Step away from stress and time and into 'An Artist's View'. Our beautiful beachfront home guides you into relaxation, and rewards you with opportunities for offshore fishing, swimming, beaching, reading, kayaking, bird watching, napping on our beautiful decks or simply breathing. Sink into our living room furniture, enjoy the glow of the fireplace and reacquaint yourself with loved ones. An Artist's View was designed to provide separate 'play areas' for conversation and communing but all open to one another. Upstairs you may enjoy playing a game or two of pool on our regulation size pool table or watch a movie on the 46' HD TV with DVD player. For conventional entertainment you will find Galveston conveniently within 20 minutes. Whether you are inside or out, An Artist's View will feed your soul and deliver the vacation you deserve.

'An Artist's View' is built remotely on beautiful, sandy beach. Both upper and lower decks look out over dunes, rolling surf and 88 acres of unspoiled, nature-filled wetlands perfect for butterfly counting or bird watching where Brown Pelican's and others tour daily. The beach is quiet and allows for walks on uninterrupted sand for miles. Don't forget to bring a basket for the variety of shells you'll want to add to your collection. From our decks you can view the Bay behind us as well as crashing surf in front. Enjoy a happy hour or two on the upper deck and experience the amazing sunsets you'll find in late afternoon. Texas skies have never been bigger.

We hope you enjoy the natural environment that surrounds our home! Galveston is a short twenty minutes away.

About Walter P Wallace & Amanda E Wallace

This house is our baby! We named it quite appropriately 'An Artist's View' because of the spirit that awakens in you as you stay here. We built this house near Galveston to serve the concepts of luxury, comfort and community. Life pulls us in so many ways, how often do we get to play with, speak to and enjoy our families. We have spent many fabulous vacations with family, friends and family and friends. Watching the waves roll in and out sets our timing to a slower pace and we have found great peace, solitude and togetherness on our beautiful beach. We found Treasure Isle through renting vacation homes for Thanksgiving break. We were sold and hope you find peace and your perfect vacation in our home, 'An Artist's View'.

Walter P Wallace & Amanda E Wallace purchased this house in 2007

Why Walter P Wallace & Amanda E Wallace chose Texas Gulf Coast

Our family had been vacationing in Treasure Isle for 7 years before we came across the opportunity to build our beach house 'An Artist's View'.

What makes this house unique

We enjoy golf at Galveston Country Club and can arrange access for our renters. Our favorite time is early morning when we walk onto the beach before sunrise. Cast your pole in the ocean and sit down waiting to see what happens first...the sunrise or getting a hit from a red fish or trout.

Guestbook comments from the owner

What a great week. Weather and water and fishing were great the first 2 days, it was raining off and on and windy the next two so the perfect opportunity to simply relax and enjoy house and catch up on some quiet family time, and the sun came back out and water laid back down to close it out late Wednesday and Thursday. Fishing was awesome overall. Even on the two days it rained, it was dry and breezy at night so me and the son went across the highway to the Treasure Island residents/guests lighted pier at dark, flipped the timer on the lights, and caught more trout than we could keep before midnight. Caught four flounder too over there, that was a nice surprise. When the surf was quiet on Thursday - low swells, SE wind, and fairly clear water - we did good with tandem spec rigs (the ones with the jig head and the 3" rubber tail on them) and mullet lures and mirrolure 51mr. When it was rougher on Mon/Tue/Wed we didn't have success with anything artificial but did fair/good with live mullet and whatever pinfish we caught in the cast net. The surf was fairly brutal Tuesday and Wednesday once the front came through, 3 ft swells and 10-15 mph SW winds so I laid off fishing the surf for the most part and just relaxed. All the trout we caught off the pier across from the RV park were with the same tandem spec rigs in white. Some we fished with the rubber tails, some we fished with the tails pulled off and seemed to get the same number and intensity of strikes either way. I threw some jigs with copper penny color tails, some silver spoons, and amixed bag of lures as well both in the surf and off the pier and didn't get many bites, just on those tandem rigs. They'd hit the other stuff but wouldn't take it, sort of pull and release. I talked to a lot of the big cluster of guys in the water Saturday morning (17 ppl at one point) and they all said they had been killing it for a couple weeks on just about anything they threw in the water but I only saw three fish caught that morning - one was a dink I caught and another guy caught two. Never saw more than 4 ppl fishing the cove off the rocks the rest of the week. We quit counting trout but between my son and I we caught probably 50 trout over the entire week plus the flounder and a couple of smaller black drum, and of those trout half were slot size and we kept 8, enough for dinner twice and some fillets to cook at home this weekend. Very relaxing and satisfying week overall for all of us. And zero seawe

Spacious and comfortable

  • 5 of 5

Our group had the very best time. The house is very spacious and beautiful - basically providing a home away from home but at the beach. We able to enjoy the beach, fish and take shelter from the elements. As a group, we caught three redfish including a 36" one - it was returned to the waters.

We look forward to staying here for our annual trip for the years to come.

Owner's Response: So glad to hear your "guys" weekend was a success. I know you had to deal with the rain and wind but glad you found the time to do some fishing on our beach. The trout should be coming in soon for all future renters this spring!

Beautiful home, lots of space for everyone to spread out.

  • 5 of 5

This rental exceeded our expectations. The layout of the house meant we had spectacular views from almost any point of the house we were in. The upstairs master bedroom led out to a large beautiful private deck that overlooked the ocean - the view at night under the stars made it feel like we were on a cruise ship. For the majority of the visit, we had my daughter and her husband honeymooning upstairs and it was perfect! They could keep to themselves when they wanted and join us when they wanted to as well. The pool table paid off big time - it was great to be able to have some kids watching a movie and others hanging around the pool table, yet we were all in the same room. The kitchen was very well stocked - we had everything we needed. We loved the dining room table - we managed to fit 12 of us plus the baby once we pulled over a couple extra chairs. So nice for everyone to be able to eat together! The bathrooms were luxurious and seemed recently updated - nice stone tile - very Mediterranean. We loved having a washer and dryer - getting to bring home clean clothes instead of dirty laundry was a huge plus. The house is situated right on the beach, so the views were completely unobstructed, and the house also happens to be at the end of a circle, so the kids could ride their bikes in a safe area. Lots of privacy, lots of fun, lots of r&r. We will definitely be back.

Excellent house, outstanding location

  • 5 of 5

Not our first stay here. Love the beachfront proximity, quiet neighborhood, spacious and open layout of the house, and great beach and fishing. Long walks, lazy days in and around the water, quality time spent with family. The owners maintain the house in good condition and it was clean upon arrival with all amenities ready. Fishing right out the front door, big decks for relaxing and sunbathing, good layout for both family time and quiet relaxation. There aren't many rentals that have both sunrise and sunset views with deck seating to take in both, this one does. Can't wait to go back again. This year the water and the beach were as clean as I can remember in over 40 years of beach vacations on Bolivar, Galveston, and Follet's Islands, it made for a very memorable week with loved ones and some great dinners with the fish caught.

We had a total of 15-18 people there during our week stay. Because of the role away beds and extra cots there was plenty of comfortable places for everyone to sleep. The location of the home is brilliant because there is no neighbors and your view is unobstructed. Everything you needed was in the home except what they tell you to bring. Your own beach towels, paper towels, zip locks, paper products ect. Our favorite place to sit was the deck and because of the breeze it was lovely in the morning and evening. It was the nicest house in our section for sure and we liked how we were at the end. Less crowded. The Wallaces were wonderful to deal with. So was Cindy who handles things on sight. The only thing I would caution on is taking your stuff back to the house at night because we did "lose" 5 of our beach chairs between 2 nights. They were the nice ones from Costco. Oh well live and learn they must have really needed them to come all the way down to the end to find those chairs. We had an amazing time. Five stars for sure. Enjoy!

Great Family Vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with an extended family of 10. The house is large and offers enough space for everyone. It has a huge kitchen that is well stocked with anything you will need. Our whole group could sit around the 10 seat table. There's even a high chair for the little one. It is right at the beach so you can go back and forth with ease. The teenagers loved the TV room / pool table area. Lots of books if you need something to read. The beach is nice and it is not very crowded. Great parking area underneath with room to grill and play bean bags. Be prepared for some mosquitoes. Not the owners fault. It is a long way to the nearest shopping, so stop and get what you need. You will not want to leave once you get there!! This is a great house!!

Our home is on a very remote beach. Both decks are over the sand dunes looking out over the surf. The beach is quiet and remote and allows for walks on uninterrupted sand for miles. From our decks you can view the Bay behind us as well as the crashing surf in front. There are 88 acres of unspoiled wetlands between your ocean view and Bay view. Pelicans and other birds fly directly by the house on their way to their feeding areas. We hope you enjoy the natural environment that surrounds our home!
