Our sunset chalet offers a quiet setting in the middle of 60 acres. Sit on the deck while enjoying panoramic views over Lake Michigan including Beaver Island continuing north towards Wilderness State Park, four lighthouses and the sanddunes in the Upper Penninsula. Wildlife such as deer, wild turkeys, cranes, eagles and many other birds are abundant in the area.
The chalet has a complete kitchen, full bath and a spacious living room with a stone fireplace on the main floor. The upstairs has two bedrooms each with a queen bed, a sitting room with twin trundle beds, a full bathroom and walk out deck.
Cross Village has a local beach with swimming and a small boat launch. More public beaches are located to the north at Sturgeon Bay with miles of beach and hiking trails which include the North Country Trail. Cross Village is located at the north end of the Tunnel of Trees on M-119. There are two nice restaurants near the village, Legs Inn and the Crow's Nest. Cross Village is only 20 minutes away from Harbor Springs and Mackinaw City. A day trip to Mackinac Island is a favorite for visitors. Boyne Highlands, Maple Ridge and Hidden River are available for golf.
This is a great place for hiking , biking, swimming or just relaxing and curling up to read a book.

This was an exceptionally wonderful experience for my husband and myself, along with my daughter and her family. Our two granddaughters loved the pond and the deck. We loved watching the Lake Michigan sunsets and the wildlife. With so much acreage, the property is quiet and relaxed, yet so close to Lake Michigan and Petoskey and Harbor Springs to the south and Mackinaw City and beyond to the north. We took full advantage of the proximity, swimming on a beautiful Lake Michigan beach recommended to us by Margaret, the chalet's wonderful owner, and took the easy drive to catch the ferry to Mackinac Island and to see the Soo Locks and museum. The house is so pleasant and easy to be in. Margaret and Stan have thought of everything, and it is every bit as beautiful (and more) as you see in the photos they have posted. Margaret met us the first night and oriented us to the house and the area and then we were on our own to spend the delightful and delicious week at the house together as a family, making memories. I would Most definitely recommend this rental to anyone. Beautiful house, beautiful area and wonderful, easy to work with owners. Thank you so much, Margaret and Stan!
We spent our first family vacation in Michigan at this property. The owners are very helpful and the house was very clean and well-kept. The 60 acres of land was a favorite with the kids. They would look forward to coming "home" and hiking around the property after our busy days of sightseeing. They especially liked the pond with the frogs. The kitchen is well-stocked and the house had everything a family of six could need. Unlike other vacation homes we have rented that had a locked room or closet that was off-limits to renters, this home was completely available to the renters and helped make everything feel more inviting. We went for a run to the lake and back and that was about 3 miles. The view of the lake from the house was very nice. If we ever plan another Michigan vacation we would stay here again!
What a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the beauty of Northern Michigan! The views from the decks are amazing: rolling hills, forest, then Lake Michigan in the distance. Beautiful sunsets right from the cabin, or minutes away on a beautiful beach. The cabin is perfect, all wood inside, windows everywhere, and has everything you need to be comfortable there. This is my idea of heaven!
We stayed for two weeks in August 2012. The Chalet was exactly as described. We found it comfortable, clean, peaceful and with a good view of the lake. The beach at Sturgeon Bay (about a 10 minute drive up the coast) was fabulous for swimming and beach walking. The owners, Margret and Stan, went over everything in the area and what to look for in the lake. The Chalet was very well equipped, nicely landscaped and the perfect place for a relaxing get a way. We had no problem contacting the owners by phone or e-mail. Everything in the Chalet was well maintained, and it was a delight getting to know the owners. Cross Village is a small friendly town between Harbor Springs and Mackinaw on Lake Michigan... very little traffic, quiet star-filled nights and nature at it's best. We referred to it as "Northern Michigan's best kept secret". We highly recommend the Chalet to anyone wanting to get away from some of the stresses of life and anyone who would enjoy the sunsets from the huge deck wrapping halfway around the Chalet. We were able to have breakfast and usually dinner on the deck every day and watched the deer graze in the meadow. There was plenty of wild life to observe besides the deer, such as sand hill cranes and wild turkeys on the 60 acres. We were able to do a couple day trips into Harbor Springs and Mackinaw Island (each about a 20 minute drive). We are already planning a return visit in the near future.
