Reviewer Comments:

We stayed for a weekend in January. Location very good although check in at 4pm and out at 10am made for a very short stay. They sent email on Saturday night stating later checkout might be considered in off season if pre-arranged which could not be done at that point. Don't plan to use any dishes morning of checkout because they need to be washed and put away before you go. Fireplace was nice. Summer likely the best time to realize value for the price.

Owner's Response: We would have been happy to allow a late check out. Of course we are not open in the evening and we are closed in the winter on Sunday. It is a good idea to let us know, if possible before your arrival and we would make that arrangement.

Quaint but charming

  • 5 of 5

The property was set in the most beautiful area, full of trees. Don't expect a mansion with modern furniture and a spotless environment, but it made us feel like we were a part of nature. It was such a nice getaway from the city, and the weather was actually fairly chilly for August which was a nice change from our home in New Mexico!

Everyone in our party loved the house! We had such a great time - enjoyed the natural setting and the charm of the house . Had room with the two floors and outdoor space to move about. Appreciated the nice kitchen for cooking and the kitchen dinette for lingering over morning coffee. Great views of the lake !

Reviewer Comments:

We stayed in August 2015 and opted for Splash Landing for a few reasons- it accommodated our large group size, was on a beautiful lake with a diving platform, and was the least expensive of our choices. By the end of the vacation, many of us were regretting our decision. The location was perfect- just outside Traverse city and on a beautiful lake. Being located on a peninsula, it had quiet roads that were great for walking and even had a nice park that we spent the majority of our time at. With that being said, the cabin was not at all what we had hoped for. The diving platform was COVERED in sea gull poop and completely unusable. That was one of the biggest draws to this cabin and a huge disapointment. But even if it had been clean, the water is so shallow even out past the platform that it would not have been ideal for jumping, let alone diving. The cabin was literally falling apart. No air conditioning was a huge negative and one of the windows was broken and falling out of the frame when opened. The basement shower was TINY- your head almost literally touched the ceiling in the shower- and the basement ceiling barely accommodated our family (who are no more than 5'9" tall.) The most disgusting part about the cabin, though, was it's lack of cleaning. We found a swimsuit on the floor in one of the bedrooms, which clearly means it was either not vacuumed at all or the cleaners just vacuumed around it. There was a distinct smell of urine coming from one of the upstairs bedrooms and after a day of sleeping in there, one of our family members checked the closet and found a garbage can filled with newspaper SOAKED in URINE!!! HOW DISGUSTING!!! After this experience, we will never book through a 3rd party again and we all expected MUCH MORE from Visit Up North Vacation Rentals.

Long Lake is a beautiful sparkling clean all-sport 2800 acre lake. Bring your water toys and soak in the sun. Long Lake also has 7 islands and great fishing. This area offers gently rolling terrain traveling around the lakes.Connecting to Long Lake is Mickey Lake a crystal clear lake that channels (only boats smaller than 19 feet through channel) into Long Lake and offers no-wake peacefulness! Local grocery stops along the way. Just minutes to the hub of Traverse City, Interlochen and Lake Michigan’s Grand Traverse Bay. These are perfect lakes to spend a vacation on!
