Come stay and enjoy our waterfront, custom-designed, 4-bedroom/3 full bath home on the Northeast river.
Through the front door you enter into the open kitchen and dining area, complete with granite counter tops, stainless appliances, gas range, drop lighting, as well as hardwood and cork flooring. Beyond, you'll find the living room with field-stone fireplace (w/ gas insert), flat-screen TV, BlueRay, surround sound and comfortable seating for relaxing with your favorite friends, movie, book or game and a glass of wine.
Directly adjacent is the first floor bedroom featuring a queen-size bed, ceiling fan, closet and full bathroom with a low-threshold shower.
Heading towards the back yard you pass through the enclosed sunroom, perfect for picturesque sunrise breakfasts or birdwatching. It's also a great place to take a nap on the generous pillowtop futon.
Outside, sit in the shade on the back lawn or on the deck overlooking the water. Or, head down the steps to the water to swim, kayak, fish, or take your boat out. We have 3 moorings you can use and there's a free public boat ramp just 3 doors down and a larger one just 5 mins away.
Back inside, take the spiral staircase up to the second floor. To the right, find the second large bedroom with a double bed concealing a single trundle bed underneath. Note the beautiful arch-window, ceiling fan, skylights, and vaulted ceiling. Next door is the home office/bedroom with separate private entrance via sliding glass door and deck balcony. Also upstairs is the second full bathroom with stall shower and high vaulted ceilings.
Finally, upstairs, you enter the very large master suite complete with king bed, vaulted ceiling, skylights, and what seems like a 'wall of glass' facing the water. Sliders lead you out to a large private deck with a commanding view of the river. To make the master complete there is a large private en-suite that features a double vanity, stained glass, and a two-person, space-age steam bath, tub and shower with many shower heads, blue lighting, and music.
Other amenities include built-in laundry on first floor, dual-zone central heating & A/C (by floor), a computer nook off the Living Room, and WiFi internet.
Also outside, prepare your summer dinners on the stainless gas grill, and enjoy them on the deck with wrought-iron accents hanging over the water complete with dining table and chairs and a Sky Chair hanging from the nearby tree. Then, travel down the steps to the waters' edge. There are 3 miles of water between our place and the other side of the river at this location.
Good restaurants, big, and small, are close by car or boat in Charlestown, Northeast, Port Deposit & HareDeGrace. Take out food is also plentiful. There's even a casino less than 10 miles away.
There are many birds to watch and a bird book usually on the table in the sunporch. Eagles, Egrets, and Heron are common here and many eagles can often be seen in the park next to the Conowingo Dam a few miles away.
So come and relax or get some exercise to build your appetite, or both, at our place we call "Life on the Water". Its our slice of Heaven.
The home is lovely, very tastefully decorated with a welcoming charm. Very well equipped kitchen and bathrooms. The master bedroom and bath are luxurious, spacious, and offer marvelous views of the bay with many sailboats. The enclosed back porch is a lovely bright spot. The grill worked great. Couldn't figure out how to use the TV or access movies, but we didn't bother to call Gayle or Chip about it. Gayle returned communications quickly and was very nice. Though we thoroughly enjoyed the outdoor deck with dining furniture, fire pit and sandy beach, we would have preferred a bit more distance from the neighbors for more peaceful evenings outdoors. All in all, a very nice spot.
Extremely pleased with this property. You will not be disappointed with the amenities or cleanliness. The owners (Gayle & Chip) were very easy to work with throughout the entire process. If their house is available next year we will be back for more fun on the Northeast River and Upper Chesapeake Bay. THANKS!!
We stayed here at Chip and Gayle's paradise for our Niece's wedding in Charlestown. This house is very beautifully decorated a a very comfortable place to stay. Very clean and complete. Would recommend this place very highly to anyone! Thank you Gayle!
Rented Life on the water for a girls weekend away. The home was beautifully decorated, kitchen is fully equipped with most anything you could need & the location was perfect. So nice to wake up & sit by the river to sip your morning coffee. Plenty of sleeping room for the 6 of us. The washer capacity is small & it took a seversl hours to wash & dry the sheets & towels before leaving. Overall, a great house & location!
The photos of the home don't do it justice. This is a very well-kept property in a very peaceful area by the water. The home is very spacious, with many little nooks and crannies for relaxation and privacy. Right by the water, but no noise from boat traffic. Excellent sunroom for reading or napping, and the master bed and bath combination is amazing. Very well kept property and would recommend to anyone.
You will not be disappointed with your stay at Gayle and Chip's beautiful waterfront home. The property is very modern and well maintained with a beautiful deck overlooking the bay. The kitchen had everything you would need and an outdoor grill as well. There was also plenty of bedrooms for those with larger families and three mooring buoys that work great for our 23' boat. Also, the owners could not have been more helpful throughout every step of the process. Great time, will definitely be returning in the future.
