The gazebo and fire ring are great gathering places – and the cottage a perfect respite of warmth and comfort. Fine fishing, mountain biking and forays for all. Looking forward to our return.”

About Jeff and Beth Turner

We are a happily married Christian couple - going on 30 years with two adult children. Jeff is retired from a career as an engineer in the field of mapping and 3D visualization. Beth spent her early years in banking but is most credited for being available for our children as they grew up. Jeff is an avid fisherman (especially fly fishing - and once fished 50 states in 50 consecutive days with our son); loves boating; woodworking; college basketball & football; and hiking. He even walked the 500 mile Camino de Santiago across Spain in 2014. Beth loves decorating, being a wonderful hostess, and staying connected with family and friends.

Why Jeff and Beth Turner chose Northern Michigan

In 2009, my son and I fished 50 States in 50 Days. Upon researching the legendary waters of Michigan we found the AuSable to stand apart in so many unique ways. When we fished/floated the AuSable for the first time we were hooked. After several years of searching we finally discovered what is now known as the Copper Fox Lodge. Its uniqueness, setting, and beauty can only be appreciated in person.

Perfect Log Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Nestled between nature and the beautiful Au Sable River this cabin is literally a perfect escape from the every day hustle and bustle. The Copper Fox Lodge family has thought of everything. It started from the moment we opened the door to find music and a warm cozy fire waiting. Next we found homemade banana bread, wine, and a handwritten card welcoming us. Because of all of the amenities they have thought to include you feel like you are staying at a friend's home not renting a vacation property. Great care was taken to make sure we had and knew everything we may possibly need to stay comfortably in the cabin and explore the surrounding areas. The cabin is immaculately clean, filled with cozy furniture and blankets, and tastefully decorated. The pride the local caretakers take in caring for your stay and property is evident in every single detail. We highly recommend a stay at the Copper Fox.

Cozy cabin on the river in lovely setting

  • 4 of 5

This cabin was a lovely place to stay and all the amenities are provided. It was very well organized and we felt very welcome. The setting on the Au Sable River in the woods was so beautiful and quiet. The owners and caretaker were very gracious and helpful. We would love to stay again. The window views out to the river were wonderful. It is a bit tricky to find, but a well hidden treasure.

Owner's Response: It was a true delight to be able to host Lisa and her friends and look forward to hosting them again soon! We thoroughly enjoyed reading the glowing comments Lisa and her friends wrote in our guest book regarding the cabin, river, atmosphere, ambiance, and setting.  Lisa was so thoughtful in calling our caretaker when they arrived to express their appreciation for everything.  Shar always enjoys spoiling our guests if she gets the chance. Finding out that a nighttime arrival in the snow can be a challenge -  we are updating our directions and also adding a better landmark on our road to help future guests.

Riverside Relaxation

  • 5 of 5

Warm and inviting cabin with all the comforts of home, plus one: the beautiful Au Sable river. Fantastic view out the windows and even better down by the shore. Great firepit and a memorable location to get away from it all. The owners and caretaker have created a home that spoils you in every way. We hope to visit again.

Tranquility and Luxury in one fabulous package!

  • 5 of 5

From the moment we arrived to soft lighting and mood music, to the moment of our departure with the AuSable bidding farewell, we felt as though we were honored guests. As owner Jeff Turner had promised, "Everything, everything, everything" was perfectly presented and thoroughly enjoyed. The grounds, the home, and all the appointments were immaculate and the décor was tasteful and elegant. We loved Copper Fox Lodge and we hope to return someday (as well as, perhaps, enjoy Gold Fox Lodge as well).

Absolutely Fabulous

  • 5 of 5

The cabin, the surroundings, the river, and the wildlife were all absolutely fabulous. It's all been said already, which made it easy to choose The Copper Fox as our getaway. It is a true piece of heaven on earth! The canoe trip on the Ausable was awesome and the local people were helpful and friendly. The hiking trails were scenic and fun. We spent a rainy afternoon shopping in the Amish area which was a great experience. And Jeff's "not to miss" dining venue, The Garland Lodge, is just that...not to miss! The only negative was having to leave, but hopefully will be able to make it back someday.

Wonderful stay

The 5 of us enjoyed our stay at Copper Fox Lodge as well as any place we have rented. Wonderfully comfortable, great setting, fire pit with plenty of excellent firewood and a kitchen that is stocked with plenty of kitchen utensils, pots and pans, etc.
