About the property

House in Aldona, 3 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, sleeps 8

Aldona is a pleasant village in North Goa that is redolent of the Old Goa charm. It is composed of old turn of the century homes with large tracts of land cultivated with fruit trees. Unlike other places in Goa, the apartment culture has not pervaded the landscape and you mostly find ancestral bungalows and villas with families that have lived therein for generations.

The Refuge is located in an especially secluded area of this quiet village. The neighborhood is predominated by old Goan families and their warmth, hospitality and charm exudes and pervades the area. The 200sqm bungalow is built in the period style and has an English garden on the street facing side and a fruit plantation at the rear. The plantation is dominated by large, old trees some of which grow up to 100 ft tall. There are numerous jackfruit, coconut, banana, chikoo trees and the area is dotted by over 70 pineapple plants. Beyond the plantation is heavily forested land that lends complete privacy to the cottage.

In spite of its seclusion, The Refuge is perfectly located - it is 5 km from Mapusa and 8km from Panjim, the two major cities of Goa. Mapusa is Goas second largest city, over here you find large open air markets that sell everything from fresh fruit, metas, vegetables and spices to bargain clothing, footwear and jewellery. There are restaurants, delicatessens and bakeries here for the gourmet appetites. Friday market is a bustling scene redolent with aromas and charm and practically all of the surrounding residents come to shop in a loud and chaotic environment.

The beach and bar lifestyle of Goa is about 20 min away and all the major beaches of Candolim, Calangute and Anjuna are equally accessible within that driving time frame.

The Refuge is ideal for long term stay in Goa by families who not only want to participate in the Goan lifestyle but who also require centrality to schools and businesses. The bungalow is semi-furnished, which is to say that it has all the amenities necessary for a comfortable stay refrigerator, gas stove, dining table, sof, big-screen TV, beds without any of the frills that make up a normal home. The bungalow has three bedrooms, the master bedroom plus attached study on the lower floor and two comfortable bedrooms on the upper storey. In addition there are two extra rooms in the basement that can be used as guest rooms or for storage.

We prefer long term stay guests who will enjoy the bungalow throughout the year and will love the old Goa charm combined with the peaceful ambience.
