About Tim Goheen

Our family fell in love with this property because of the secluded wooded two acres and the fun and carefree lakefront sandy beach. This is our home away from home to escape the hustle and busyness of the greater Grand Rapids area where we live.

Tim Goheen purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Tim Goheen chose Northern Michigan

This Intermediate Lakefront property is centrally located perfectly near Central Lake, Torch Lake, Shanty Creek/Schuss Mountain Resorts, Bellaire, and close proximity to Traverse City, Charlevoix, Petoskey, and Boyne Mountain.

Great location, beautiful views and lake access, great place for a large group of friends with kids!

We had a BLAST the whole week we were at this place!!! The cottage was clean and well taken care of. The lake access was private but easily accessible, and the dock was perfect for our friend's 20' sea-doo. At one point we had 10 adults and 8 children (ages 10 months - 7 years old) in the cottage at once and we never felt too cramped. The surrounding areas are great for day trips - we especially enjoyed an afternoon in Petosky and a day at the beach on Fireman's Island State Park. Nearby Torch Lake has a sandbar for swimming and wading and the town of Bellaire has a fun nightlife. We all highly recommend this cottage and location to anyone looking for a fun and relaxing week away with friends and family!!

Wonderful time had by all!

  • 5 of 5

We had 8 adults and 5 little ones under the age of 5. There was plenty of space for all and we had a wonderful time. There was something for everyone but we most enjoyed the big porch for dining and lounging, the beach and dock, the kayaks, the fire pit and the big yard to play volleyball, soccer and baseball. Home is well equipped with everything we needed and great location near town for treats like pizza, beer, and ice cream! The management company was very attentive, answered our many questions and responded quickly when the power went out. Only thing that would have been nice is access to a crib and highchair but we were prepared so it all worked out. I would highly recommend this rental.

What a wonderful week of vacation

  • 5 of 5

This rental was a great find. The pictures are dead on but don't really show how nice it is... I can say this place was really comfortable. Tim was a great owner to work with and kept us informed of any needs. The property is huge and so peaceful whether in the front of the back of the property. The house is really nice and comfortable with comfy furniture, tables and best place every is that huge covered deck. We spent most of our visit on that porch morning, day or night eating, laughing, quiet, or bug killing with our zappers. There are plenty of windows so even though it was hot the fans we brought and the ones we found there made it comfortable. Tim nicely provides lots of things like the t-paper, kleenex, soaps, trash bags, etc. The kitchen was fully stocked with cooking stuff and we cooked as well as grilled a few times. Bedroom upstairs got a little warm but was doable. It had 4 beds. The main floor had a good size bathroom and bedroom. The washer and dryer was a godsend and the place had plenty of towels and fresh beddings. They even provided the soap. The downstairs had another bathroom and two bedrooms with two beds in each. Honestly it felt great because it was cooler down there but it is a little musty we did keep the dehumidifer going and that helps. We were comfortable. There are stairs so by end of week we all had a work out. The lake and dock was very nice. A nice stroll down to the lake but doable. The lake is not sandy bottomed. It isn't muck like but it has lots of roots from trees. The first time I was barefoot but wore water sandals after and I was fine. The kids and other adults said it didnt bother them much and dealt with it. This house is in a good location. It is within 10 to 15 mins of other towns to get a bite to eat or shop. Torch lake (very close by) has a beautiful lake and swimming there was awesome as well. It is a great loacation to run to Gaylord, Traverse City or Petoseky as well (all within about an hour or less). So many options. I can say that we had many places to go or just stay there and relax. Definately worth it. Nothing is ever perfect but all in all this suited us very well and we worked with anything else we needed. Just an FYI wireless is a bit tricky there. Everyone who had verizon was good to go, those of us with sprint were spotty at best but that was probably a good thing. Thanks Tim it was a good time and thank your cleaning crew they keep that place nice.

From the moment we walked into your lovely house on Intermediate Lake, we knew we would love our vacation! The house was immaculate! There was room enough for all EIGHTEEN of us. The walk down to the lake gave us all a good excuse for a little exercise and it was an "easy" walk. The kids, and adults, loved the sand volleyball/badminton court in the back of the house. Many hours were spent there.

The kids . . . and again some of the adults . . . really enjoyed the water trampoline. We rented a few Kayaks and explored the shore line on your beautiful lake. Everyone enjoyed that!

A few of we gals spent an afternoon in Belaire. There were some cute and unique shops and we enjoyed the outing. And the Family Fare Grocery store was clean and had everything we needed to complete our stay. (With 18 people, we frequently ran out of food . . . and beer!)

On our last night we enjoyed having dinner outside at the Dockside. It was fun and delicious! We had no wait (at 5:30) and were able to have 2 tables next to each other . . . one for the kiddies and one for the adults. Super!

Tim, you were so helpful in advising me as to what you had and what to expect. You always replied with expediency! Thank you.

We only had one rainy day. The kids and grandkids spent that day at Avalanche Water Park and thoroughly enjoyed it. (They brought back delicious pizza for dinner!) My husband and I headed to the Casino for the day. It gave everyone a little "break".

I guess if I had any suggestions for improvements, there would only be two: For as many people as your beautiful home can entertain, I wish there had been TWO blue garbage receptacles instead of just one; and the family who slept upstairs sure would have appreciated a "half-bath" in the middle of the night! Again, certainly nothing major . . . just food for thought.

All in all we had a GREAT time! Thank you so much for sharing your little piece of heaven with my precious, crazy family.

Mary B.

P.S. We "owe" you a volleyball. Sorry about that!

What an amazing place!

What a treat coming back to Intermediate Lake. It truly is one of the most beautiful lakes in Northern Michigan. As a child we vacationed at Holiday Shores Resort for 12 years and have wanted to come back to Intermediate Lake ever since. The Bellaire/Central Lake area is so cute and great for a stroll, shopping in one of the little shops or grabbing a beer at Shorts Brewery. So naturally when we found this rental available we snapped up an August week. We could not be happier that we did. This was by far the nicest place we have ever stayed in our 32 years of renting and as an added bonus it is in the area we love most. Not only did this lake house far and above exceed all of our expectations the weather was amazing...we could not have asked for a more perfect week. The walk from the house to the water is a bit far, but my parents who are both in their late 60's had no trouble. There were a couple of days that it was quite windy and we had a lot of leaves and seaweed wash up on the beach early in the day but by the afternoon it got better. The rest of the week the beach and water were crystal clear and great for floating on our floaties or swimming out to the floating sun raft. You can not beat the privacy and seclusion you feel here. The home is beautiful with the perfect setup for multiple families or families with older children who need space of their own. And the appliances...WOW, a real treat for someone who likes to cook. Also I could go on about the deck for hours. Totally private, a huge outdoor table and plenty of comfy seats to sit and enjoy the gorgeous view of the lake. I would highly recommend this rental to anyone.
