Airy and bright, this house can easily accommodate 1-10 people. The ground floor has a living room with fireplace, dining room, kitchen, laundry/pantry and full bathroom, as well as a queen sized bedroom and a TV room/den with a twin bed. The second floor features a master suite, full bathroom with double sinks, shower, soaking tub and walk-in closet. In addition, there is a large bedroom with twin beds (another bed can be added) and a full bathroom accessible from bedroom or hallway. The huge loft/ family room with second television and ample desk space also has a pull-out queen sofa and twin daybed and a balcony overlooking the pool with views to Long Island Sound.
It was my parents who purchased this home in 1963, when the area (then and now named, Fair Acres), was transitioning from a seasonal beach community to a family neighborhood. We bought it from my mom and dad in 2006 and in 2009 completed a major renovation. The location and neighborhood is wonderful and we've watched the area turn into a paradise for beach lovers and young families alike.

The house is a wonderful combination of simple design and, classic, colonial style architecture. Throughout the day, it has bright sunlight, which lights and warms the interior spaces (note: 4 zone central air), as well as a swimming pool, which is located a few steps from a south-facing deck. Fairfield Beach is only a block away and the home is a short walk to vibrant shopping and restaurants, located in the center of town. It is an excellent destination for relaxation outside of the city (an easy, one-hour commute to Grand Central Terminal) and has many of the amenities associated with a college town, with Fairfield and Sacred Heart Universities located nearby. If you are interested in the performing arts, the Westport Country Playhouse (Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were both benefactors), Long Wharf Theater and Yale Rep are both a short drive away; the Fairfield Theater Company is located within a few steps of the train station.
When we were renovating the house, countless neighbors and visitors to the area commented on the beauty and elegance of both the home and property. It really stood out. The house has the look and feel of a historic property. It has a warm, inviting atmosphere that resonates strongly with almost everyone who visits the property. People invariably love it.
Wonderful stay for our daughter's graduation from Fairfield University. The property is close to downtown Fairfield and just steps to the beach. Very easy to get to and from campus for all of the graduation activities. There was plenty of room for both sets of grandparents to spread out as well as plenty of room to commune as a family. The outdoor pool area and kitchen were amazing and the home is meticulously decorated. The owners were very responsive and accomodating. Wish we could have stayed longer.
This home is located in the heart of the Fairfield Beach area (walk past five houses and you are on the beach), in a Revolutionary War era town, amidst historic homes and beautiful beach houses. Fairfield is full of activities for adults and children alike. After a day at the beach, come home and swim in a beautiful, heated gunite pool, read in the hammock in the pool shed, pick vegetables from the garden, cook on the gas grill and enjoy an al fresco dinner as the sun sets.
