Scott and Tammy and their four teenage children live in Marquette, MI. They both graduated from local high schools and attended Northern Michigan University in Marquette.
Tammy LaMora purchased this cottage in 2005
With four teenage children, we unfortunately no longer have the time available to spend at our beautiful Gwinn cottage. We love the Gwinn and surrounding areas and the wonderful people that live and work there, and hope you enjoy it as much as we do!
This cottage is the perfect get away for a busy family. The moment we pull into the drive, we feel a sense of relief and reprieve from our busy lives. It's a peaceful and relaxing atmosphere where any family can unwind and spend quality time together.
We really had a great time. That lake was just perfect for swimming and fishing. We will certainly keep your place in mind for future stays.
The house was nice and in a great location, only 20 mins from Marquette. I would only suggest that they clean it better, I had to clean the toilet when I got there and they had a lot of dust on the registers and ceiling fans. The bed's were slightly uncomfortable but its a vacation rental we understood that. The outside was beautiful and peaceful. Even with the "minor" items, I would stay here again.
I loved the location of this spot. No neighbors to the left of you and miles of trails to walk right out the door. There were tons of blueberries before I arrived. The lake was very quiet and I only saw several people out (could be the time of year). The cabin was CLEAN and had all utensils I needed. The large porch is a great spot looking down over the lake and it had chairs, etc. I loved Jim, your next door neighbor. The only additional item (I travel frequently so it matters) that could be used is a comfy mattress or bed topper so I could continue my peaceful day into my sleep. Thanks for sharing your home with me.
I'm so glad we came upon this cabin while searching for a family vacation! Upon entry, the cabin was clean and fully stocked with everything you could imagine needing while spending time up north. There were some areas that maybe could have used a little improvement (no working smoke detector, a not so perfect patio screen), but that's to be expected in a lake house! Didn't bother us one bit. The lake was clean and quiet and perfect for swimming; the dock provided easy and fun fishing with a plentiful supply of Bluegill and Bass! We had a blast picking bowls of wild blueberries along the sandy road, catching frogs and toads along the shoreline, and playing cribbage at night at the picnic table on the deck overlooking the property. The central air came in handy as the weather was HOT during our visit and the WiFi was an extra unexpected perk. Tammy was an awesome communicator and more than accommodating for me and my family. Thank you for sharing your beloved cottage with us! I'd recommend your cottage again to anyone. We'll be back!
Dirty & dusty, Left over food in pantry and frig., ants and other bugs in house, Many light bulbs burnt out, Broken lite fixtures, holes in doors and walls and every screen in the house was torn so we could not open the windows. High priced and very low quality rental.
This cabin is in a great location on a very small quiet lake which is perfect for relaxing. We saw one jet ski on the lake the whole time we were there! There was no other motor type boats. This was perfect for us! The lake was beautiful and we Kayaked daily(we brought our own). They have a row boat and paddle boat on site for your use. They also have a very small but nice electric sauna by the lake.
This is a well supplied cabin. They thought of everything you need. They have a fully stocked kitchen. Plenty of towels. There's AC! This was so wonderful because it was 80s-90s when we stayed . There's also charter Internet for you to use. There's games, movies, water toys, ring toss and bean bag toss. They have a few fishing poles and life jackets for you as well.
They are pet friendly which was a must for us! We will definitely rent again. Thank you LaMora's!
We traveled to several spots around the UP from this location. Not far from Marquettee, Pictured Rocks and other cool cities. The house was perfect for us. We spend time on the beach and were able to hang out on the deck at night. A cute house on the water that had everything we needed. Very quiet place to relax.
