Enjoy your getaway nestled in over 200 acres of Wolfe's Neck State Park. Less than a 10 minute drive from the center of Freeport's downtown district. Exquisite home with full kitchen, sunrises and sunsets from the deck, living room, or bedroom. Just steps to the ocean and hiking paths from your vacation getaway. You will view osprey and eagles. This is a unique off-the-grid vacation getaway. If you are looking for a peaceful vacation retreat yet just minutes from town, this is just the spot you are looking for.
We stayed here for the Fourth of July weekend and it was very relaxing. My 10 year old twin boys enjoyed playing down by the beach, swinging on the hammock and watching the fireworks from the bedroom windows. We also did a little hiking in Wolfe Neck's Park. The cottage was clean and the owner was so thoughtful to leave a basket of Maine goodies such as maple syrup, chips and chocolate. There were also board games and bubbles for the boys but there was too many things to do that we just did not get time to play with them. The garden is lovely and my husband made me a salad from the herb garden. Laurie was very quick to respond to my request. If you are looking for a quiet, quaint place to relax by the water, this is the place!
We had an vacation at this beautiful home. The location is stunning and Bill has done an amazing job of restoring and maintaining this home he clearly loves deeply. We are often in the area - we've stayed at hotels and other rental homes. This is in a whole different class from all the others. I hope to be able to stay at Bill's on many occasions in the future. It is a very special place.
I can't agree more with the previous reviews. The pictures do not do justice to the fantastic water views from the porch or upstairs bedroom, which was amazing to wake up to with the sun over the water. We loved that the location was remote yet close to multiple locations. It's a quick ride to Freeport, Portland, Brunswick, Popham Beach, and more. It was great to come back to a very well stocked kitchen with any cooking utensils you might need. We made it a point to make it back for the sunset almost every night and enjoy the peaceful qualities of the cottage. Thanks to the owners for sharing such a wonderful property!
Previous review were totally accurate on this riverside gem! We thought it was just the kind place we would own ourselves. Fantastic water views, great places onsite to explore on land or in the water, or a place to just be. The home is well appointed, comfortable and clean. It had everything we needed and the little extras from the owner were such a kind gesture - puzzle & plane perfectly suited for my son; Maine food goodies; fresh eggs, berries and peas from their garden - well, it made us feel even more welcome and connected to the home. A great location to explore all that Maine has to offer: Nature, Lobster boating, puffin watching, LL Bean adventures, lighthouses - I could go on. We look forward to a repeat visit!
We had a great week at the Stowell cottage. The cottage is beautiful, well appointed and has unbeatable views! We carried our kayaks down the steps to the beach and spent every day kayaking and swimming. Walked just off the property to connect to the Wolfe's Neck State Park hiking trails too.
If you're visiting Freeport definitely make this your home base! We can't wait to return next year.
Wow! That was our first reaction when we arrived at this home. Not only is the setting gorgeous and serene, the house itself was spotless and beautifully appointed. In short--it was perfect. My husband and I spent many hours on the balcony listening to the birds, watching the water, and feeling the breezes. And the bed was so comfortable that we both slept like babies. We appreciated the guide books and info on the area that was on hand as well as the board games. My only wish is that we could've somehow brought all that relaxation, beauty and cool temperatures back with us to Texas. Thank you for everything--we truly had an amazing vacation, and your house was a big part of what made it so special.
