Great centrally located and spacious house in Ogunquit for our weeklong vacation. 2 minute walk to Perkins Cove, 20 minutes to the beach. Karen was very friendly and welcoming. Overall very quiet, only small complaint is the neighbor's A/C was pretty loud and a bit distracting when sitting on the front porch - but inside the house it was quiet. Would definitely recommend!
This house has some wonderful features. It is in a very convenient location, especially to Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way. Karen is a great owner providing us with linens, soaps and even treats for our dog. The couches are all covered with a nice throw that can be easily cleaned. There is a wonderful porch to sit out on. Being able to take our dog along was the main attraction to this house.
Some draw backs would include outdated furniture including the porch chairs, dinette set and beds, especially the two twins and the double. (The master bedroom was great.) The pipes up in the main bathroom were very noisy when you turn on the cold water. Windows were quirky but AC did work. This is an old home so you have to be willing to take the characteristics of that into consideration.
This year marks our 3rd visit to this great spot on Fraser Pasture Road. We really do love the place. The home is spacious and clean and the location....well that can't be beat. The kitchen is very well stocked with everything a family needs. The living room is very large and bright with lots of comfortable seating. The most attractive feature is the huge screened in porch. We spent many a relaxing hour there. Some may say the decor is a little dated - this is true but in our view this just adds to the cottage experience! Overall we (including our little dog) enjoy our stay more and more every year.
We had a wonderful vacation- the house was extremely comfortable and roomy enough for our family. Location, location, location...could not be better. SO awesome to be just steps from the Marginal Way.
We'll be back.
We stayed one week in July 2016, loved it! The house is old but well maintained, Karen is very nice, and the location can't be beat - 2 minute walk to Marginal way!! We had 6 adults, 1 kid and 2 infants, everyone was quite comfortable. Our favorite restaurant was Barnacle Billy's Etc in Perkins Cove (a 6 minute walk); our favorite breakfast was Cafe Amore (a 4 min walk).
The listing was very accurate description of the property. The location was perfect for walking most places, especially to the cove and nature walk along the Marginal Way.
The amenities are most sufficient ; did not need anything else.
neighbors were friendly and Karen was most pleasant and we enjoyed having her greet us on our arrival.
We would not hesitate to recommend the house . This was our first vacation in Maine, so we thought it was very special.
Ogunquit,'beautiful place by the sea' offers a mile long stretch of soft, sandy beach, the marginal way footpath that allows you to stroll along the rocky coast from Perkins Cove to the Village, a diversity of restaurants from quick take-out to five star dining, and museums and art galleries. The Ogunquit Playhouse presents musical theater throughout the summer months featuring well known actors. Perkins Cove has restaurants, shops, and art galleries, as well as boat tours. You can sail to York or Wells on sightseeing boats, or take a tour with a lobster fisherman. There is a deep sea fishing trip as well.
There is a trolley that will take you from Perkins Cove to the beach, the playhouse, the village, and up to the Wells line so a car is not all that necessary. If you care to drive, York Beach is just down the shore road where you can get Goldenrod saltwater taffy and entertain the kids at the York Wild Kingdom. Kennebunkport is just north, past Wells, with shops and restaurants, and former President Bush's summer home.
At the beach you can choose enjoying the surf and swimming in the river. The sand is white and fine although a bit sparce at high tide. There are places to get snacks and shops for extra sunscreen.
