Your search for that special place in the sun and the ultimate Bahamian beach experience has been rewarded with the discovery of Cocodimama, Eleuthera’s most charming beachfront resort, now available for rental to private groups.
Cocodimama is situated at the center of picture-perfect Alabaster Bay’s spectacular beach, recently featured on the cover of Conde Nast Travler. Alabaster Beach stretches for a mile along the crystal clear azure waters of the Caribbean Sea. The island is so narrow at this point that guests can stroll to the Atlantic Ocean to enjoy the splendor of miles of uninterrupted pink sand beach as they watch the Atlantic’s blue-green waters roll ashore over nearby reefs. The combination of the Caribbean Sea, Atlantic Ocean, rolling green hills, and two extraordinary beaches presents our resort guests with a one of kind experience.
The resort’s colonial Main House (the white and blue building in the photos) is the perfect gathering spot for large groups. This very large and comfortable beachfront interior features a spacious lounge area with sofas, a very large dining room, commercial kitchen, full bar and bar area with flat screen TV, and men’s and women’s rest rooms. Outside the dining room, the spacious beachfront deck is the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal or an evening cocktail and our legendary sunsets. The yellow, green, and red buildings in the photos each contain 4 hotel rooms. Each room has a full en-suite bathroom. All of our spacious rooms are direct beachfront, steps from the sand, and feature unobstructed beach, ocean, and sunset views.
Cocodimama is rented out to just one group at a time. You will have the entire resort and its pink-sand beach to yourself. The number of rooms provided will depend on the size of your group. Daily housekeeping is included. For groups of 25 or larger, we will also include the two-bedroom, two-bath manager's suite, which brings the total number of bedrooms to 14.
Cocodimama is located just six miles (less than a 10-minute drive) from Governors Harbour, the main town on the island. Governors Harbour has a charming collection of 19th century homes and churches overlooking its historic harbor. Buy fresh fish and lobster every afternoon from fisherman at the town dock, or visit the recently restored Haynes Library, which dates from 1897, for the weekly coffee hour for foreign residents and tourists. . Governors Harbour has grocery stores, restaurants, liquor stores, two banks with ATMs, a bakery, gift shops, and a medical clinic. Friday night Fish Fry in Governors Harbour, a street/beach party that brings together all the tourists and locals with food, drink, and dancing in the street, is not to be missed.
Cocodimama is just two miles from the boutique luxury resort Sky Beach Club, which has an excellent beachfront restaurant and infinity pool, with swim up cocktail bar and poolside service all day long. Other restaurants in the area include Tippy’s (international and fusion) and The Rainbow Inn (famous for its steaks). The above all have live music one or more nights a week, so there is live entertainment somewhere nearby almost every night. The Governors Harbour area also has numerous little takeouts and restaurants offering local cuisine, including Da Perk (coffee and sandwich shop), The Buccaneer (salads, burgers, wraps), Mate and Jenny’s (pizza and Bahamian) and the Sunset Inn (local cuisine).
Eleuthera is most famous for its 100 miles of spectacular, deserted beaches. The island, home to just 8000 residents, is completely safe any time of the day or night. Enjoy the rare experience of picking up hitch-hikers and leaving your keys in the car wherever you go. The snorkeling, diving, and fishing on the island are world class. Boating, surfing, and other water sports are also popular. You can rent power boats, sailboats, sea kayaks, bikes. You can have a charter captain take you out for excursions of various types.
We rented the entire resort for a company sales retreat. There were 30 of us and the resort worked beautifully. We had a spectacular experience from start to finish. Annie, the house manager, greeted us with warmth and hospitality and helped us get settled. We hired Susan and her fabulous husband Teddy to take care of all of our food / catering. The meals were deeeee-licious! I have traveled extensively throughout the Caribbean and own property on St. John in the USVI. The beach in front of Cocodimama and throughout the island were some of the most spectacular beaches I have ever seen. Everyone had a fantastic time. The locals were kind and inviting and we can't wait to go back! This is a Must Not Miss!
Wonderful vacation---very relaxing! Cocodimama is great for large groups or families with privacy for everyone in their rooms and a nice gathering spot for eating and games, etc. The Charlows are wonderful for food service! Matt Simon is awesome to work with for booking!
Cocodimama was a beautiful resort to have our family reunion! We had 25 family members at the resort. There was plenty of space for all of us to have our own rooms and to gather in the "lodge" to eat and visit. The rooms were exceptionally clean and refreshing with crisp linens and great AC to relax in after hanging on the beach and swimming in the crystal clear waters. Communication with the property manager was easy and they were available if you needed anything. The property manager arranged for us to have a private cook. Teddy and Susan were spectacular cooks and offered fresh food, snacks and drinks everyday we were there. We would highly recommend this get away to anyone! You will not be disappointed in your stay.
First of all, this location was (is) incredible. The beach is foot steps away from each of the buildings and it slips into the bay to form a long and shallow swimming and wading area. Perfect for kids, and there is very good snorkeling very close by. Second, the buildings, facilities and general layout are very comfortable and perfect for a large group that doesn't really want to be on top of one another all the time. Third, Annie, the property manager, and her staff we so attentive and helpful that they added an additional layer to an already incredible experience. Thank you all.
I can't say enough good things about Cocodimama. It's a special place for my wife and I. The location is perfect, if you are looking to get away from it all. It is literally footsteps to the water. The Caribbean Ocean is calm, the water is crystal clear and refreshing. The rooms are clean, simple, comfortable, and classy. Annie, the manager and her staff, are warm and welcoming. If you are looking to get off the grid and unwind, I have yet to find a better place. I will definitely go back again and would recommend it to family and friends.
I cannot say enough glowing, wonderful remarks on Annie, the onsite property manager. She was there to greet us, answer our many many questions with a knowledgeable smile, and had so much information. She checked on us frequently to make sure everything was perfect. We went to Eleuthera for our wedding and she really tied all the strings to make it come together. She told us where to shop and even got us a last min photographer. She truly encompasses good quality customer service. The resort itself is amazing, very clean, and on a gorgeous stretch of beach. From the personal chef to the grounds keeper... I would not change a thing. Location is great, just 10 min for Governors Harbor and about 3 min from the airport. If you have a large group I could not recommend this resort more.
