Luxury 3 Bedroom 3 level penthouse (definition of penthouse: an apartment on the top floor of a tall building, typically luxuriously fitted and offering fine views). We are not on a "tall" building, but we are top 2 floors and roof deck with tremendous views of much of north beach, the bay near the Gate. Please see photos for views.

Its a spectacular property on Telegraph Hill. Amazing views, well appointed and close to wherever you want to be in San Francisco.
Why NOT this property? there is no elevator and a fair number of stairs. Just fair warning, if you have health problems or are elderly, you might look elsewhere.
Views, wonderful social living space and fantastic deck.
We have rented many times from VRBO over the past decade. This was the most frustrating and disappointing rental, by far.
The condo has an excellent view and location, it is spacious, and it has a nice layout. Hence the two stars. Otherwise, it gets no additional stars for the following reasons.
First, over our nine day stay the heat never worked. It was in the 40s to 50s in SF; in the unit it was in the 50s and 60s. We exchanged many emails and calls with the manager. The second day he suggested we walk to a store and buy some wood to use in the fireplace to try and warm the living room (this is the only fireplace that works of the 3 that are shown in the photos). After 4 days he gave us several portable heaters that were only slightly effective. However, the rest of our family left the next day so the majority of our time was with room temperatures in the 50s and 60s.
On our 4th day, we returned from an excursion late afternoon and there was not only no heat but no hot water (we wanted to take showers). We called the manager immediately; he came the next day and said a repairman had turned it off while we were away (I had actually asked him if that was a possibility, but he said no). So, no heat for the entire nine days and no hot water for one full day.
In our various exchanges with the manager, we learned that they had been having problems with the heat and the hot water system for quite some time, which makes it very disingenuous that they still charge the full rate for rentals, and that they don’t warn renters of these potential problems.
There were other minor items (e.g. coffee maker must have been sitting for weeks without cleaning the grinds, which were moldy- we didn’t use it; the parking space we rented was occupied one day we returned; even when the hot water was working it was highly variable; light bulbs out in multiple spots).
In summary, this rental is absolutely not worth the risk. We never felt we got straight answers, let alone solutions, from the manager.
The apartment is pretty well equipped and has plenty of space for everyone in our family. Very close to many places, coit tower, china town, fisherman's wharf and so on.
Awesome views of the skyline, city, and bay! Apartment is roomy and full of natural light. Roof deck is wonderful! Bedrooms and bathrooms are all well appointed with high end fixtures. Tommy was very responsive to any issues. We actually had a problem with the freezer and he made every effort to get it fixed over Thanksgiving weekend. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a lovely time in this apartment. I honestly don't think there could be a better location in San Francisco! This is my 11th trip to this city and my first time in this area. I loved it! We had breakfast every day in the cafe down the street and dinner in the same area too. It wasn't too far to walk to both fisherman wharf and through Chinatown to downtown - it seems to be kind of in the middle. We were with elderly relatives and small children - all of who managed the apartment fine. And actually as one bedroom is on the main level and the other two bedrooms are on the lower level, it meant some degree of privacy also. The owner answered on first ring when we needed to contact him. Overall absolutely no complaints! The view is incredible! Five stars all round from us. It's worth the price for the view, the space, the deck and the location.
