The beach houses are situated on 2 1/2 acres with over 500' of white sandy beach and a private swimming pool, for the guests of TROPICAL RUNaWAY. The pool is shared between the two houses on the property, but there is great privacy between the houses. The property is ideal for those who wish to relax in a hammock in the shade of a cabana, or those who wish to dive the wall a short distance from shore. Locals claim this is the best beach for shelling, strolling and watching the sunset over Little Cayman. We are the last property on the end of the island. Convenience and tranquility make this truly a destination for the romantic and adventurous. We are equipped for scuba divers, with rinse and drying stations. Our water is town water and perfectly safe for drinking and cooking. The covered porch beckons for a cold beer or a Pina Colada while overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the sunset over Little Cayman. You have no visible neighbours. If you are so inclined you can split a coconut, have a hermit crab race or stroll through our paths carved amongst the Sea Grapes. This peace of heaven is ready to rent. We are close to the major resorts and restaurants if you need a 'neon' fix and far enough away that you can play Castaway. You will enjoy your stay and you will not want to leave.
Our beach is the turtle nesting beach on Cayman Brac. June through November turtles can be observed in the evening scooping out the sand preparing for their egg laying. Check out the tropicalrunaway website to see a photo of a giant green sea turtle on our beach. We also have nesting Loggerhead and Hawksbill sea turtles. Other resident wildlife on the island that are fun to observe are the nesting Brown Boobies on the bluff in March and April and the large Iguanas that live down the road year round.
The bedroom has a pillow top king bed, that can be split into twins. No tossing and turning all night because of a hard lumpy bed. There is a large closet, a generous supply of towels and other linens. The bathroom has an extra large shower. The great room has a well equipped kitchen, a flat screen TV, dining table, and a convertible couch that pulls out to a queen size bed.
The kitchen is well equipped..

The beach house is a shared ownership. Henry and Heather are from Picton, Ontario. Karen and Ray are from North Vancouver, BC. Henry and Ray have been good friends since childhood. We have travelled together extensively, since we all share a love of the water, diving, snorkeling and boating.
Karen Zaremba purchased this bungalow in 2009
Cayman Brac is a unique island. We enjoy the safety, diving and welcoming friendliness of the 'Brackers'.
The secluded location, with no visible neighbours, but the convenience of all the West End has to offer, shopping district, restaurants, banks, dive operations and the lagoon.
This property is wonderful. My husband and I stayed in the Hawksbill House which as other reviews mention, is perfect for two! There are great views whether sitting in the cabana's, or on the porch. Walking the beach can be a bit rocky, so make sure to wear some type of shoe with a sturdy bottom. If you walk into the water, keep an eye out for sea urchins. The sunsets are beautiful, so definitely plan to watch those from anywhere on the property. We left a fire pit on the beach, so collect some wood and make a fire. There is nothing more relaxing then watching a sunset, listening to the waves, and having a fire. There is a chicken coop so you can have fresh eggs everyday if you want! There are also grocery stores that are a short drive from the property. We cooked at home, on the grill, and ate out. It was nice to have those options. Visit the Barracuda for stone cooked pizza paired with a rum punch! The Tipsy Turtle is an outdoor bar which has LARGE portions and American food options. On Wednesday, Friday or Saturday visiting Barry to get his Jerk Chicken or pork is a must. These are all close to the property, but having a rental car would be recommended. We visited the Scuba Shack and Liesel was a wonderful help in getting us to "walk-in" or easy access points for snorkeling. WHICH, I highly recommend if you are not on the island to dive. We saw everything from Manta Rays, to varieties of fish, Barracuda's, Sting Rays, and even a Nurse Shark! We brought our own gear, but I believe rental is available. Take time to explore the island. We visited the Light House, some of the caves, the public beach, the museum, the Heritage, but never did find the parrot sanctuary? The Department of Tourism is right on West End Road near the airport. Traveling the island is easy once you get the hang of driving on the wrong side of the road. (We are from the US and admittedly, my husband did all the driving) Take a half day fishing trip with Jeff if he is available. We caught Black Fin Tuna and they made a great dinner. We were greeted when we got there, and the caretakers stopped in every other day to check on us. There is a beautiful swimming pool which was an appreciated addition to the property. There was no one staying in the Loggerhead House when we visited, so while the company would have been welcome, we had the property to ourselves for a week. I highly recommend this property! We are already talking about returning.
We had a wonderful time at Hawksbill House, which was perfect for a couple looking to get away from it all. The house is very comfortable with all the amenities needed. It sits by the lovely pool (with waterfall!) and has a view down the path to the ocean. There is a cabana on the private beach for watching the waves and the sunset. Our hosts were very helpful and friendly (their stay in the main house happened to overlap with us). They have created a wonderful retreat on this property at the sandy beach end of the island. One warning is that Brac is only for the adventuresome-- some amenities (eg groceries, restaurants) are limited in supply on the island and you need to do a little research to find places to snorkel or birdwatch. But the reward is that there are few other people or tourists around and the ocean life is untouched and spectacular.
My husband and I just had a lovely week in the Tropical Runaway bungalow. It's extremely comfortable and private. The pool is a few steps from the door and the beach is just a few steps further. There is a covered area to relax in the shade and read. We never saw another person on the beach the entire week. The house is very well-equipped. There's a very nice stove with oven, a microwave, dishwasher, side-by-side refrigerator and loads of cooking accoutrements. The bed is very comfortable. We only needed the AC one night as there was a light breeze the entire week. Be sure to bring water shoes to go into the sea as there are quite a number of sea urchins. You won't be disappointed in this property. Oh! Karen is very easy to work with as well.
This was our second visit to Tropical Runaway. Once again we had a fantastic experience both at the accomodation as well as the island. This is a shore diver's dream, many sites with easy access and dive shops that support you diving on your own. The privacy of the property is one of the reasons we return, lots of vegetation and a feeling that you are the only ones around or even close by. We will return once again.
Fun to watch the planes arrive and depart just next to us. This was our second stay at the Beach House and it was just as great as the previous visit. The pool is new since our last visit in 2014 and is really a nice addition. I hate to say too many wonderful things about this place because I don't want it to be booked when we want to go back and we will definitely be back. We actually changed which month we were going so that we could stay here because we loved it so much. The caretakers, the Clarke's, are so nice and helpful if you need anything.
My husband and I stayed at the Hawksbill House and feel we got the best of the best! The house is charming and has everything you could possibly need. We were fortunate enough to have the owners, Karen and Ray, staying in the main house while we were there. They were both so kind and generous. They have hens "The Girl's", that they've raised and we were able to have FRESH eggs every morning!! We learned so much from Ray and Karen about the Island, the beaches, planting trees, etc.. Ray, also, can play a mean game of Corn Hole!! (there was no winning against that man...) It wouldn't have been the same without them there. The houses are situated on the most beautiful spot! The beautiful ocean view, the birds, the pool, the grounds... all of it just breathtaking.. Everything is so well taken care of, it just shows their pride of ownership. The pictures that you see online just don't do this place justice. I would recommend this spot for anyone looking to stay on Cayman Brac. You can snorkel or dive right from your own place! It doesn't get much better than that. The water is spectacular! You have your own cabana to retreat to anytime of the day or night. I can't say enough good things about our stay. This was truly a treat for my husband and I. The only bad part was leaving.... we already want to go back!! We can't wait for our next visit here!
This is a small island with a surprising number of things to do, especially if you enjoy the water. Cayman Brac is an amazing dive destination. There is snorkeling/diving right from the beach, a rinse tank and convenient area to dry your gear, fresh water outdoor showers, flat screen TV, hundreds of movies and TV shows saved on an external hardrive, free wireless internet, Quiet Split AC in every room
