There are no next door neighbors at Antler Ridge Cabin. All you'll see from the spacious front porch are the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. From the back deck, you'll see the Skyline Drive of the Shenandoah National Park. Situated at the edge of 52 acres of pasture and forest, Antler Ridge Cabin is the perfect romantic getaway for 2 in the Shenandoah Valley or a peaceful getaway for the family. Sightings of deer, wild turkeys, or even a bear are possible.
Inside the cabin, you will find all the necessities for a comfortable stay. The living room includes a TV with DVD player, Queen-size sleeper sofa, fireplace (but not for use in summer months), full kitchen with microwave, coffee maker, and everything you need to cook that special meal in the kitchen or on the grill out back.
The map only plots our property in Luray...it is 2 miles from Lake Arrowhead on Wintergreen Drive (or State Rd 746). At the end of that road, you go for approximately 0.3 miles on a private drive through our property to the cabin.
My husband and I both grew up in this area and reside within 10 minutes of the cabin. I am an elementary school principal and my husband is the county's Recreation Director. With 3 children, we never have a dull moment.
Amy Painter purchased this cabin in 2012
We purchased this property at auction in July 2012. It was a hunting cabin at the site of a hunt club and shooting range. We literally took the cabin down to its bare studs and built back a cabin that we can be proud of....a cabin that is cozy, comfortable, and has all the necessities of life.
This cabin has recently been renovated and we take pride in its restructure. We hope that renters will respect our hard work and appreciate nature at its finest.
My husband and I wanted to get away for a few days to visit Shenandoah National Park, and we chose Antler Ridge Cabin for our stay. The cabin was beautiful - the pictures don't do it justice - and very clean. The bed was super cozy, and the bathroom was like something out of a hotel. We had a great time and would come back to Antler Ridge Cabin again!
Truly a peaceful getaway. Had a great week. We would definitely book again.
Pros: Great location as a base for day hiking- it's minutes away from Shenandoah National Park! Very private and quiet. The cabin was cozy and clean. The back patio was fantastic for meals and the kitchen had everything we needed to cook - plus a complimentary snack! The shower stayed hot and had plenty of water pressure (something you don't always find in vacation rentals). Check-in/out was super easy with the keys in the lockbox.
Cons: Perhaps unavoidable due to the rustic location - but there was some sort of critter making noise in the attic right over the bed at night.
Overall, we enjoyed our stay!
We had a very pleasant stay and we would definitely like to return in the Fall. The cabin was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Being able to charcoal grill out back was a treat. A storm blew through the first night and cooled things off from the hot, 95 degree day. We hung out the rest of the night on the back porch listening the woods. We decided to take Skyline Drive North back to 66 East towards home in Arlington Va and captured some great video and pictures.
The cabin and location seemed ideal and we looked foward to a relaxing weekend in the middle of a hot weekend in August. Our disappointment was keen to discover a very warm cabin with an A/C that was not cooling properly. Right in front of the A/C the room was well in the 80's and the bedroom was almost 90. We touched base with the owners as directed and after they confirmed that it was turned on properly,we were left set. There were no attempts to correct it, No offers to help remedy the situation. The owners input "' Lucky for you there are ceiling fans! '"So we literally sweated it out.
I absolutely enjoyed my time at antler ridge. I got in late so Amy left the light on for me! I was able to easily access Old Rag mountain, the Shenandoah River, and the Luray Caverns. It is quiet, cozy, and secluded. I watched a rainstorm come in over the mountains from the front porch swing. The cabin was clean and they even provided me with some bottled water and a snack! I was very very pleased with my stay and would gladly stay here again in the future.
Side note: for Verizon wireless users, I literally had no service at this location so bring maps of the area to get around!
