks again noni b

Most Enjoyable

This is a great set up for large groups, mostly suited to groups with RV's. The hi lite for our family reunion was gathering on the dock at r around the fire at night. It was a famous lay reunion and vacation that we will remember for a long time.

Owner's Response: A wonderful large group with lots of high energy and caring - people coming from all over with stories to tell. I accommodated a short 4 day stay which turned out to be perfect weather with sunny skies and a lot of laughter.

Had loads of fun! Very accommodating.

  • 4 of 5

Our family, to include 4 or 5 adults and 6 to 9 children at various times throughout our 8 day stay, enjoyed the cabin and property to its fullest. The grownups put up three tents to accommodate everyone and Grandma and Grandpa took advantage of the comfortable bed in the little cabin.

Along with combing the land for interesting bugs and foliage, the kids spent hours jumping off the dock and swimming to their hearts content. We brought along some blow-up rafts which entertained them for hours as wel.

The outdoor covered kitchen hosted a beautiful four burner gas stovetop and separate BBQ which met all our cooking needs to the nth. The shelves and tables were stocked with every conceivable “thing” you would ever need from pots to bowls to plates to cutlery to coffee makers, micro-wave, toaster, etc. etc. etc. The evenings spent around the fire-pit were made even more special with some pretty cool lighting.

Because of the size of our party, we made the decision to rent the second outdoor toilet facility from Noni and were happy with our decision. One toilet for that many people was simply not enough.

Noni, by the way, is one special lady who eagerly helps wherever she can. She's never too far away if you have questions or concerns or simply want to talk. Her cabin, situated on the property (next to the outdoor kitchen), is only steps away and easily accessible - in more ways than one. She was very patient with the youngest member of our family (6 years old) who seemed drawn up those steps for a quick knock on the door and a little chat!

The only negative aspect to the stay were the numbers of wasps buzzing around the cooking area. Just as soon as the bacon or chicken or steak were being readied for the fire, the little pests appeared. Fortunately, they didn’t seem interested in us while we were eating... or perhaps that’s because we were always sitting around the fire. No one was stung, however, so that was a relief. Nevertheless, I will bring three or four traps with me next time...

All in all, I think it was a special week for all of us and I wouldn’t hesitate to spend another mini vacation there again. Thank you Noni!

Great camping

  • 4 of 5

Very nice property for camping with friends. Clean and well maintained. Noni checked often with us to be sure we had what we needed. Shower is nice and clean with lots of hot water. Good size dock for enjoying the lake. My favorite spot was the covered firepit area - good for enjoying even rainy days outdoors.

Thank you Noni!

Owner's Response: This group of family and friends were just great - the men leaving early in the morning to go fishing regardless of the outcome - one picture of the one man a hundred feet way out on the logs...and the other man on the wharf - both casting as the sky gave a spectacular sunset ! Having this group was a gift closing the summer heat wave with leaves beginning to drift down, and the coming of Fall. I hope this happy group come again.

Owner's Response: A small group with two boats who loved to fish and enjoy great friendship. A genuine best friend's goal to have A Celebration of Life of a former owner of Lakefront on Cowichan Lake in Youbou with the Son spreading ashes on the waters - Sincere joy with true friends was shared that week and I wish them all the Peace of the Valley. I look forward to a visit again anytime.

Thank you so much to NoniB!! Our group of friends and family had an amazing week at Shady Akres and the owner NoniB couldn't have been a better hostess! Everything you need is supplied, and if there's something you need NoniB will do everything to accommodate you! From young to old, we were all spoilt and will remember our vacation forever! Paradise!
