My wife and I first came to Savannah in 2005. We sold a small rental home we owned in Peachtree City, GA and decided to re-invest in a rental home along the eastern coast. The search was on and it started in Savannah and we worked our way up past Charleston. At the end of the search we came to the realization that we love the look the feel and the general laid back vibe of Savannah.
In general I would say that our top ten reasons of why we love Savannah are below:
10) The low country waterways and the smell of the marsh
9) The proximity to the ocean and all the tributaries
8) Fishing and time on the water
7) The Downtown and all the parks
6) The history of Savannah
5) The hauntings and the stories/myths that lie behind the fables
4) Traveler drinks – Solo cups and alcoholic beverages can be taken for a stroll anywhere in the downtown vicinity
3) SCAD – the fact that the whole downtown also is vibrant with students
2) The Pubs and Bars
1) The many fabulous restaurants
We hope you enjoy your stay in Savannah as much as we enjoy everything that it has to offer.

Oglethorpe Lodge is a historic building, circa 1853 , in the heart of all the activities. Although it is historic it has been updated to a modern hotel and when you enter you will feel like it is your new home away from home. Each unit offers a full kitchen and a salon for hanging with friends. As much as you will enjoy the amenities offered within Oglethorpe Lodge you truly appreciate your location. Centrally located on Bay Street in the heart of Savannah's historic district and Savannah's Riverwalk. When you leave the lodge you can easily stroll to the majority of what Downtown Savannah has to offer.
There are several unique benefits when staying at The Oglethorpe Lodge. First and probably foremost is LOCATION. You will be in the heart of what Downtown Savannah has to offer. Also unique to the Lodge is free off street parking. One parking spot for each unit. When you want to stop and chill, enjoy the courtyard of the Lodge. It offers a spot to stay outside away from the crowd and relax.
I've visited Savannah and Tybee Island since I was a kid. I now have grandkids. We prefer staying in the Historic District, within walking distance of many historic sites, restaurants, such as Paula Dean's; the Riverfront, where there are many shops, restaurants and entertainment, as well as Market Square a must see/visit. The Oglethorpe Lodge in the perfect location and provides perfect accommodations for a family of 4 or more; 2-bedrooms, plus sofa pull-out, 2-baths, full complement kitchen, right in the heart of the Historic District. The Oglethorpe Lodge is an excellent place to stay.
This place was perfect! It is right in the middle of downtown and within walking distance to everything. The river is across the street and there are numerous restaurants and shopping nearby. There is a bar/restaurant next door (basically at the bottom of the stairs) called Treylor Park that is delicious! They had a great brunch and good nightlife that was not too loud at all. The place was fully equipped with anything you might need and very cute and spacious. The bed was so comfortable! Checking in and out was very easy. There is a gorgeous patio/courtyard that is great for relaxing after a long day touring the city! One of the best parts is that you get a reserved parking spot! I would recommend this place to anyone wanting the full experience of the city and I would definitely return!
I stayed here with several colleagues during a work conference that was taking place at the Hyatt a block away. We couldn't have been more satisfied. The suite was beautifully decorated, the beds were comfortable, and the amenities all perfectly described in the listing. The suite is centrally located to all the great restaurants, shops, and architecture in Historic Savannah. I look forward to returning to this exquisite suite with friends and family for a proper vacation visit.
Perfect location in the old historic district, within easy walking distance to great restaurants, pubs and parks. A block from River Street. Spacious, very clean and comfortable, with full kitchen and appliances that work, several flat screen TVs and WiFi. Comfy beds and linens, plenty of blankets, towels, etc. Easy keyless code entry. The walled courtyard is newly landscaped and private. Owners and staff are very accommodating and responsive. So much better than a hotel!!
For the price, this place can't be beat. The location is excellent, I'd say 9.5 out of 10! It's spacious enough to comfortably house a large family...for us seven guys it was tight but totally manageable.
The quality was a tad bit lackluster (carpets are old, kitchen is pretty simple, one shower is really tiny) but nothing really to complain about. You won't get extravagance at such a great price. The little details were great though. Well managed...they offer three nice flat screen TVs with good service, great wifi including backup router, memory foam mattresses (!), tons of extra pillows, towels and bed sheets.
The only negative during our stay was a weak central AC unit which made the first night and part of the second day quite tough. But the management responded quickly to our complaints and got things fixed well for the rest of our stay.
In summary: great service/details, decent physical space, excellent location!
We stayed here for our daughter's wedding weekend. We rented the all three units. My wife, daughter and I stayed in the middle floor Suite 902. The groom and the best man stayed in the top floor Suite 903 until after the wedding. My wife's sister and family stayed in the first floor Suite 901. The courtyard was a great meeting place for everyone to gather. This is a great place for destination weddings or if a family wants to stay in one location with separate space. We also loved the location. It is close to all the activities of Savannah. We would definitely stay here the next time we are in Savannah. The owners also provided folding tables and a large cooler to help with the entertaining of everyone during the evenings. They were very helpful with all the planning and special requests.
My family and in-laws each had a two bedroom suite the week of our wedding. At first we had the reservation with the previous owner. What frustration! We were so happy when it changed hands! They were so helpful with everything and even offered to put out extra tables for our catered BBQ rehearsal dinner in the courtyard of the apartments. It was easy to call them for extra towels, toilet paper, and ask questions about the reservations. We would definitely stay here again. The location is the best too!
Oglethorpe Lodge is located right across from the Savannah Riverfront. The Riverfront offers magnificent views of the river and any boats traversing the river. The Riverfront is also a popular area for shopping, unique restaurants and bars, and art galleries. Oglethorpe lodge is also located just steps away from Solomon's Lodge, which is the oldest Masonic lodge in Georgia and was founded by James Oglethorpe himself in 1734. We're also located around the corner of one of Savannah's numerous city parks, Reynolds Park.
