A 'yankee' from Bucks County Pa.who vacationed on this lake for over 30 years. Fell in love with the simplicity of life in Canada you cannot help but to unwind.
Dale Rimmer purchased this cottage in 1990
The setting of this property is perfect all day summer breezes, clean clear water, absence of crowds, increadable views, and close to alot of quant towns.
Everything you need is here. Bring steaks for the BBQ or go to town by boat and enjoy a pint with 'poutine'. Cards , games, etc. are there just bring bedding, beach towels, toiletries, and your favorite pillow and your set.
We had a wonderful week at this lakeside retreat! We were all blow away when we arrived at the property. The view of the lake from the house was an incredible 190 degree vista of the most beautiful lake you can imagine. The large porch offered a screened in part for dining, and an open part for BBQ and being outside. The house is very much in the flavor of a Canadian rustic retreat that makes you feel at home instantly, and met our every need. We brought along a Kuerig for coffee since everyone had their preferences, but everything else is there. The Loons woke us up and sang us to sleep. A visit by a pair of baby racoon were great, and we saw beaver and otters! The owner is responsive to guests needs and made us feel very welcome. Thanks for a great vacation.
Spend countless hours on the Upper Rideau Lake boating, fishing (Walleye, Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike), water activities, while stopping in Westport village for shopping, hand dipped ice cream, local fare, and a cold pint, gas up boat and venture down Newboro canal through the historic Rideau Canal lock system and explore other lakes without getting out of your boat.Head north thru Narrows Lock onto the 'Big Rideau' (18 mls. long / 3oo ft deep) and try your luck fishing for Lake Trout or hire a guide at Portland if you wish.Another option is to take a day trip (1hour) by car to Gananaque for a 1000 Island double decker boat tour to Boldt Castle ( A must see !) This man built a castle to show his love for his wife who died only months before he was going to surprise her!.(Bummer) The castle was never completed due to his broken heart and the tour boats take you to this beautiful island to view for yourself ( pack a lunch).
