Reviewer Comments:

We stayed here for a week with a large family party. In fact we rented two houses. Splash Landing met our needs in terms of size but it wasn't as nice as I'd hoped. Two of the bedrooms are in the basement. The kitchen is small and dark. The main floor bedrooms are dated but nice. It would be a great location for a group of guys on a fishing trip or those looking for a more rustic cabin.

Reviewer Comments:

We were very disappointed in the property when we arrived. It was not clean. Both bathtubs did not drain. There were spiders all over the house. The carpet was wet in the front bedroom and had a bad musty smell. We contacted the rental office and they said they would get back with us and they never did. We will not rent from here again.

Reviewer Comments:

Location is great: secluded and sunny. But like house and yard were not good for young kids, The house had a nail sticking up from the floor under the rug in the living room. The stairs to lower level were difficult to navigate and borderline dangerous in terms of slope. The Windows had gaping holes in frames allowing bugs in, and they are such that they barely let air in or out. The yard is all dirt with no grass. The steps to the beach and dock have old steel pipes sticking up between uneven blocks and steps. The tub upstairs was so slippery we had to purchase our own bath mat. The bathroom down stairs was so small it was difficult for an adult to maneuver. The downstairs screen door would not shut or securely. With field mice and other animals running around this presented a problem. The dock is very narrow and rickety, again using old steel pipes that if someone fell and hit would cause a serious injury. It would not take a lot of money to make this place safe for kids and much more enjoyable. Some grass would make the backyard something other than a dust and mud bowl. The slope of the hill to the water made the site very dangerous for young children or older adults with mobility issues. The beach was narrow but nice.

Reviewer Comments:

We had a great time at Splash Landing. The cottage was big enough to accommodate 10 people. The boat lift was an added bonus--so easy to put our boat in and out of the water. There were a couple of things that were lacking--there were not enough forks for all 10 of us. We ended up having to buy some plastic forks to use. Also, there was only 1 dishcloth, dish towel and potholder. We needed more and ended up using some of the bath towels and cloths in the kitchen. The basement level had a few cobwebs in the corners, but nothing terrible. The basement is definitely not for tall people--watch your head going down the stairs! These were very minor issues and certainly would not deter us from staying at Splash Landing again.

With the dogs playing in the water, we had a door to the downstairs where they could dry off (no carpets down there!). We had enough yard for our dogs and kids to run around the house and play crazy tag. With all the windows by the dining room table, us adults could drink our coffee in peace while watching the kids collect rocks. It was a perfect first time cabin and we plan on visiting and using Visit Up North again. The women that answered the phone were friendly and helpful.

We stayed for a weekend in January. Location very good although check in at 4pm and out at 10am made for a very short stay. They sent email on Saturday night stating later checkout might be considered in off season if pre-arranged which could not be done at that point. Don't plan to use any dishes morning of checkout because they need to be washed and put away before you go. Fireplace was nice. Summer likely the best time to realize value for the price.

Owner's Response: We would have been happy to allow a late check out. Of course we are not open in the evening and we are closed in the winter on Sunday. It is a good idea to let us know, if possible before your arrival and we would make that arrangement.
