Why Jeff and Beth Turner chose Northern Michigan

In 2009, my son and I fished 50 Trophy Waters in 50 States in 50 Days. Upon researching the legendary waters of Michigan I found the AuSable to stand apart in many many ways. When we fished/floated the AuSable for the first time I knew that a cabin on the river was in our future. After several years of searching we discovered what is now our Copper Fox Lodge. Its uniqueness, setting, and beauty can only be appreciated in person.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

The 5 of us enjoyed our stay at Copper Fox Lodge as well as any place we have rented. Wonderfully comfortable, great setting, fire pit with plenty of excellent firewood and a kitchen that is stocked with plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, etc.

A Dream Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

When you think of the most ideal cabin in the woods, this is it! The setting alone is magical. Serene, clean, perfectly stocked kitchen & fabulous fireplace. But watching and listening to the incredible Au Sable River just outside, was my very favorite memory. Our group had made reservations for dinner during our stay, but we immediately cancelled them all when we walked into The Copper Fox Lodge. Why drive anywhere, when you can make your own dinner in a fairytale setting? We loved it, and we thank you for the memory!

A very cozy, and inviting cabin on the Au Sable

  • 5 of 5

I hesitate to write a review because the Copper Fox is one of those rare places that you would want to keep to yourself. First of all Jeff (and Beth) were extremely helpful, providing accurate directions (even GPS doesn't know where this is), suggesting places to eat, and providing a comprehensive list of common questions about the cabin.

When we arrived late we fully intended to eat out, but the setting was so beautiful and comfortable, we stayed in, cooking in the well stocked kitchen, started a fire in the fire pit, and enjoyed a glass of wine listening to the wildlife ( a pair of Canadian Geese were ushering in baby chicks in the field across the river), and river ( oh, the river), and never considered eating out again.

The caretaker, Shar, lives nearby and was very responsive to a call for additional soap.

The fishing was excellent. My wife and I caught steelhead and trophy Browns, and numerous smaller trout.

My only regret is that we didn't spend more time at the cabin, as we fished everyday.

We travel a lot around the world, and very rarely return to a place once visited, but we will to the cozy confines of the Copper Fox overlooking the Au Sable.

Such a lovely place!

  • 5 of 5

Jeff and Beth and Shar are as nice as can be. The cabin itself is just beautiful - as charming as the pictures online show it to be. And then there is the river....when you see the view - it will take your breath away! It is a wonderful place for quiet time alone (as my trip ended up unexpectedly being), a romantic getaway, or a family trip. I will definitely go back. Thank you Jeff, Beth & Shar for a lovely stay at the Copper Fox!

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

When arriving at the cabin you instantly feel relaxed! The sights and sounds make you feel like you're a million miles away from the stresses of the real world! The property is absolutely beautiful. It snowed everyday we were there and it was absolutely beautiful. We loved watching the birds, squirrels, and even deer come close to the cabin! Inside is so rustic and cozy! The cabin is incredibly clean and has everything you need! Full kitchen was great, the beds were great and super comfortable, and the fireplace just made you feel so nice and relaxed! My husband and I throughly enjoyed our 4 days at the cabin and look forward to going back again! Owners are wonderful and very quick to respond! Overall, as someone that relies heavily on online reviews I was very pleased with this experience and can't wait to go back again soon!

Northern paradise at Copper Fox Lodge!!

  • 5 of 5

Words cannnot express what an amazing time we had at the Copper Fox Lodge!! From the minute we booked the trip, Jeff and Beth had immediately emailed us welcoming our arrival. They were full of details regarding the cabin and all the activities in and around town. When we arrived it took us about half an hour just to pick our jaws up from the floor at such a welcoming and warm atmosphere. We were greeted with beautiful music playing, a bottle of wine and a very nice note from the Copper Fox family welcoming us for our stay. The lodge was so much more than we even expected and the pictures are just a tease of the magical and serene place Jeff and Beth have to offer!! It is immaculate and decorated so warm and cozy!! The Christmas decorations are such a nice touch and really made us feel at home and that they truly cared and put thought into their guests stay. We woke up on the last day there to find 10 inches of snow and Jeff was right on the phone making sure we made it out safely. Thanks also to one of the caretakers ... Rob who plowed a path and saw also that we made it out safely. This place is beautiful .. The view of the river right out of the dining room windows while we ate was breathtaking .. And the many different birds we saw at the bird feeders and the wildlife was breathtaking!! If there is anything you forget to bring .. Don't even worry about it because Jeff had it there!! So much attention to detail to make your stay more than you could even imagine! We were sad to leave ... But so happy in knowing we found this place!! KUDOS TO JEFF!! Thanks for the memories and look for us to be back very soon!!
