This is a second floor two bedroom condo at Windmill Point Marina. The view from the balcony looks out to the Chesapeake Bay and the Rappahannock River and across the river to Stingray Point (where Capt John Smith was stung by a stingray). The master bedroom looks out at the water, and connects with the balcony. There is a walkin closet and bathroom. The second bedroom has two single beds and a bathroom in the hall. We spend hours sitting in the rocking chairs, reading, and watching all the wildlife - mostly birds, but last year there were dolphins. During cold weather, there is a gas fireplace. Bring your boat, and tie up at Windmill Point Marina. If you don't have a boat, then there are charters available in the area.
We live in DC with three children (in college), a dog, and two cats. We found the Northern Neck of Virginia after 9/11, and fell in love with it. It's the way life was 50 years ago. It's beautiful , quiet, and sophisticated at the same time. We go there to get away from the everyday stresses of life. One day, we plan to retire there.
susan otero purchased this condo in 2005
We love the Northern Neck of Virginia. I grew up in the country, and I wanted our children to experience a simpler way of life. Plus, the area is so beautiful and peaceful.
There are so many things to do here. I usually get up and walk in the mornings. My husband will sometimes bike into town. You can bring a kayak and travel through the marshes and see all kinds of wildlife. There are several antique stores in White Stone and Kilmarnock. There are also several good restaurants. Often, we'll order dinner from Jimmy at the River Market and bring it home and eat on the balcony. Sometimes, we'll take a day trip and take the ferry to Tangier Island. Williamsburg, with all the history and shopping, is just over an hour away. The best part of the day is the evening. We sit on the balcony, watch the sun go down and have a glass of wine. In the winter, we sit in front of the fireplace, watch a movie, and listen to the waves.
Great view on balcony. Could use better cleaning. Chairs need to be replaced in dinning area. Laundry still in washer/dryer. Kitchen not well equipped. Clean sail on sailboat. Dryer vent should be cleaned.
Susan was terrific to our family - we truly enjoyed our stay at the condo; the remote location is perfect for people that want to get away from the hustle bustle. We wouldn't hesitate to rent from her again.
We had a wonderful weekend getaway. The water view was relaxing and the condo was clean. The best thing was we could put our kayaks in the water infront of the condo and explore the river banks. Neighbors were polite. I would stay again.
Found this great condo just outside of White Stone VA near Windmill Point Marina. Unit had perfect endless views of the bay and Deltaville peninsula. Enjoyed sitting on the balcony/deck watching the kids play and explore the shoreline. The condo itself was very well maintained and tastefully furnished and decorated. Explored some of the nearby cute towns and sampled the fare at several local restaurants. Susan was extremely responsive with lots of helpful information. The entire family enjoyed our stay and hope to come back again in the future.
