About Luffi and Anna

About Luffi and Anna:

Me and Anna bought a summerhouse ½ kilometers from the cabin in 2006 and we have spend a lot of time there. 2011 we started to build the cottage and it was ready in January 2013. We like to share this nature to others so we decided to rent our cottage.

Luffi and Anna purchased this cottage in 2013

Why Luffi and Anna chose Iceland

The nature around this cottage is unique, and it is nice to have the river Rangá so close.

What makes this cottage unique

This is so close to the mountains and the amazing nature of Iceland.

Lovely cabin

  • 5 of 5

Luffi and Anna are absolutely fantastic!! My partner and I arrived during an extreme weather warning with heaps of snow and strong winds, so the conditions were bad. We rented a small 4x4 (you wouldn't want anything less) and drove from the airport to the cabin after picking up the keys from the owners. With the weather being bad we drove very slowly and most signs were covered with snow which made navigating somewhat of a challenge. As we drove up the driveway our car got thoroughly stuck in knee deep snow, about 100meters away from the hut. We tried to dig out the car but it was impossible! So we texted Luffi for help - especially as we booked to go to the blue lagoon early the next day.

It was about 9pm when Luffi and Anna arrived in their truck; they had driven for about an hour and a half just to come and rescue us! It was brilliant, they were so kind!

After getting the car stuck/rescued we made sure to park it at the far end of the driveway so we didn't have any further problems. The roads to the cottage were icy on the first few days but by the end of our stay they were clear and easily passable. The weather was really unusual though, and it didn't detract from the enjoyment of our stay.

The cottage itself was lovely and warm and the kitchen was new and nicely presented. We didn't have any problems with the cabin, it was clean, cosy and had everything we needed. We spent most of our time during the day driving to different attractions and it was great to come back to somewhere warm and quiet.

We had a great adventure and the owners are excellent, they went above and beyond to take care of us. Would go back again.

Nice spot, but with a few downsides

  • 3 of 5

We, a young couple with our baby, found the quiet cottage in a good but not completely clean condition, as there were dust and dirt below the bed and lot of hair on the sofa. The equipment in the house was satisfying. We've found everything we needed. However, although we stated that we were arriving with our baby, the owner was not able to provide a baby cot (the only accommodation in Iceland on our trip which didn't do that) and did not prepare linen and towel for her.

Since it was quite cold the days we were there, we needed the heating, but although we incremented the temperature on the device, and although it ran and ran, it didn't really get warmer inside. Hence, we heated with the oven, which we know is really not recommended.

Furthermore, due to an unfortunate situation of the owner, he was not able to meet us in person to provide the keys. Hence, we had to pay the rent per bank transfer instead of handing it over in cash. But although it was not our fault, he wanted us to add a small fee for bank transfer, which btw he already claimed for paying the deposit. This fee was not stated in the conditions on the internet site!

Last but not least, the cleaning is optional. You may do it yourself, which we found a good solution. However, this allows the chance of getting a dirty sofa on arrival... If you like to include the cleaning, be aware that the conditions are contradictory. The internet offer shows a different (smaller) cleaning fee than in the document provided by the owner. Unfortunately, I'm not allowed to tell you the exact amounts due to the review guidelines of HomeAway.

Altogether, this cottage offers the opportunity for a very nice and quiet Iceland holiday, but it would be better to know all these little drawbacks in advance.

Great house =)

  • 5 of 5

Very nice house. The owner is very friendly and helpful. The road to the house is a little adventure, but our small Toyota Yaris managed the gravel road every day ;).

In the area are lots of things to do (hiking, fishing, horses, beautiful landscapes...).

We had a wonderful time there!

Lovely property!

  • 5 of 5

Lovely property, very well maintained and well situated for driving to Eyjafjallajokull and Landmannalaugar. The property is a little off the beaten track, however easy to get to by car. - Luffi was very helpful and gave us some tips for local places to visit. Would recommend!

Cant wait to go back!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic stay at Luffi and Anna's cottage. It is cozy, well-maintained and was perfect for us. For us this cottage was perfect, easy access to fun trails to hike and drive around Hekla and through nice landscape we found some hidden pearls, this also thanks to Luffi who was a super help in any way possible, he gave us perfect directions, tips on good locations to see, all day round help if anything would happen and off course returned our lost glove on the drive way upon the day of departure :D I would absolutely recommend this stay to anyone since I will go back myself!
