This is a recently renovated cozy ground floor apartment on a private pedestrian alley. It gets wonderful afternoon sun.
It's a fully equipped space with a small, private, heated outdoor seating patio in the back with a table that seats 4.
The bed is a full sized bed. The bathroom is small but very functional. The main kitchen / seating area is highly conducive to gathering and includes two sleeper sofas. One is a single, the other a double / full. The double is probably more well suited to full size adults as the single is a bit on the short side (but fine for someone 5'5' or so)
The flat is located near the heart of North Beach and all it has to offer, Coit Tower and Fisherman's Wharf.
There is excellent public transport nearby and many inexpensive private car options.
Parking for a small or mid-sized car is usually available for $20 a day in the building if you reserve ahead of time.
The owner travels ~90% of the time and lives out of a suitcase when here in SF. So you will not feel like you are living in someone else's life.
I am a technology professional in SF. Originally from Colorado, i live here with Michelle, an insurance specialist, and our two labrador retrievers, Jackson and Maxine.
Tommy Payne purchased this apartment in 2002
I manage this property for a friend. Its super cute and cozy. has never been lived in so does not feel like someone else's home. very close to all the action.
private patio and alley
This place was perfect!! One adult in regular bed that was very comfy..... And futons/ couches comfy to!! Nice area- parking a block away and nice n quiet.... I left out one star because we could NOT get heater to come on and we were cold AND Tommy would not reply.... Only there 3 nights, but grandpa was cold so we gave him all our blankets and we survived.....I would rather pay a few more $$ and have heater go up😃👍 WE WOULD STAY HERE AGAIN
Fantastic location, walking distance to a lot of attractions and good restaurants
The condo was in excellent condition and was clean and ready to use. The only bad thing was it advertises Air Conditioning but all we could seem to set up was a heater. Maybe we missed it. Wasn't a big deal, if you'd like to air out the place, just open the back door and either the front door or Windows. The natural breeze feels amazing! It's very quiet and private so no need to feel unsafe or worried. True to its words, it was definitely centrally located. We were able to walk to all locations. I would recommend using Yelp for local spots around the area, we were able to find some great eats this way. A key tip: The owner will contact within 24 hours of your arrival date. Please don't worry if you don't hear from him. This was my first time using this site so I was a little worried. But considering this is not a hotel, and it is a keyed entry, I can see why he wouldn't want to give out the information too far in advance. Thank you!
The location could not have been better. Walking distance to great restaurants, Fisherman's Wharf, Coit Tower and public transportation. Love the idea of the the Keyless entry. Agree with the previous reviewer that a mirror outside the bathroom would have been very helpful to get ready as the bathroom is very tiny. Did feel the bathroom could have been cleaner(especially in the corners)- rest of the suite was fine. It is a perfect size for 2-3 people. Curious about the BBQ though- it did not appear to be hooked up. Would have loved to use it. Loved Sodini's restaurant at the bottom of the hill. San Francisco is a great city with lots to do- we were there one week and could have stated another. Locals very friendly, helpful and very proud of their city.. Nice to see.
Great location - close to many restaurants, bars, the wharf. We didn't run out of things to do! Very clean, well appointed. One thing to note - it is on a steep hill - so those with physical limitations, be aware. We just considered it a great workout :-)
Something for the owners - perhaps add a mirror outside of the bathroom so another person can get ready if the bathroom is in use.
All in all - a great place! Would definitely consider another stay here! Check-in is easy, keypad is a great idea, garage space available - fantastic place !!!
I booked this stay for my wedding anniversary expecting a romantic stay in the city. What we received was very poor communication, a dirty rental and overall disappointing stay.
COMMUNICATION: I had reached out several times to the property owner as we booked our stay. Communication was good until I made my payment. Then it stopped almost entirely. I expressed my husband and I were traveling for our anniversary and would like to have the details squared away before we left. We did not hear back until the day before our check-in on Sept 6th, after several emails, texts and phone calls with no reply. My husband and I even had to drive into town from camping in the redwoods to get service and make a call to customer support for help. After an hour and ½ on the phone I was assured they would make a call to the owner. The next morning we drove back into town and I finally received an email with the address and key code. We were relieved but disappointed we had to take time out of our vacation to stress and drive into town to handle this.
PARKING: The listing says parking is available for $20 per night if reserved in advance. I inquired about this ahead of time and was told it would not be a problem. This lead us to believe parking was near or attached to the property which wasn’t the case. When we arrived we found no parking nearby and of course all street parking is full. I tried calling for help to find the nearest parking, with no answer. After googling we found a garage a few blocks away called North Shore Parking Garage. They charge $30 per day.
DIRTY RENTAL: The MOST disappointing was discovering upon arrival that this property had not been cleaned since the prior renters. Full trash cans, flies in the kitchen, filthy bathroom, piles of dirty towels and used bedding (YUCK!!) Being this was our anniversary trip I was devastated that our romantic get-away turned out to be a disaster. We didn’t feel comfortable sleeping in the dirty linens so we had to use our camping gear. I text photos of the dirty linens and he got back to me saying the cleaners didn’t service this property and he would refund our cleaning deposit. A nice gesture but hardly made up for the disappointment and overall cost we paid. I was given an access code to the laundry room but that hardly seemed ideal considering our time in the city was limited and we didn’t want to spend it doing laundry.
I would recommend staying anywhere else before renting this property.
North Beach, the heart of San Francisco, borders Telegraph Hill, Chinatown, Downtown and the Wharf. Probably the best place in the city to base yourself as you explore.
