About Greg and Carol Jackson
Carol and Greg are native Houstonians who moved to Austin in 1996, although Greg worked as a musician and Carol attended UT in Austin in the 70's. Greg has returned to being a full time musician and Carol now practices acupuncture in our home and also in a clinic. Please let us know if you are interested in an Acupuncture Treatment, Massage, or Herbal Consultation.
Greg and Carol Jackson purchased this Apartment in 2005
Why Greg and Carol Jackson chose Hyde Park
We had lived out in the Hill Country and decided that we wanted to live in town when Carol started her acupuncture practice. We fell in love with the Hyde Park neighborhood and neighbors, as well as our 100+ year old Victorian home. Greg is an accomplished builder and carpenter, so the wonderful old house offers many remodeling project opportunities - we're not quite finished!
What makes this Apartment unique
We love living here in the historic Hyde Park neighborhood where we actually know and visit with our neighbors. This is a place where everyone gets out for walks, jogs, and bike rides and everyone takes the time to get to know one another. We know our guests will experience this first hand as they walk to one of the nearby restaurants or other closeby attractions

This was our second stay at this wonderful apartment in the trees. The neighborhood, Hyde Park. Historic, friendly, green, walkable, interesting (not at all cookie cutter) and located close to UT and downtown. Wonderful well-established and locally owned restaurants, groceries, bakeries, and several bars within easy walking distance. Captures the heart and soul of Austin. The apartment. Really good well-designed space with a 40’s style (tile counters and bathroom floors, doors, door knobs), tastefully decorated in an understated sort of way. Comfortable bed, bedside tables and lamps on each side, good closet space (with enough hangers!) All modern amenities, well-equipped kitchen, spacious bathroom, washer and dryer. (It’s an upstairs apartment, which may be an issue for some.) The hosts. Greg and Carol are a delight. Their casa was perfect for the two of us, and we look forward the our next stay.
Hyde Park Jewel
The Jacksons have a Hyde Park jewel. Tastefully done and most comfortable. The living room could use a chair, table and lamp in place of the chest and magazine rack. Just a suggestion. Thanks for providing a wonderful experience.
Could use some good ol' Austin HiTech
The owners are very nice, as is their property. Yes, it is in a very convenient location. Wish the local channels had better reception (actually would prefer cable TV), and was surprised when internet was down, which also eliminated live streaming as an option. Overall, I would recommend this VRBO.
Beautiful property and well stocked. We will definitely be back.
I love the Hyde Park neighborhood and have stayed at several places in the area, and this one I would rate the best. Perfectly clean, lots of thoughtful details, and the space is great. I was only there for a couple of days, but would stay here longer term, no question. In-unit laundry is a great feature, and the kitchen is the best I've seen. Owner communication was also top notch. Thanks for having us, and I'm looking forward to my next stay!
Our 10th wedding anniversary brought us to Austin, Texas for some sightseeing, Texas brisket, BBQ, and music. This garage apartment was just as it describes on the VRBO site. Clean, comfortable, and all the amenities you may need. Loved the soaps and shampoo! Very quiet neighborhood and restaurants/shops/grocery within walking distance. Vino Vino wine bar and restaurant was great - wine and appetizers - Julio's was cute spot for taco lunch and delicious. Used Uber for transportation into downtown Austin - easily accessible, quick response, and courteous drivers - good experiences - even 5AM trip to airport! Again, great accommodation here.
Located in central austin, just north of the university of texas campus, the hyde park historic district is the oldest planned community in austin, having been established in the 1890's.
Consisting of a mix of victorian and bungalow style homes, hyde park is a quiet and peaceful oasis in the middle of everything austin has to offer.
Within a short walking distance are great restaurants, a post office, a grocery store, an awesome bakery, a cheese specialty shop, an excellent wine bar, a live theatre, and the elizabet ney museum.
Within a short drive are all of austin's main attractions, including the ut campus, zilker park, barton springs, deep eddy, mount bonnell, lake austin, lady bird lake/jogging trail, south congress, the state capital building, and downtown/6th street, to name a few.
