Why Ken and Ronna Sorenson chose Fish Camp
Ken has been going to Fish Camp for over 50 years since he was 4 years old. His family used to stay at a family friend's cabin, which just so happens to be next door to this cabin!! When the owner/builder of this cabin was ready to sell, they offered the cabin to Ken and his parents before it even went on the market, as they knew it would be taken care of and kept special. We have been coming to this cabin as a family since our kids were just 13 and 8 years old and it holds such special memories. Since Ken's dad passed away in August 2012, we decided to share these memories by renting the cabin to other families so they can enjoy the love that surrounds our cabin.
What makes this Cabin unique
This cabin feels like you just stepped out of a storybook. It is surrounded by large pine trees, yet it has all the comforts of home.

Beautiful and clean!
We loved this VRBO! Clean, comfortable beds and furniture, and the kitchen had all utensils and pans, etc that I needed. Location was great--less than 10 min to the Giant Sequoias at Mariposa Grove and 45 min to Tunnel View in Yosemite. The cabin is so private and secluded, even though there are other cabins on the road--felt like we were alone in the woods. Loved our morning coffee on the deck with the wild birds singing and the light breeze blowing in the pines. I highly recommend this VRBO. I will stay here again if my family visits Yosemite in the future.
Our vacation was all about Yosemite. This cabin is 2 quick miles from the park entrance and exactly 1 hour to the floor of the valley (45 minutes to Glacier Point). This was just right because we wanted to avoid the cost of staying in Yosemite and escape the chaos of people at the end of a long day hiking. Oakhurst was 16 minutes the other direction for groceries. The cabin's deck and grill were lovely to enjoy breakfast and dinner. The neighborhood was perfectly quiet and peaceful. We were a little concerned when we saw that there were several cabins on top of each other. We felt isolated even though we weren't. My other concern was if there would be a smell in the cabin. There was no smell at all! It was clean and quite comfortable. Our 3 teens were cozy in the loft and used the basement bathroom. They had fun flushing the toilet LOL! I was extremely grateful for good laundry area. We did a load every day with our hiking clothes. The kitchen appliances worked well which was nice because we also used the dishwasher and stove every day. The coffee maker was not working. They had a new coffee maker in the kitchen by the time we got back from hiking that same day - perfect! We had to think ahead to make ice in ice trays for our hiking backpacks because the freezer does not make ice. We also purchased ice at the general store in Fish Camp 1 minute from the cabin. Furniture and beds were very comfortable. Purchasing fuel in Oakhurst was $4.09/gallon. We ate out 1 night in Oakhurst - DiCiccio's Italian Restaurant. Over the top delicious food served in humongous portions. Around $15-17/plate, side salad not included. The cabin was a nice touch to our outdoor-sy vacation!!! I would not have wanted to stay on the floor of Yosemite because of the number of people and it was crazy hot down there. And I'm not sure that a 45 to 60 minute drive is avoidable unless staying in Yosemite. The drive is gorgeous. This cabin in Fish Camp was ideal!
Overall the place was great. It was cozy but had ample sleeping space. It wasn't ready when we checked in, but otherwise things went well.
Great location - Very clean
Two couples enjoyed this property for 3 nights. We found the location to be perfect for our touring of Yosemite. The home and the gas grill on the deck were very clean. There is a small grocery store in Fish Camp that has necessities you might need and we found the Tenaya Lodge (across the street) to be a nice place to eat and grab a coffee to-go in the morning. Regarding the property, the only thing we didn't care for was the many outdoor cameras that seemed to be pointing in all directions -- mostly as we enjoyed deck/grilling time.
perfect family and friends cabin
Cute cabin .. loved the Christmas lights for mood ... cooked out on the deck and had great meal at the big family table outside .. owners were on top of everything ...
Perfect cabin in a great location
We had an awesome stay at The Little Cabin in The Big Woods! It was comfortable, clean and cozy. The location is perfect and it has everything you need for a fun filled stay in Yosemite. We enjoyed the deck and BBQ. We would definitely love to stay here again next time.
Located only 2 miles from the Yosemite gate and Mariposa Grove. Also only 13 miles to Bass Lake where you can rent a boat and water ski and water tubing. Also walking distance to the Tenaya Lodge, where they have restaurants, bar and many family activities
