Perfect place to stay while visiting Acadia &Bar Harbor!

  • 5 of 5

What a lovely place. Just a few miles away from Acadia and Bar Harbor. Secluded. Star filled nights. A waterfront view. The cottage has skylights in EVERY room. Huge picture windows in the living room area so you always feel outdoors even when inside. A fabulous deck to relax on as well as a roomy screened in porch. Just perfect. Didn't want to leave. Next year we will be back for 2 weeks instead of one.

Lovely Bayview Cottage Exceeded expectations

  • 5 of 5

This review is long overdue as we stayed at Bayview in June 2014. My husband and I have been coming to Acadia for over 30 years and this is the first time we rented. We wanted someplace on the water, quiet and wooded but convenient to the park and Bar Harbor. Bayview filled all those desires and more! It's lovely and charming, more than clean, as its decorated so tastefully. The setting and small touches make it so warm and homey. We were so comfortable there and didn't want to leave. We'd come back from a day of walking and exploring and have wine and cheese and watch the sunset from the cozy screened porch. Our dog loved it too! Thank you to the owners for creating a warm and welcoming cottage!

Bayview Cottage is our favorite place! Our family of four has been visiting Bar Harbor and Acadia for over 10 years, and we love Bayview so much that we are afraid to try another rental. We truly consider it to be our home away from home, if for only one week each summer.

The cottage itself is bright and cheerful, tastefully decorated with comfortable beds/furniture. The kitchen is modern and well stocked. It's such an adorable classic cottage with the bonus of a good-sized screened porch. So many bonuses…colorful sunsets, curious seals, kayaking and exploring around theTwinnies, owls, eagles. All this, and just outside Acadia National Park! We love to hike and kayak, but find that we look forward to a rainy day, so that we can just stay and hang out in the cottage.

The location works well for us. For shopping and dining, we just head down to Bar Harbor. When we want to feel like locals, it's a quick ride to the Southwest side of the island. We are still amazed by the quiet, private setting that Bayview affords us. So peaceful and relaxing, just like Maine should be.

Love this place!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I have stayed at this charming waterfront cottage on three separate vacations. The place is clean and sweet.

The sunset view from the large deck is breathtaking and so much privacy! The location is great.. the park is about a 5 minute drive and Bar Harbor around 10. My young adult children love it. We so enjoy sitting on the deck, looking out at the water, taking a dip and taking in the amazing sunsets. When we are not hiking or enjoying the town we have a beautiful spot to come back to. Love not having TV to distract from the quiet!!

We look forward to returning!

Cute cottage: a perfect spot for exploring Acadia

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I just spent two relaxing weeks at Bayview Cottage, enjoying all that MDI and Acadia National Park has to offer. Both our sons and their girlfriends also took turns visiting us during the week and the cottage easily accommodated four adults, plus our cocker spaniel. The cottage is well-equipped with plenty of linens and kitchen equipment, has comfortable beds, great closets (no tripping over suitcases) and Wi-Fi. There's no TV, but we didn't miss it; we were too busy enjoying the view of the bay, the lobster boats and the changing tides. The living/dining room windows face the water as does the large deck and the screen porch, a great place in rain or shine. The location in Salisbury Cove makes travel to and from the park, Bar Harbor, and Ellsworth very easy. In past years, we've stayed in other waterfront locations off island, but the trip back and forth to Acadia gets tiresome. At Bayview, you're less than five minutes from the Visitor's Center. As kayakers we appreciated being able to launch from the shorefront at Bayview and enjoyed the beautiful scenery up and down the coast, spotting the interesting rock formation featured on the cover of Downeast this summer. Hadley Point beach is just a short walk along Bayview Drive and is a great place to beachcomb or set up a beach chair. Over the years, we've rented at more than a dozen locations in the Acadia area and each of those rentals had good features, but Bayview Cottage has all the things we look for in a summer rental: proximity to the park and Bar Harbor, waterview and shorefront access, a screen porch, dog friendly, clean, well-maintained, an equipped kitchen and a reasonable rental fee. Also, Lynn at Knowles Realty was extremely helpful in answering questions about the property.

very peaceful and private, relaxation plus!!

  • 5 of 5

This cottage is so tranquil that you won't want to leave! It is cozy, clean and very, very peaceful. Great place for kayaking, sitting on the deck or porch at night and just plain relaxing. We love that there is only one other cottage nearby and NOT on top of us at all. In fact, the family staying in the other cottage had wanted to rent ours as they have been there many times but we got to it first! We were very comfortable on warm nights with the fan in the bedroom and it had everything we needed in the kitchen! This was our second trip to Bayview Cottage and it will not be our last. The fact that there is no tv is a plus as we are on vacation and there are sooo many things to see and do close by (Acadia National Park is the most gorgeous place on earth to us).

I really don't know what Judith R. is talking about regarding Bayview cottage but it is NOTHING at all like her review! Even our dog Annie would write a good review if she could. We will be back next year!
