I'm a local florist.I've been vacationing in Healdsburg for 40 years.
Sue Chase purchased this cabin in 2003
I just love this particular area because I've spent so many summers up here enjoying the 'River'.And it's only 1 hour away from S.F., where I live.
It's a short walk to the beach.Only 5 minute drive to the town of Healdsburg. The main deck is an extension of the living room. We've always spent so much time there relaxing and enjoying the views. The beach at 'Camp Rose' is only for residents in the area.So it's quite private.A float down on the river can be really fun.Only takes 1 hour starting from Redwood Dr..Or there's 'Rivers Edge' canoe rental close by.Great dining in town, lots of great shopping too.
My girlfriends and I stayed at this home for a wine weekend. We were so excited about the beautiful outdoor space, but unfortunately it rained all weekend so we couldn't enjoy it!
The beds were extremely comfortable, the cabin was cozy, and we had a lovely time.
My husband and I stayed here in early October with our grown daughter and her boyfriend. The house was charming and woodsy and well equipped for our needs. The balcony off the living room was nice and roomy and a wonderful place to have meals. The location of the house was perfect; close to wineries, the Russian River, and just up the hill from adorable downtown Healdsburg. Wish we could have stayed longer.
The day we got to Healdsburg, we bought groceries in town before heading up to the house, so we could eat in that evening. Although there appeared to be several wonderful restaurants in Healdsburg (We had lunch at one of them--Campo Fina.), we just wanted to hunker down that night. Before dinner, we made the very short walk from the house down to the river to watch the sunset--beautiful. Then we came back and cooked. The kitchen had everything we needed and the BBQ worked fine. We ate out on the balcony and stayed out there talking into the evening. It was so relaxing. The next day we went canoeing on the Russian River--a fabulous adventure and one Sue recommended.
All in all, we couldn't have been happier with the whole experience, and we highly recommend the house if you want a comfortable, unpretentious, laid-back place to stay that is right in the heart of everything.
What a lovely way to spend a week! The location is so quiet, even the birds respected our solitude. We arrived in late afternoon and found the cabin to be a bit stuffy (no air conditioning) but opened all of the windows and the fresh northern California air had it cooled off and comfortable within less than ½ an hour. It was lovely having a break from canned air. The views are beautiful! Morning fog hides the mountains but burns off early to reveal picturesque scenery. Two items of caution for future renters; the road is steep and the driveway is a little tricky if you are unaccustomed to that type of terrain. Secondly, we had trouble using our cells phones, even with Wi-Fi. Not an issue if you are planning a retreat (girl’s weekend or visiting wineries). It was an issue for us though because we were visiting our former home (Sonoma County) and had trouble connecting with friends & family. Overall, I would rent again just for the peaceful, beautiful setting. Thanks Sue!
Wonderful rustic cabin home very close to Healdsburg. A perfect place to call home base for a weekend in Sonoma. Surrounded by nature, close to the beach, and amazing location to town, can't beat this as a wonderful place to call home for a weekend.
My boyfriend and I loved Sue's charming cabin nestled in the hills of Healdsburg! This place was totally our speed - casual, comfortable, cozy, and "rustic" in the best possible way (and in none of the uncomfortable ways). We loved hanging out there so much, in fact, that we elected to skip restaurant dinners and grill out every night of our stay. In the evenings, while the sun was setting over the hills, we would take the lovely stroll down to the peaceful river with a bottle of wine from the day's explorations - you cannot beat the perfect location of country meets convenience to town. We did not use the downstairs bedroom and bath, but the upstairs master suite is VERY comfortable. As another reviewer mentioned, I do not believe there is any air conditioning, so if you are sensitive to this, keep it in mind. We were fine using the provided fans and keeping windows open for a breeze. All in all, a great place to stay. We know we'll be back, hopefully every year!
This is a great location just outside the charming town of Healdsburg. My two adult daughters and I stayed for two nights and wished we had more time there. The beds are comfy, the kitchen well stocked and the views from the decks are so pretty. The day we arrived, after traveling all day, we took a short nap in the lounge chairs on the large deck. Wonderful! My only caveat is this, and I could be wrong, or perhaps it is really a non-issue with the climate there - it appears to have no central heat or air conditioning, so I would check with Sue, the owner about that before booking. Speaking of which, she was an absolute delight to work with. Her friendliness alone would be enough to make me come back! We thoroughly enjoyed the town which is full of restaurants and tasting rooms. I would recommend the Williamson tasting room. We had outstanding meals at Bravas and Willi's Seafood. We also dined at Valette, which had been HIGHLY recommended by several people. We found this place to be our most unmemorable, yet most costly meal of our trip. We did the chef's tasting menu, FYI.
Healdsburg is a particularly desireable destination in the Wine Country. It is a center for Gourmet Dining, wine making & tasting,Antique shops,Art Galleries, shopping, boatinghiking, swimming & cycling.
