Great Location, wish we could have stayed longer

  • 4 of 5

This was my first visit to Seabrook Island and unfortunately I was only able to stay 1 night. It is beautiful and seems like there is lots to do especially in the warmer months. The Condo was great and fit our needs perfectly. We were there to run the Kiawah Marathon so location was key for us. The view from the back deck is amazing, and could have spent hours out there, perfect for sunset pictures. Easy walk to the water. The owner was great to work with and very responsive to inquiries.

Ready to go back and explore some more!

  • 5 of 5

Mr. Blankenship, just want to tell you thank you for letting us stay at Pelican Watch, the view from our

balcony was a real treat. We enjoyed seeing all the different boats going in and out of the north Edisto river. I purchased a digital camera right before our trip so we had a blast videoing and taking lots of pictures of sunsets and sunrises and lots of action. The dolphins really put on a good show as I took my morning walk. I met a really nice lady on the beach and talked with her for a while she had a condo across the street. I didn't get a chance to ride the horses due to the pastures were being used to store storm clean up from all the down trees. I love Live Oaks and we did go by Angel Oak, how awesome! for those that have never seen it, pictures don't do it justice, it's a must see. Really enjoyed seeing all the deer come out at dusk and didn't seem bothered by people. I was really impressed by all the homes and how nice everyone kept there places. I'm looking forward to going again and exploring more shops and restaurants and branching out a little more, before we know it our trip was over. We plan to do more next time.

Thanks again for such a lovely vacation. Sincerely Mrs. Rhoden

Much needed get away

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful view, wonderful beach to sit on & relax or just stroll, great amenities on the island, home may need some TLC, but was clean with a new couch & patio door. I had a question for Malcom & he answered me promptly. Malcolm was very accommodating letting me check in early & offered to let me rent longer, but I needed to return home. I will return on my next trip to Seabrook. My thoughts & prayers for the family during Huricane Matthew, that they have little damage.

Poorly managed

  • 1 of 5

We drove down from the upstate for what we hoped would be a relaxing weekend at Seabrook. Me and my 2 guests were very excited. We waited around the area patiently for our 4pm check in. Upon arrival at the gate we found that there were no passes for us prepared as were promised. In Fact, the gate had no knowledge of us coming at all and made us get out of our car line to call the owner to resolve it. Keep in mind that my full payment for our stay had been made to the owner and long time had cleared my account. I finally got the owner on the phone and when I did he said there was a mix up at the guard house and basically it was their fault and not his and somebody other than him must have screwed up. We were eventually allowed into Seabrook and arrived at the pelican watch condo. As soon as we walked in we were shocked to find that our next hurdle was that the place had not been cleaned after the prior guest left. The kitchen, refrigerator, dishwasher loaded ,floors, bedrooms and bathrooms were filthy . The towels were piled up in the shower and the garbage cans were filled with things that women use and need. We called the owner immediately and he of course blamed it on the cleaning service . He said he would get back to me in 30 minutes with a solution. an hour went by and he finally called and said the cleaning people screwed up but they will be there soon. he then accused me of arriving early and I told him to check his watch and time zone he lived in. The poor cleaning lady finally came and she spent an hour cleaning the place. She said she had no idea that our condo need to be cleaned that night.

The owner of the condo took no responsibility for the guard house fiasco or the condo not being cleaned. He did offer me to stay for the next week subject to any rental that might come along. I guess he was going to ask me to leave if he could rent it. It was a gesture he knew I couldn't accept. I needed to be back at work Monday and so did my guests. In the end I asked the owner for a refund for my weekend minus the cleaning fee which I thought was completely fair. he ruined the beginning of our trip and caused the cancellation of our dinner plans as we had to wait for unit to be cleaned. To date he has yet to apologize and certainly hasn't sent me a refund. His unit has a desirable location but is very dated and needs some TLC. All he really needed to do was say he screwed up but he didn't. Renter beware. owner is lax.

Owner's Response: The gatehouse has issues all the time concerning passes. All it took was phone call and was resolved in less than 5 min. The cleaning service was 1 he late due to high volume that day but was completed in a timely manner. I offered to let him extend for as many days as he wanted but in the end it he was just using the minor inconvenience to get a free stay and threatened to a bad review and to discredit me on social media.
