Adorable, nostalgic High Dune is a 4 bedroom / 2 bath home located on the second tier gulf front in Dune Allen Beach. Close to Destin, yet away from the crowds, this home offers an affordable alternative for your family or for two families to share. Well maintained and just lovingly renovated, High Dune has the authentic rustic cedar exterior, yet a completely updated interior. The latest round of updates replaced all the kitchen cabinets, countertops, new washer and dryer, new microwave vent hood, dishwasher and all the tile floors. The bedrooms have hardwood floors and both bathrooms have been completely renovated with new tile and solid surface vanity sinks.
The living room / kitchen / dining area is in the center of the home with two bedrooms on each side for privacy. Kitchen has cabinets, a large granite island with 4 barstools, fridge with icemaker, dishwasher, glass top range and microwave. Kitchen overlooks living and dining area for a together family feel. Dining table seats 6. Living room has a queen sleeper sofa, love seat, leather side chair and 2 side tables with lamps. For entertainment purposes, there is a LCD TV, HD Cable, Blu-ray, Bose Wave Stereo and several DVD movies for your viewing pleasure.
Sliding glass doors in the living room offer views of the brilliant Gulf of Mexico. Your gulf front deck is outfitted with various furniture for relaxing and listening to the gulf. Because the home is second tier gulf front, portions of the gulf view are blocked by another home. An outdoor shower in a privacy stall allows clean up before entering the house. Private boardwalk to the beach means you have direct access to the white sand beaches.
On the east side of the house, you will find a queen bedroom with Gulf views, 2 bedside tables, 2 lamps, chest of drawers, closet and LCD TV with HD Cable. The other bedroom on this side has views of Oyster Lake, a double bed and a twin bed, chest of drawers, bedside table, lamp and LCD TV with HD Cable as well as a DVD / VCR. Between these two bedrooms, there is a hall bath with tub / shower and a Corian sink.

The view is great. The sand is white and the sky is clear. What else could we ask for? Thank you for some great relaxation.
Great central location for shopping and restaurants with bike trail right out the front door. Best feature is direct access to the beach. Outfitted with everything one needs in the kitchen. Plenty of room for our four couple party. Mattresses need replacing and the ocean side porch is not usable as it's in the sun all day. A roof covering 1/2 of the porch would be a great enhancement to a great place. Overall we loved the place and will be back.
We just spent a week at this location and thoroughly enjoyed it. We had 8 adults and two children and had plenty of room. Easy access to the BEST BEACH I have ever experienced. The sand was white and soft, and the water was clear and deep blue. The beach was not super crowded. We were there the week of the 4th of July and had no problem setting up 4 pop-up canopies at 10am.
The washer/dryer are not full size. Tip: manually run the washer spin cycle a second time, or the towels will never get dry.
Sliding glass doors on the beach side of the house should probably be replaced. Old, heavy, and difficult to slide. Bring WD40, which helped.
AC worked great.
Kitchen was well stocked with every utensil/pot you could ever need.
Lots of bath towels.
Easy access to both the GREAT beach and the main road.
Tom Thumb within walking distance for ice & beer.
House was clean, well maintained, and had a good layout.
Beds were very comfortable.
Management company did a great job of communicating pertinent information.
I would definitely stay there again and recommend it to friends. It is a really great house for the price.
(Here is a tip: Getting to this beach from I-10 on a Saturday afternoon was an absolute NIGHTMARE. There are only two roads: 331 & 293, both are two lane. 331 is under construction and 293 has a toll. We were stuck on 331 for more than two hours and other family members said 293 was even worse because of the back up at the toll booth. Plan your travel accordingly. Next time, I am going to MAKE SURE I am on Hwy 98 before NOON. Even though check in is not until 4pm, we will go to a movie, go shopping, hit the go cart track, go to the public beach...anything to kill time rather than sit in traffic for hours and hours!)
The overall living area was nicely remodeled however the bathrooms could use an upgrade. The water pressure in the showers (outdoor shower included) is next to nothing and is difficult to wash the ocean away after a long day on the beach. The place was overall clean although a pest spray could be useful as we did find one large roach which was easily squished and cleaned up once we caught him. Our cell phone service was very spotty inside the house, but that was mentioned in the info we received, just be warned text messages came through hours late if they came through at all. Overall it was just the house we were looking for and couldn't have asked for better than just a few steps down to the clean white beach and beautiful clear blue ocean. The larger house in between us and the beach wasn't an issue at all as we still got a great view and privacy. The beds were comfortable and extra pillows in the closet a plus with tv's in all bedrooms. Was also great to have a washer and dryer in the house for those humid days when your bathing suit just won't dry on its own! I would stay here again if I come back to Dune Allen beach.
This is a perfect place for the price. Had a great time.
The best part of the house is the location! The beach really is just a few steps away from the house. And the area is beautiful!
The house is in desperate need of renovation. The kitchen looks like its about to fall apart. The cabinets smell musty and they were not clean inside, crumbs. The bar stools are too high for the the counter top bar area.
The floors are uneven and we found some extra "visitors" ( water bugs or roaches!) in the twin bedroom.
The bedding needs updating, had lots of bleach stains and was very unattractive because of it.
On the positive side there were enough towels to go around for everyone. The washer and dryer in the kitchen were also great. Not so great was that the washer was too big for the space under the cabinet and so it was a "catch all" for the crumbs during food preparation.
With this house I feel that the price tag was not justified, it was a let down for our family.
