About Suzanne Becque

I live Hancock Point, on the 7 acre property pictured here, with my partner Randy. Hancock Point is a peninsula that is almost an Island if you look at the map. The ocean is not far away in any direction. We live in my farmhouse in the winter and in my cottage, Sunflower Cottage in the summer, where visitors can find me most of the time if they need me. I work as a Spanish interpreter, on the phone, almost every day (in addition to renting, maintaining and cleaning the cottages and farmhouse!). Randy and I garden and maintain the property together and we really enjoy having people from other parts of the country, and even the world, come here and experience the beauty of the place we get to live in all the time.

Suzanne Becque purchased this cottage in 2006

Why Suzanne Becque chose Hancock

This is a unique place. You can come here to unwind and enjoy nature, but you will not be far away from all the attractions of Bar Harbor and livelier venues. We are situated between Acadia National Park on Mount Desert Island and the other less well known, but incredibly beautiful part of Acadia on Schoodic Point at Winter Harbor. This allows visitors to easily spend time in both spots while enjoying an accommodation that is a little lower priced than those in Bar Harbor. The property is also near the Public Reserve Lands at Donnell's Pond, which are as beautiful as Acadia and less well known. If you hike up Schoodic Mountain in the middle of the week and then finish up at the beach on for a swim, you will think you have found heaven on earth and you won't be sharing it with very many people if any.

Randy and I really enjoy what we do and we want you to have a great experience here and are willing to do whatever is needed to make that happen.

What makes this cottage unique

This large property includes 2 cottages and a farmhouse, so if you are having a family reunion or just want some privacy when traveling with family, you can rent two cottages and or the farmhouse. Many big families have enjoyed this option. We've had afternoon softball games in the field and big cookouts on the farmhouse deck at night. The only downside for me is that I sometimes have to return misplaced pots and dishes, left in the wrong cottage, after those big family dinners!

Lovely

This is a perfect little getaway cabin for families, with all the basic things you need to cook inside or outside. There is plenty of space for kids to play in the adjoining field, without having to worry about them flying off a rocky cliff like in some of the nearby waterfront rentals. The wood-burning stove was perfectly warm. The location was near enough to Mt. Desert Island, which contains the outstanding Acadia National Park and the town of Bar Harbor. We were able to jaunt to the island every day, no problem. I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Cozy Cottage Stay on our Visit to Maine

  • 4 of 5

I am shocked that this cottage has no reviews online. The guest book at the cottage is full of raving reviews about their time spent at this cottage. Our experience was no different.

I wanted our visit to Maine as a family to be reflective of the natural beauty we would experience. When I saw Blueberry Cottage and Blackberry Cottage (the one two houses down), I knew this was the place we should stay. We found it to be exactly as pictured --warm, inviting, and clean.

My kids loved picking wild blueberries in the nearby field for our morning pancakes, chasing butterflies and fireflies, and enjoying the surroundings. We enjoyed unplugging while eating meals on the porch, reading, and just relaxing. The cottage wasn't that far from Acadia National Park/Bar Harbor and we it was great to return to the cottage each night after our adventures.

Cozy Stay

  • 4 of 5

I'm submitting a review so that people like me, who like to evaluate on reviews, have something to consider.

I wanted an experience different from a regular hotel stay during our visit to Acadia National Park and we chose this based on the pictures. Suzanne was great to work with and very responsive.

The cottage was exactly pictured. Our family of four loved eating meals on the porch, watching the kids pick wild blueberries for the morning's pancakes, and returning to this delightful cottage after a full day at Acadia. The kitchen was stocked with what we needed to cook and there is a grill.

If you are looking for a place to unplug, commune with nature, and enjoy the family, you've got to choose this cabin.
