exceeded our expectations

  • 5 of 5

We loved this cabin. Felt more like home than a rental. The fireplace was perfect for cold winter nights. There is plenty of open common area to enjoy family time. The snow boarding at Sugar mountain was great and close enough for a few day trips. Home was very well maintained and comfortably decorated. Close enough to everything to not feel isolated with plenty of privacy. Very close to the lake with lots of hiking trails. Would reccomend

Awesome Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We were the guests of of our brother in law. He booked through Homeaway . We were extremely impressed with the home. Very comfortable, clean and well kept . Upstairs had a big bedroom that was perfect for us The king bed was made up with great linens and 4 big fluffy king pillows. The loft outside bedroom was great for our two kids with a bathroom. The bottom floor had bunk bed room with a game room that was great for my nephews and another master room for my brother in law. Main floor had bedroom another bedroom and bath for my in laws. Wll highly recommend.

A BIg cabin in the woods

  • 4 of 5

The property is settled into the mountains surrounded by woods with walks down the steep steps to either the beach or the swimming hole. You do not see water from the cabin. All of us would like to have a handrail down the steps...well, except the boys who bounded down, of course! There were a couple of issues when we arrived with the internet and upstairs getting cool even though we turned on the unit as soon as we arrived since it was sweltering upstairs! True, we were there for a very hot week and the upstairs was difficult to keep cool and a box fan would have been lovely! The walk to the swimming hole provided tons of fun for everyone with rides down the stream. To the right was the walk to the lake...not actually Lake Lure but another...with a small beach and type of dock that the boys could jump from. Loved that one too! The ride to Lake Lure and the big beach was about 15-20 minutes and we did go there one day where paddle boards and kayaks could be rented. We were there over the 4th so treated to a fireworks show also....very nice. This was our first trip to this area so everything was a surprise and an adventure. We had a great time since we did bring life jackets that worked for floating down stream and beach chairs to relax while kids swam and had jumping contests into water.

The upstairs bathtub (there is no shower upstairs) leaked through the kitchen light fixture when tub was drained. Liz didn't seem concerned so we continued to use the tub for boys bath. We were told that happens when water was on the wood floor. However the floor was tiled. I'm sure it is connected to draining the tub. we definitely will go back to the area again perhaps staying closer to the water next time.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review! Very much appreciated. The wifi box will not work if the box is unplugged and the battery dies. Once charged it works well. We are not on the lake/river/ beach. We are a few minute walk to all. The stairs in the back yard dont have handrails. We have had them for years and never had anyone complain. I have never thought about hand rails but that might be a good idea! The house has 2 air conditioners. One for upstairs and one for downstairs. The week after you left another guest called about upstairs and we had the AC company come out that afternoon and there was a part that had to be replaced ( capacitator)and it is back to normal. That was probably the same issue you had. I wish you had let me know. Could have been fixed during your stay. Ufortunately we dont have anyone to brings fans for the rooms. If I had known the air conditioner wasnt working I could have had it fixed the same day. As I explained, the upstairs bathroom has a hand made tile on the floor, while beautiful, it is very porous. If kids are playing around in the big tub and get a lot of water on floor it will seep through to the wood ceiling below. We are 4 miles from Chimney Rock and Lake Lure Beach. Sorry it took you so long to get there. I am not sure how it did and there isnt another road to take. Glad you all had fun! Thanks again.

Beautiful and great location

  • 5 of 5

One of the most beautiful cabins we have stayed in. We loved the huge living room and kitchen/dining area. It's perfect for a big group or family to all get together. There was definitely enough beds for all 10 of us to sleep comfortably. The finished basement is perfect for the kids/young adults. We also loved the location. It was only ten minutes from a large grocery store and gas station, which makes a big difference when you're cooking every night in the cabin. Also, the road to the cabin was very well maintained and it was easy to get to, not like some we have stayed in where you really needed a four-wheel drive to access. The only thing we would change would be the upstairs bathroom. It's very beautiful but It has a tub and no shower. With 10 of us staying here it would have been nice to have another shower. Overall we loved it and definitely would stay here again.
