Lovely property, great location
The staff, Delia and Marta work hard to keep the property tidy, but speak no English. The house itself is spacious and furnished nicely. Loved the location to town and the beach. A very pretty setting-

We had the most amazing time at your villa. Delfin and Martha are the best caretakers!!! They were so helful and we are so glad we got to meet them.
Villa Moopich was exactly what we were hoping for!! The accommodations were amazing! It was great having the kitchen/living room/entertaining area as a separate building right behind the pool and deck area in the front yard. The lodging is 6 separate bedrooms/bathrooms in a separate detached structure that is behind the kitchen/living room building. The lodging consisted of 3 rooms downstairs and 3 rooms upstairs and I think they all had 2 queen or king size beds and full bathrooms that were in great condition. We had a family of 10 people, but I think you could sleep twice that many there. All of the AC units worked great and water pressure was great. The utility room with 2 washers & 2 dryers is in a separate building from everything else, so it doesn't bother you running any of them if you are trying to sleep or talk or whatever. Kitchen is stocked with all the dishes/glasses/pots/pans/utensils/etc if you plan on cooking. Also have a nice BBQ grill. One of the highlights of our trip were the couple that takes care of housekeeping and exterior grounds. There names are Marta & Delio, and by the time we left Villa Moopich, we felt like they were a part of our family! We paid them xtra to cook a lot of our meals and do our grocery shopping for us, and it was worth every penny of it. Marta is an incredible cook and we had Delio BBQ on the grill for us one night and it was outstanding. They keep the house inside and outside grounds in immaculate condition. They do not speak English, but my sister knows a little Spanish and was able to communicate with them just fine and they helped us with numerous things daily. Delio also saved one of our rented bikes from being stolen one day. He would also remove the people that would sit on the private Villa Moopich lounge chairs/Palapas down on the beach, which will happen time to time. There are a lot more restaurants on this small island than I expected, but most of them are really small and if you have a party of 10 or more like we did, expect it to take longer than you are probably accustomed to. One person may get there food 10 min earlier than someone else in your party. Some restaurants that were recommended to us that I think were really good were Viva Zapata for Mexican & seafood, Luuma for Eclectic upscale seafood & other (and they have a nice bar), Los Peleones for Italian & seafood. There are several good pizza places, try the lobster pizza! For Tarpon fishing, find Alahandro the sand flea!! Rob W
Holbox and Villa Moopich was dreamy. Our group of 18 people ranged in age from 6 months to 70+ and Moopich was absolutely perfect for our diverse crew. The location is terrific--hard to beat a Villa with a pool in the front yard, whispering coconut palms all around, and a lovely beach a few yards beyond. The sleeping quarters are separated from the main house by a courtyard. This is terrific for a mixed group with mixed schedules. The caretakers were reliable and helpful (having a spanish speaker in your party is a plus). We were there in April, and mosquitos were minimal except on the kayak trip into the mangroves (if you try this, really discuss route with your guide--it's a very interesting trip, but our route took us 100% against current the entire way :-)--good work out...). I suggest taking along a compact speaker if you enjoy music. We bought one in the local market after some searching around. Also, rent a couple of bikes for getting around. We enjoyed Marta's cooking a couple of evenings, and wandered to local restaurants on others. One highlight was catching the local deep sea fishing contest and party. Another was adventuring out to Cabo Catoche (highly recommended although getting there can be a little choppy, it is magical). One of my favorite adventures was horseback riding. There are six horses on the entire island and one little rancherito. The sunset ride was magical. We all want to go back! Gracias y hasta la proxima!!
