30 minutes northeast of Santa Fe, 45 minutes southeast of Taos, and 30 minutes east of Los Alamos is the village of Cundiyo, a small farm and ranch community with a very tranquil appeal. If you’re looking for an intimate retreat with little to no distractions except the beautiful scenery and the company of your travel companion, this is the place for you!
This charming studio unlike any other vacation home as far as its design and amenities – It’s truly a work of art! Here you’ll find imported Indian sandstone countertops, custom handmade Spanish pueblo doors, Taos-style furniture, hand-peeled vigas, a traditional wood-burning fireplace, and more. You’ll find this house very “green” – The thick walls, brick floors, and even the south-facing windows that capture an appropriate amount of sunlight help keep the unit at a comfortable temperature year-round, plus much of the home was constructed with recycled materials. Cook delicious, southwestern-inspired meals in the full gourmet kitchen, equipped with top-rated appliances, and then head out to the private outdoor hot tub overlooking the mountains and listen to the sounds of the coyotes in the background. The views are absolutely amazing and inspirational!
If you’ve never been to this area before, the first thing you will notice is the absence of noise, light and air pollution. Get ready for some crystal-clear views of the starry skies! There’s also an abundance of activity for every interest – Head over to the nearby Pecos Wilderness for hiking and other outdoor activities, or to Santa Cruz Lake for outstanding trout fishing. Ski areas such as Sipapu, Santa Fe, Angel Fire, Pajarito, and Taos are all within an hour and a half, and Pojoaque and Nambe pueblos are just 10 minutes away. You can also enjoy casinos, bars, dance clubs, and all that Santa Fe and Taos have to offer knowing that you get to retire to your own sanctuary at the end of the day. Come inspire your artistic mind or simply relax and enjoy the sunshine!

Bird and RC are such lovely people and generous hosts. The house is more than we ever dreamt, hand-built, beautiful and with so many amenities. The peace and quiet of the area, the starry nights and the exquisite surroundings make this a must-stay for anyone visiting Northern New Mexico. We will be back in the Spring, to celebrate our anniversary. SO perfect, thank you!!
This trip was planned to be a restful retreat for my husband and I. The Tire House was more than we could have imagined. It was beautifully designed and so comfortable! There was so much thought put into what this house provided, and we wanted for nothing. We can't wait to return and enjoy the beauty of the area.
Not enough stars to give it justice! All of the amenities of a five star hotel and then some. Reaffirms one's faith in humankind and the psychological healing powers of nature's beauty. This place is cathartic. The Hosts are absolutely wonderful and have paid attention to the minutest details to make the Tire House Studio a place that is unlike anything else. Jack Rabbits, hummingbirds, fresh laid eggs from the chicken coop, hot tub under the stars...did I mention hot tub under the stars?
My fiancé and I decided to take a week hiatus near Santa Fe during our trip across country. This place could not have been more perfect. It was quiet and secluded yet close to everything we wanted to visit while we were there. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to stay in the area.
When I booked this place I could tell it had charm. But since all I could see were a few pictures, I was still concerned that the place may not be as good as I was imagining. Boy was I ever wrong. Tire House Studio blew us away. It was absolutely gorgeous. The views from the back patio were breathtaking. The owners have gone to great lengths to make sure they have provided everything. It almost was like a game trying to think of something they didn't provide. The hospitality was outstanding down to the homemade cookies and freshly laid eggs. There aren't enough stars to give this place nor enough words to describe how much we enjoyed it.
