About Lauren Lewis

We are a family of four who fell in love with Stonington many years ago.

Lauren Lewis purchased this townhome in 2011

Why Lauren Lewis chose Stonington

We have been visiting Stonington for over 30 years since Stonington was more of a working-class, Portuguese immigrant community. What hasn't changed is the beauty of its setting and how committed its residents are to its preservation.

What makes this townhome unique

We love how Grey House functions whether we are visiting as a family or whether we are entertaining friends. Whomever wakes first can dash out to Indulge for bagels or egg sandwiches and pick up the paper and a quart of milk at Tom's. Even the young kids can bike or walk around town or to the playground or beach. Daily constitutionals around the Borough are one of our favorite rituals.

Great Property. Unbelievable house!

  • 5 of 5

This house is incredible. Our stay was only enhanced by the incredible service of our hosts. Extremely organized and detailed, our stay was laid out perfectly through a series of simple correspondence and an air tight renters manual. As for the house itself, it was so inviting. The kitchen features state of the art appliances, and the living areas are perfect for entertaining. We hope to have an excuse to visit Stonington because we would love to rent this house again.

Perfect for a family.

  • 5 of 5

There were seven of us, gathered in Stonington for Thanksgiving. A large kitchen and dining area accommodated us all. Very pleasant and charmingly decorated. We would rent it again without hesitation.

Great weekend stay!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful home! I recently stayed here with a group for a girls' weekend. The house was beautifully decorated from top to bottom (especially the kitchen, which we all loved), and had eveything that we needed to do a bit of cooking and plenty of towels and linens. We all agreed that the house not only lived up to the pictures, but exceeded them. The location was perfect - an easy walk to downtown/the water. We traveled to a few of the surrounding towns for wineries and nightlife, and easily used Uber to get around at night. And, the owners could not have been nicer and easier to arrange our stay with; dealing with them was an absolute pleasure. I would highly recommend renting the Grey House if you are in need of a place to stay in this area!

Awesome Home!

  • 5 of 5

The Gray House was perfect for our friends getaway! The house is even better than the pictures! The whole house was just special-from the cool, antique rugs and furniture to the beautiful kitchen. There are touches in this house that aren't typical to a vacation home that make you feel so comfortable. The back porch was perfect for morning coffee. Just sit back and enjoy all of the birds and the cool breezes. We were nervous about not having A/C but the owner was right-the ocean breezes along with the ceiling fans made it feel like the A/C was on even on the second floor! We loved every minute of our time at this home and hope we can come back soon. Stonington is indeed a really special place.

I wish that I could give more than 5 stars as this is a wonderful home and vacation property! The entire house is very well maintained and so easy to use. You can't beat the location either! One block from the main street (Water Street) in Stonington where you will find amazing restaurants and great stores.

Our group of 4 couples had a wonderful stay at the Grey house! We have rented in the area before and have found that most houses that can accommodate this large of a group tend to be really small with everyone on top of one another. Grey house is really large with many sitting areas to hang out and catch up. We wish that we could have used the kitchen more as it has amazing appliances. And even more so, we would have loved the opportunity to use the grill and eat outside! I guess next time as we will be back!

At the dock, buy your live lobsters right off the Lady Lynn or pick up seafood at the honor-system shack. Dock your boat at Dodson's or Don's Dock or bring your kayak and launch it right in the Borough. Just around the corner are wonderful restaurants and cafes and some of the finest antique shops and art galleries in the region. Just steps away is a children's playground that abuts a Saturday farmer's market that features organic, local meats, seafood, produce and baked goods. Rent a sailboat, kayak or paddleboat for the day at the Sailing Foundation, just two blocks away. Walk to tennis courts, playing fields, a community center, basketball courts. Excellent options for golfers include the Pequot Golf Club, Weekapaug Golf Course and Elmridge.

Summer theater is abundant: Westerly runs its “Shakespeare in the Park” every July, check the programs at the Granite Theater, Theatre by the Sea and the Garde Arts Center. Westerly also hosts the Westerly Pops and the Salt Marsh Opera Compay. The prestigious Eugene O’Neill playhouse in New London presents nightly staged readings of new plays in workshop by playwrights like Theresa Rebeck and Lanford Wilson. For cinema, discover the Olde Mystick Village Cinema showing three screens of art and independent movies. Find the mainstream multiplex cinemas in nearby Stonington and Groton. Take the Connecticut wine trail through picturesque countryside to over 16 local vineyards that offer tours and tastings, starting just outside the Borough at Salt Water Farm Vineyard.
