The view is fantastic, but the house needs some upgrades. A kitchen cabinet fell off the hinges when we opened it, the hot water didn't work in master bath jacuzzi tub, and ice maker didn't work. Also I wouldn't say it's suitable with children. The back deck is fabulous, but the bench seats are super high off the ground and a child could easily topple over the back of the bench that doesn't seem to have much support as is. Also the railing to upstairs loft are loose and seem like a hazard. Other than the bench and railings, the other things are minor fixes that I'm sure can be easily fixed with a day of maintenance.
We were a group of nine women in a 2 day golf tournament at Wolf Laurel and we had a wonderful time in this nice house. We loved the deck with the lovely views, the great room was attractive and comfortable, and the kitchen and large kitchen table for dining and games worked great. Also found the bedding on the top two floors and the loft comfortable and attractive. Not nice were the two windowless basement bedrooms. Otherwise a very nice property for a large group!
Beautiful Western views for as far as the eye could see. Easily accommodated our overflowing group of 14. Will definitely book again.
We come from the Midwest and really appreciated the gorgeous mountain view, setting and log cabin home. The ride up reminds you each time that you are in the mountains. We filled every bed and appreciated the many bedrooms, i think there are 5, plus a loft area w/ 4 single beds. That makes 14 adults and 2 small children. We never once felt crowded except in the parking of vehicles... but we made that work too without much effort. We lived on the extra large deck overlooking the view. When we arrived it appeared that we were lacking in some supplies and a phone call/ email was all it took. The cleaning staff arrived quickly and took care of everything with a most pleasant attitude and very apologetic. We had a wedding just down the mountain at MEMORY MOUNTAIN and it was a stunning venue. Highly recommend that you call Steve if you are looking for a unique venue. Asheville was a wonderful place to visit and explore and drink. The Biltmore was wonderful for us to visit. Loved the gardens. Mars Hill had some excellent eating establishments also, namely Papa Nicks which accommodated us for an anniversary lunch with outstanding food. The Appalachian Trail is a short distance down the road and a strenuous 2 mile hike was well worth taking early one morning! One of our guests is in a wheelchair and he was able to enter on his own. He was not able to get to the lower level where the pool table was but the pool table was trumped by the amazing deck w/ view! There are two nice main floor bedrooms and bathrooms. There is WiFi and it worked most of the time from one place or another in the house. If you are looking for a large place w/ separate bedrooms for couples or kids, i would highly recommend this great place. The only down side is the deck overhanging the mountain has a slight gap that makes some people nervous about toddlers or crawlers being out there.
The lay out of the place is odd, the construction very cheesy, and there is a lot of deferred maintenance that needs attention. I say the lay out is odd because unless you are out on the porch, there really is no where for more than just a few folks to "hang out". If you do go, understand there will be absolutely nothing in the kitchen other than pans and utensils. Normally folks will have something - open olive oil, salt, pepper, etc. but not here, so bring absolutely anything you need.
The view is nice but there are many better places in Wolf Laurel. Regarding the Restaurant at the club it's really pretty awful but it's the only game in town. Cook on your own and eat on the porch. You'll enjoy it.
This mountain home was perfect for our family gathering. We had 11 people: 6 adults and 5 teens and we had tons of space. Everything was clean and comfortable. This house is HIGH up in Wolf Laurel resort...the weather was a bit dicey the night we arrived, and the 2 vehicles without 4 wheel drive could not make it past the entry gate. Just something to keep in mind during winter months! William was very quick to respond to any questions, and we would definitely stay here again!
