About Zoya

I have had a long career in international development and traveled extensively for business and pleasure. I enjoy staying in beautiful private homes when I travel - prefer the feeling of home to hotels.

This is my home that I rent in my absence, and it is furnished to make to feel like a home, in a very personal way - with vintage furniture and artifacts, rugs and artwork I have collected traveling around the work. Hope you like this style and will enjoy its multicultural feel.

Zoya purchased this house in 2002

Why Zoya chose Baltimore

This is a special home, decorate creatively and with love. Take a look at the photos. It is in a quiet and friendly diverse neighborhood, but close to everything. Plenty of parking, but the bus stop is right next door too. You can walk to Johns Hopkins University Homewood Campus and the JHU shuttle stop. Near Preakness, Union Memorial Hospital's Hand Center, Baltimore City Museum, and other sites.

What makes this house unique

Storage space in the basement. YMCA is right next door - has an Olympic size indoor swimming pool and all full fitness facilities. Community children's playground built and cared for by the neighborhoods. Djembe drums if you like to play. Figs and walnuts for picking in the back yard in season. Friendly neighbors.

I never thought I would ever live in a city until I found my haven in Ednor Gardens. A mix of people: young and older, with ancestors from every part of the globe, make it, block by block, the best place to live in Baltimore.

Notes:
Quiet and friendly neighborhood, walking distance from Johns Hopkins University Homewood campus, Giant supermarket and the YMCA. Bus stop is a few feet away and JHU shuttle stops down the street at JHU Eastern Campus. Two buses go downtown. Ednor Gardens is distinguished by its Tudor, Norman, and, later, Colonial style rowhouses that reflect national changes in residential architectural tastes between the mid 1920s into the late 1930s. For the first time in fifty years, Ednor Gardens-Lakeside and surrounding neighborhoods are sleepy and quiet- no longer echoing with the cheers of sports fans from the now razed Memorial Stadium. Perfect home base for moving our son to college

  • 4 of 5

We needed a home away from home across the country to collect all the items my son needed to move into his dorm room. We also wanted a convenient location to downtown, suburbia, and DC so we could vacation a little, as well as prepare my son for college. Zoya's place had all the comforts of home from which to launch our boy on to the next phase of his life. The only reason I didn't give it five stars was the lack of wifi available during our visit. The caretaker and owner both tried to work with the provider to turn it back on so I think the problem was bigger than them but we were at the very end of our data plan so it was a bit of an incovenience. The home was cozy and the neighborhood was quiet and convenient for all we needed.

Owner's Response: Thank you Karen, glad you enjoyed the house. Regarding the Wifi, we had had repeated problems with Verizon lately, inconveniencing our guests. We finally got fed up and decided to change providers. That also was a process and the proper installation required some pushing and shoving with the new provider's installers. What happened to customer service in this country? In any case, we could provide modest hotspot service during the transition period. Sorry for the inconvenience. Hope you will come stay with us again - now all is in good order and the speed is great.

Pleasant stay. Great home

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed our home away from home. Very comfortable. Beds were comfortable. Great shower! We had everything we needed. Just a note. The listing indicates there is cable and there is not. Lots of antenna tv channels.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your kind words, we are glad you enjoyed your stay. We cannot see where the listing states this about cable - from our end that box is not checked. Sorry if there was a misunderstanding.
