About Jeff and Beth Turner

We are a happily married Christian couple - going on 30 years with two adult children. Jeff is retired from a career as an engineer in the field of mapping and 3D visualization. Beth spent her early years in banking but is most credited for being available for our children as they grew up. Jeff is an avid fisherman (especially fly fishing - and once fished 50 states in 50 consecutive days with our son); loves boating; woodworking; college basketball & football; and hiking. He even walked the 500 mile Camino de Santiago across Spain in 2014. Beth loves decorating, being a wonderful hostess, and staying connected with family and friends.

Why Jeff and Beth Turner chose Northern Michigan

In 2009, my son and I fished 50 States in 50 Days. Upon researching the legendary waters of Michigan we found the AuSable to stand apart in so many unique ways. When we fished/floated the AuSable for the first time we were hooked. After several years of searching we finally discovered what is now known as the Copper Fox Lodge. Its uniqueness, setting, and beauty can only be appreciated in person.

Riverside Relaxation

Warm and inviting cabin with all the comforts of home, plus one: the beautiful Au Sable river. Fantastic view out the windows and even better down by the shore. Great firepit and a memorable location to get away from it all. The owners and caretaker have created a home that spoils you in every way. We hope to visit again.

Tranquility and Luxury in one fabulous package!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived to soft lighting and mood music, to the moment of our departure with the AuSable bidding farewell, we felt as though we were honored guests. As owner Jeff Turner had promised, "Everything, everything, everything" was perfectly presented and thoroughly enjoyed. The grounds, the home, and all the appointments were immaculate and the décor was tasteful and elegant. We loved Copper Fox Lodge and we hope to return someday (as well as, perhaps, enjoy Gold Fox Lodge as well).

Absolutely Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

The cabin, the surroundings, the river, and the wildlife were all absolutely fabulous. It's all been said already, which made it easy to choose The Copper Fox as our getaway. It is a true piece of heaven on earth! The canoe trip on the Ausable was awesome and the local people were helpful and friendly. The hiking trails were scenic and fun. We spent a rainy afternoon shopping in the Amish area which was a great experience. And Jeff's "not to miss" dining venue, The Garland Lodge, is just that...not to miss! The only negative was having to leave, but hopefully will be able to make it back someday.

Wonderful stay

  • 5 of 5

The 5 of us enjoyed our stay at Copper Fox Lodge as well as any place we have rented. Wonderfully comfortable, great setting, fire pit with plenty of excellent firewood and a kitchen that is stocked with plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, etc.

A Dream Cabin!

  • 5 of 5

When you think of the most ideal cabin in the woods, this is it! The setting alone is magical. Serene, clean, perfectly stocked kitchen & fabulous fireplace. But watching and listening to the incredible Au Sable River just outside, was my very favorite memory. Our group had made reservations for dinner during our stay, but we immediately cancelled them all when we walked into The Copper Fox Lodge. Why drive anywhere, when you can make your own dinner in a fairytale setting? We loved it, and we thank you for the memory!

A very cozy, and inviting cabin on the Au Sable

  • 5 of 5

I hesitate to write a review because the Copper Fox is one of those rare places that you would want to keep to yourself. First of all Jeff (and Beth) were extremely helpful, providing accurate directions (even GPS doesn't know where this is), suggesting places to eat, and providing a comprehensive list of common questions about the cabin.

When we arrived late we fully intended to eat out, but the setting was so beautiful and comfortable, we stayed in, cooking in the well stocked kitchen, started a fire in the fire pit, and enjoyed a glass of wine listening to the wildlife ( a pair of Canadian Geese were ushering in baby chicks in the field across the river), and river ( oh, the river), and never considered eating out again.

The caretaker, Shar, lives nearby and was very responsive to a call for additional soap.

The fishing was excellent. My wife and I caught steelhead and trophy Browns, and numerous smaller trout.

My only regret is that we didn't spend more time at the cabin, as we fished everyday.

We travel a lot around the world, and very rarely return to a place once visited, but we will to the cozy confines of the Copper Fox overlooking the Au Sable.
