My fiancee and I rented Greta's house for the whole winter and couldn't have had a more magical time. The location/scenery is perfect, the house itself is beyond charming, and Greta is a dream host - responsive yet respectful at the same time. I miss not being there and hope to return as soon as I can, but at least in the meantime I have fond memories to last the rest of my life. Thank you Greta!
We visited for the weekend and overall it was a great experience. The house was big and clean and the homeowner had everything detailed for us for what we needed. Anybody that is looking for a place to a stay in the area I would highly recommend staying at this property.
I live in NYC and love the opportunity to retreat to the country for a weekend. Greta's house offers me that opportunity. It's set on a hill among tall trees with gorgeous views and on a clear night, since I don't see them very often in NYC, I get to see the stars in their fill splendor. I love the clean, crisp air of the country, too. It's a wonderfully relaxing escape from my daily life in the big city.
As I sit looking across the New York City skyline on this hot and humid May day, I imagine myself back in the serenity of Woodland Valley, the retreat haven of choice for our family for the last 5 years. The house is a short drive from Phoenicia. There are plenty of day trips from the cabin no matter the time of year, from hiking, river tubing to snow tubing and skiing. We like to take long drives through the small upstate towns just exploring. But that's only if you feel like leaving the cozy confines of the cabin and the open, light-filled, airy extension. Clean, well-maintained, and spacious, the house has several nooks to get away for quiet reading as well as places for communal gathering and conversation. Some of the highlights include the wood burning stove and if you have kids, the loft area over the kitchen! I love to hear my kids from the relaxing porch on the back deck, deep in conversation exploring the beautiful woods surrounding the house, their voices echoing off the mountainside. There are some places that just feel like home, and Woodland Valley is one of them.
This rental is a beautiful home. The home has a charming beautiful cottage on one side, with many handmade wood finishes and details. Then you enter a new addition to the home, with a wall of windows and a magnificent view of the woods. There is also a view of a pond in the distance. The home has lots of natural light and is surrounded mountain views from each window. You can feel this home is loved by the owners and renters alike. This is a great rental in an area immersed by immense natural beauty and an abundance of hiking. Wonderful dining is also nearby. I highly recommend this rental. The owner also is extremely helpful and has always been available for any questions about the home or area. Enjoy!
We had a wonderful weekend! This house is ideal- filled with great windows /books /furniture +. We arrived at night and woke up surrounded by perfect fall foliage and greenery. This house has a great yard and porch (fenced in perfect for our whippet mix) and only a 3minute drive into town. Very comfortable, so reasonable $ and clean.
