About Roald Eyvindsson

Hello, my name is Roald Eyvindsson and Im from Iceland. I'm a journalist and an editor and at the moment I´m writing a book. Am into arts, travel, excercise and GOOD FOOD :).

Why Roald Eyvindsson chose Reykjavik

I've always dreamt of living in an old house in Reykjavik's city center - close to all the buzz. But at the same time I wanted a comfortable place to retreat to. I finally got my change when I found an old off street house, in an increasingly popular and vibrant area, and decided to buy and renovate it to meet modern standards. And now I'm a proud owner of my own little paradise.

What makes this house unique

The style, old age and history of the house made me fall in love with it. Not to mention the location, the neighbourhood is just great with all necessities and attractions close at hand. And the house has two balcanies, where I love to drink coffee in the summer.

Guestbook comments from the manager

Beautiful house in the middle of Reykjavik only a couple of minutes walk from the main street and bars and restaurant. Everything worked perfectly and we loved Roald's books: it certainly felt like home. He also has every cook book and kitchen appliance known to man.

There is non meter parking a few streets away so there's no need to use car parks.

Probably the best place to stay in Reykjavik (even though I've only stayed in one place).

Lovely home!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was easy, from initial contact and booking through checkout. The house is exactly as pictured and was perfect for our family of three. The location was extremely quiet, but just a few minutes away from the main shopping street, grocery store, and the water. All communication with Roald was friendly, quick and thorough. Highly recommend this property!

Lovely House, Ideal Location!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time at this wonderful house in Reykjavik. The house is cozy, quiet, off the street but yet it's just a few minutes walk to the grocery store and a major shipping street. We also walked to the Old Harbour several times, it was roughly a 25 minute walk. The location was ideal for us, we could walk to shopping and restaurants and there is free parking on nearby streets if you need it.

The kitchen is perfectly equipped with everything you need and all in excellent working order. We cooked dinner and made lunches/breakfast which was convenient - eating out is expensive in Reykjavik so having a good kitchen to use is a huge help.

Roald was so nice and easy to deal with before, during and after our stay. He always answered my messages promptly and provided great info local restaurants, car rental, etc. Wonderful customer service!

The house is exactly as pictured and very clean & well maintained: it's beautifully designed, has wonderful art, books and is just very cozy and welcoming, with plenty of space for four people. Our kids slept on the pullout sofa, which my daughter declared to be the "most comfortable bed ever"!

This is a great place to stay in Reykjavik, I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Comfortable stay in a perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Highly recommended. The house came exactly as advertised and was perfect size/amenities for my wife and I. Place was very clean. TV and wifi worked flawlessly. We mostly ate out but the kitchen was well equipped. One of the main shopping streets (Laugavegur) is just one street over and takes under a minute to get to. There are many excellent restaurants and the cheap grocery store Bonus easily within waking distance. Booking tours was not a problem as we got picked up from the hotel Alda which is a 1 minute walk away- they have a nice big lobby there with lots of seating.

We arrived early in the morning and Roald was extremely helpful in letting us check in early. Communication with Roald before and during our stay was quick and friendly.

Only negative would be the sloped ceilings upstairs, for anyone tall you will need to watch your head getting in/out of bed but that was a very minor issue.

We would definitely stay there again and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet apartment that is still close to everything.

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

This house had everything we needed for a week-long stay. The location in downtown Reykjavik was perfect - walking distance to shops, restaurants, grocery store... Roald was very helpful with suggestions for places to eat, where to park our car, or anything we asked. We would definitely recommend this rental and would stay here again next time we are in Iceland.

Charming home in fantastic location in downtown Reykjavik

  • 5 of 5

From the very first contact with Roald till the time we left, it was perfect. Roald was incredibly helpful and super quick to respond, even though our booking was very last minute. The house is a charming cottage with everything you could possibly want. It was spotlessly clean and beautifully kept, with some lovely paintings. It felt very much a home and Roald did everything he could to make us feel welcome. The location is superb - two minutes from the main shopping area and 10 minutes walk to the old harbour and concert hall. For the two of us, it was the perfect setting for a short visit to Iceland. We loved it!
