After visiting Greenville, ME for 3 days, I put money down on a home! The North Woods area TRULY embraces the meaning behind Maine's slogan, 'Maine, the way life should be!'. I have enjoyed both the area and the people of this town for 14 years and counting. My kids have gown up vacationing here, and I hope their kids will enjoy it someday as well. Being from Philadelphia, PA this cabin is the PERFECT retreat to get away from it all!
John Lauro purchased this cabin in 2000
This is a comfortable, fully equipped house, secluded, private, and yet 5.5 miles from activities downtown. Relax by a fire outside and enjoy the night air and millions of stars in the sky, or sit comfortably inside by a wood stove fire, play games, watch satellite TV, or just have good conversations with family and friends. Morning coffee on the large front porch on a nice day makes it all worth it!
Once I saw the winter night sky for the first time, I knew I was home! I am not a star gazer, nor versed in astronomy, but the first time I saw the constellation Orion, and could view the ENTIRE archer profile, I knew this place was something special. I will also never forget one morning sitting on the front porch, drinking my coffee, when a bull moose came walking down the driveway, stopped, and stared at me for a good 4-5 minutes. We were just being good neighbors and enjoying the morning sun!
mooses hideaway is the perfect spot to get away from it all in the great north woods. The cabin is just as advertised, it slept the six of us with no problems. it is close to town, but even closer to vast network of trails on the Plum Creek Timberlands. We are already looking forward to next year.
This was the second year in a row that me and my buddies stayed at John's cabin while in hiking in Moosehead. We had a fantastic time, everything was as perfect as before. Greenville was crazy busy for the holiday weekend, so it was really nice to have a quiet place to retreat to just 10 minutes up the lake. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting the area!
A great place for starting a fishing trip because the cabin is mid way between some of the great fishing rivers in Maine. If was to mention the many lakes listed near by there would not be enough room on this page. The cabin is snug-comfy with everything needed to grill that steak or get your coffee and eggs ready. Can't wait to rent again.
We had a wonderful time. Wish we could have stayed longer!! Thanks for being so accommodating when we called at the last minute. The cabin is decorated beautifully and has everything you could need. Enjoyed walking on the trails near cabin. Was nice and quiet but only a few minutes to good restaurants in Greenville. Thanks for letting us use your beautiful cabin. We hope to make it back again sometime.
The cabin is out of town and on a gravel road. We slept with the windows open and did not hear anything except birds singing in the morning and the breeze blowing through the drapes. There is a nice wood stove too. It is very clean. Everything worked, we grilled each night on the deck and listened to loons on the nearby Prong Pond. I would recommend this cabin to anyone who wants to be out of town a bit. We had a great time. There are mountains to climb and Moosehead Lake is pristine with mountains surrounding it. It's not too far from Baxter too.
Loved all the room. Very comfy living room. Large dining. We hiked alot. Great trails...Little Spencer is amazing. Gulf Hagas is good. We hikedBig Moose too. Greenville is cute town. Appreciate the washer and dryer. Thanks John.
Greenville has access to the ITS for snowmobiling and ATV activities. Hundreds of miles of trails provides hours/days of adventurous fun in both cold and warmer weather.
