GREAT house!!

  • 5 of 5

We vacation as a family every year...2 daughters/son in-laws and 2 grandchildren under 8 years old...8 total...this house met all our needs and then some. We enjoyed every aspect of this house, especially the screened in porch! The beach was well groomed, roomy and was close to the house, which was nice. The dock was great for swimming and fishing...GREAT fishing, and plenty of parking!! Lastly, the owners were kind, thorough and helpful when needed throughout the week. We have finally found the house we'll go to for years to come!

Best Vacation Ever!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I have rented several lake houses in the Lakes Region over the years and we have never had hosts as welcoming as Sheila and Chris. From the minute we arrived Chris met me at the marina, helped me launch my boat, and guided me back to the house. The house is beautiful and had everything we needed for a relaxing stay. We had a ton of fun all week cruising the lake, tubing, and spending time at the sandbar. We especially loved the screened in porch facing the water and the fire pit on the beach. The weather was excellent all week and we were definitely sad to leave. We are already planning on coming back next year!

perfect location for relaxation

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I recently rented Chris and Shelia's cottage for a week with our two kids, 3 & 7, two grandparents and 15 year old nephew. We had great weather as it was in the upper 80's and low 90's the whole week. We had one night of rain but nothing else. This allowed us to use the pond to the fullest. The owners were great as they checked in with us as we made our way up from MA and when we got to the house they meet us there to do a walk through. They actually own the house next door as well but they did not stay there during the week we were there. They were more than accommodating as they gave us a welcome gift of smores for the fire pit and even took us for a tour around the lake in their boat the first night we were there. They gave our son some fishing tips as well. The house was great for the number of people we had. Plenty of room for everyone. We enjoyed the pool table in the basement and loved the screened in porch. We used it everyday for meals and relaxing in the afternoon. The pond was perfect for our kids as it was warm water and not to deep. the kids were able to swim out a bit and we didn't worry about them. Hardly any boat traffic were the house is so it is certainly quiet, especially during the week. We felt like we were the only people on the water. We brought lots of food with us so we didn't have to leave for much of anything. We took a couple of day trips into Wolfeboro, NH which was such a great little town. Nice chops to walk around in and some small restaurants to get food. We used the kayaks and canoe everyday as well. The house stayed cool even though it does not have AC. The beach area is large and great for playing ladder ball or sitting out by the fire pit. We really could not have been happier with the setup of the house, location for what we wanted, or the owners who were great. They checked in with us before we left and were very helpful. We would love to stay here again if the opportunity arises.

Fun for the young and solitude for the not young

  • 5 of 5

We rented this cottage for 4 continuous weeks during the month of July. Since we are from neighboring Massachusetts this provided a home base for my wife and I to enjoy some alone time, while also hosting visits by siblings and for our daughters and grandchildren to spend family time together.

The cottage provided all the amenities needed by each of our many visitors. By far the most enjoyment came from watching our 2 year old twin grandkids enjoy the beach and the pond.

I most enjoyed the early mornings, (the birds start chirping at 5AM), when i had time to enjoy the reflections of the pond smooth as glass every day. No better way to start the day then this beautiful silent setting with hot coffee in hand, digital news paper on the lap top and silence broken only by the occasional call of the loon. Soaked this in for about an hour each day until the silence was broken by the call of the twins, "I want, I want, I want".

We greatly enjoyed the whole experience and thank Chris and Sheila for their thoughtfulness and attentiveness to our comfort and enjoyment. Especially appreciated the pontoon boat ride around the lake with their narrative on the lake and local community. They were perfect hosts.

You can't go wrong renting this cottage.

It was perfect, 5 kids ages 13-4 never were bored! So you know how happy we were? The house had everything you could need, more then enough room. Most of the time your outside on the lake. Pool table a fridge in the basement and wood to burn at night. Don't forget about Chris and Sheila outstanding , gave us a walk through and answered all our questions. Overall it was a great week for us. Thanks so much for the PERFECT week.

This hidden gem was ideal for our family

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have been happier with what became our multi-family-intergenerational home for a week. Everything in the description of this property is true and more! The owners, Sheila and Chris share their love of this house by keeping it in perfect condition and sparkling clean.

As far as amenities go, everything was there that we needed for cooking, bathing, cleaning, and most of all, lakeside fun and time to relax and enjoy being together. Because this was a family vacation, one of the things that impressed us most was the kid-friendly layout. Keeping the kids, four cousins ages 7-9, busy and entertained was one of the things uppermost in our minds as the vacation approached. If you are in the same situation, Not to worry! The 2 kayaks and canoe, fishing off the dock, the pool table downstairs, the fireplace by the beach, and the games and puzzles kept the kids entertained between their made-up games. As for the adults, we could sit up on the deck overlooking Balch Lake and see the kids down on the beach at all times. This was both fun and reassuring. We were able to get movies from Sheila and Chris's exhaustive collection. Cell phone service and internet were not a problem with the Wi-Fi. In addition to our stay at the house, we also took a couple of day trips- one to the ocean and one to the Polar Caves. This broke up the week nicely. We shopped for food in Ossipe at the Hannefords. The World War II museum in Wolfboro was way beyond our expectations. It is not to be missed, with excellent exhibits covering the war effort "back home" between 1939 and 1945. Balch lake proved to be the highlight of our week, with its lovely reflections of sky and trees. The boats going by were not loud and the nights were quiet. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to family and friends who want to "get away from it all"
