Relaxing Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I was a bit apprehensive when planning our trip to Michigan with three teens (17 y.o. twins and 15 y.o.) but decided to trust my many friends who had visited and assured me it was a good choice. Our week in Holland was definitely a departure from our usual vacations, but we all were very happy with it. We visited Lake Michigan for sunset nearly every night (storms interfered a couple of times.) We particularly enjoyed Tunnel Park, and my husband got many beautiful photos of the sunset. The kids enjoyed swimming, frisbee, volleyball and football in the sand. At the house, we all enjoyed the hammock, making Smores at the fire pit, and relaxing on the deck. Our dog loved the fenced in back yard. Location is great for day trips-ours included cherry picking near Grand Rapids, and Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon. Locally, we visited Bam!, the bowl mill and the Windmill. We also spent a fun afternoon at Paint a Pot. We enjoyed Big E's Bar and Grill, Crust 54 and the candy at Kilwin's downtown, as well as the ice cream at Captain Sundae's. It was a bit too cold for more lake sports, would have liked to try SUPs and the kayak, and too windy for fishing...maybe next time!

Good location and value for a group

  • 5 of 5

My family of 9 adults and 1 child stayed at HHBH early Aug. 2016. The location was good for all lake activity-close to the state park for lots of beach time and we were near the marina where we docked our sail boat. Neighborhood was quiet and well kept.

Things we really liked: Great location, great common space. It was nice to have 3 bathrooms, hammock, fire pit and grill. The house was very clean and linens (and towels!!) were provided. Owners kept us up to date on current events in Holland which was great. Lots of parking in the driveway was great for our large group and garage access was a bonus!

Couple of things to consider: The kitchen was well stoked with plates, cups, bowls, and cutlery but lacking a bit in pots/pans and baking pans. The sofa bed seemed to be broken so we had to use an air mattress we brought instead. The internet was a bit unreliable (we were mostly on vacation but occasionally someone had to check in with work and the internet box needed a reboot). Bunk beds were like dorm room style futon bed but we slept well enough.

Overall we had a lovely stay in Holland !

Great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

Property was as described and the owner was there to greet us and show us around. Kept in touch with us with text reminders about goings on around town which was very much appreciated. Very easy to contact should we have had any problems (which we did not). Property was clean and beds / pillows were comfortable. Excellent location. We'd stay here again!

Harbor House Stay

  • 4 of 5

We had an excellent time. Location is great and a quiet street. Close to Lake Mac and Holland State Park and beach. It would be nice if there were two showers, but otherwise the accommodations were more than adequate. Loved the back yard, deck, hammock and firepit. Would highly recommend it. The owner was very helpful and sent texts to update of activities in the area. Thanks for your hospitality.

Good Deal for Families, close to beaches and park

  • 5 of 5

HHBH was home base for our week in the Holland area. I chose it because it offered a reasonable price close to Holland State Park. Pluses of the location:

• Short drive or brief bike ride to Ottawa Beach or Lake Macatawa access,

• Pleasant walk to the state park’s 168th St. access road, with a variety of trails to hike to and from Mount Pisgah,

• Ice cream at the Ottawa Beach General Store!

Things I really liked about HHBH:

• Clean, air-conditioned, and with room for our six adults,

• Nice backyard, fenced with fire pit,

• Close to action at the beaches and park, but quiet location just off major traffic artery.

• 2-person kayak available, short drive to Macatawa access;

• small dog allowed for a fee, and there is a pet gate to keep it on lower level;

• wi-fi, and a very nice television on that lower level.

We had a pleasant stay. Thank you, Holland Harbor Beach House!

Great location for beach lovers!

  • 4 of 5

Owner is very helpful and kind.

Location was great for going to Holland State Park and Tunnel Park. We chose to drive.

Drive 5-10 minutes to Captain Sundae, DeBoars restaurant, grocery store and downtown Holland.

Neighborhood is quiet and relaxing. Loved the hammock.

The living room, dining room, kitchen and deck were great living spaces.
