Located only a 10 minute walk from the heart of Saint Germain des Pres, on the 5th floor, with elevator, of an elegant 18th century building, this stylish 2 bedroom apartment embodies Parisian style.
Situated on the rue Barbet de Jouy, it is close by to a wonderful choice of restaurants, grocery shops and open-air markets.
Recently renovated, and decorated with beautiful furnishings, the space is comprised of two rooms, a fully equipped kitchen, and a modern bathroom.
The 55m2/592 sq ft comfortably sleeps three, and the main bedroom is equipped with a queen size bed.
The area boasts some of the finest landmarks in the city. Only a stone’s throw from the Rodin Museum, and the Invalides, it is also a ten minute walk from Paris’s best department store (with the finest food hall in town) , The Bon Marché, and the trendy Saint-Germain-des-Pres area. This is a perfect and comfortable base for those who wish to discover Paris for the first time, as well Francophiles who are returning to the city.
St.Francois Xavier metro station is a 150 meters / 2 minute walk away.
The owner works in design, and has lived in Paris for 10 years.
We stayed at Charles' for five nights with our two daughters, age seven and two. The space is not especially big -- the kitchen, in fact, is *very* small -- but it's got everything one might need, and it never felt cramped because it's flooded with light and sparsely and elegantly furnished, without being stuffy. In fact, staying here felt like staying in a swanky hotel, minus the expense plus the personality. (Charles is a man of taste.)
Charles was a gracious host, leaving tips for nearby restaurants and stores and providing a cot and a high chair for our little one. I especially appreciated that he let us stay until 4pm on the day of departure so our two-year-old could take her nap.
The neighborhood is great; the Musée Rodin with its gardens is literally around the corner, while the shopping area around Rue du Bac is an easy ten-minute walk. The next metro stop (François Xavier) is just down the road, and there's a direct line to Gare du Nord from Saint-Sulpice, a leisurely 15-minute walk away.
In all, we really enjoyed our stay and had no complaints whatever.
This charming apartment was comfortable and welcoming. Charles was more than accommodating, meeting us for an early check in so I could drop my bags before heading out to explore Paris. He gave us recommendations for local places we would enjoy and was very responsive when we had a question or a need during our stay. While this is a one bedroom, we found it offered plenty of room for two adults and our teenage daughter. The beds were very comfortable and the apartment was central yet very quiet. A lovely stay!
We enjoyed our stay in this apartment for a week in June. It’s in a great location within walking distance to many of the major museums and landmarks and close to a metro stop. It’s in a quiet, secure building on a quiet street. The apartment was spacious, even for three of us. It was nice to have a kitchen to prepare small meals and snacks, so we didn’t have to eat out for every meal. And we appreciated having a washing machine and heated towel rack more than we expected. It was also great to have wireless internet service in the apartment.
The one issue, as mentioned by others, is the lack of a shower. Although there is a hand held shower attachment, there isn’t a shower curtain, so it can’t be used to take a stand up shower. Even sitting in the tub, it was a little challenging to use it without getting water on the floor.
Charles, the owner, made himself very available during our stay. He provided us with his contact information and checked in with us by email to make sure that we had everything we needed.
We were really glad that we decided to stay in this apartment, instead of a hotel, for our week in Paris.
First, I would like to say that the location was great. Joyed the peace of the neighbourhood and proximity to the metro. However, the suite was not exactly as advertised. It is not a two bedroom (which was fine as there were only two of us) and while the photos made it look charmingly shabby-chic it was slightly more shabby than chic. I did know going in that he bathroom only had a tub with hand held shower, but I underestimated how inconvenient this would be as it has no shower curtain and it took two people to bathe so we didn't have water everywhere. Also, there was no real living room area to relax in, just an awkward bed/chaise. Did not make us eager to return home after a long day of sightseeing to enjoy a glass of wine in our Parisian home.

My friend and I stayed in this wonderful apartment for eight nights in November. I'm so glad we stayed here and would highly recommend this chic apartment to all my friends and here is why:
-Excellent and safe neighborhood! We loved St. Germain and the apartment is close to everything you would need: a small grocery store (though I recommend you walk a bit further to the Le Bon Marche food market as it is amazing); superb coffee shop (Café Coutume on Rue de Babylon); excellent restaurants & shopping; several metro stations; and I could go on an on! We walked to everything (Eiffel Tower, Louvre, Musee d'orsay, Musee Rodin, Champs Elysees, Invalides, etc) and just loved the location.
-Apartment itself is very nice. Comfortable beds with excellent linens. Plenty of closet space. Nicely decorated with antiques. A washing machine if needed. A heated towel rack in the bathroom, and provided hair dryer; a kitchen (we kept snacks in the refrig) but mostly ate out. On a quiet street and in a quiet building! We were very pleased with the apartment and are so glad we chose it over staying in a tiny hotel room--we truly felt like we were living like a Parisian.
-Charles (the owner), was an excellent host, communicated well and quickly if needed. Met us when we arrived to give us a tour and answered our questions. His suggestions for restaurants and notes about the neighborhood were excellent!
-The apartment was clean when we arrived and all we were asked to do before we left was that we take out the trash.
-Wireless Internet in the apartment was helpful so we could check email and book things like our Fat Tire Bike Tours (highly recommend this--we did tours of Paris, Paris at Night, and Versailles and loved each tour).
-Bathroom was plenty big. It was an adjustment not having a shower--but I brought bubble bath and enjoyed the deep antique tub..which was especially great after walking and biking so much each day!
-Bedroom with queen bed...super comfortable, great sheets, down duvet and curtains in case you like it dark when sleeping.
Anyhow, I could go on and on but you get the idea! We enjoyed staying here and would definitely stay here again! Thanks Charles!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this apartment. It was everything as described by the owner. Having traveled extensively in Europe, the charm and comfort of this rental was greatly appreciated. It is situated on the 5th floor and there is a lift if needed. However, we chose the stairs to help burn off the sweets and extra servings of bread and cheese. The layout is as depicted on HomeAway. The warmth from all of the windows in the living area is lovely. You feel like actual tenants and not vacationers when you stay here.
The apartment appeals to every traveler, whether it be those seeking the major sights and attractions or those who want to immerse themselves in the Parisian day to day living.
If you are one who likes to take in all of the attractions, this apartment is perfect. It is close to the metro and within walking distance to several museums, landmarks, restaurants, shopping and parks. The location is a perfect base for sight seeing.
On the other hand, if you are one seeking a Parisian experience look no further. Personally, this is how we travel. We adopt a neighborhood and explore it thoroughly. This neighborhood is oozing with ambiance, charm and Parisian culture. We shopped at the specialty shops within the neighborhood itself. We took the advice of the owner, Charles, and ate at some of the recommend restaurants (loved Restaurant Oudino). But one of the highlights was shopping at the Thursday/Saturday Market Saxe-Breteuil. If you can take the time to visit this market, it’s only a ten minute walk from the apartment. The location itself is worth going for due to it’s closeness to the Eiffel Tower, the tree lined streets, and the wonderful surroundings. It’s only two blocks long but packed with amazing produce, cheese, bread, meats, etc.
The apartment itself is comfortable, well decorated, clean and is suitable for three people, but perfect for two. The bed is nice. The kitchen is well equipped if you want to prepare your own meals. The only minor issue is the lack of a shower, but it is easy to adapt to a bathtub. Besides, when is the last time you have had the opportunity to bath in an antique, Parisian bathtub? The owner, Charles, is very professional and easy to work with. He helped us figure out our transportation and has very good taste in restaurants and shopping. We would stay here again. Thank you for providing a lovely place to stay in the most beautiful city in the world.
