Perfect location!

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the location between the parks.

Used the excellent deck for gathering and meal time.

We were concerned about the broken storm door in the front, especially because of grandchildren coming and going.

Had use of only 2 adult bikes, third was in disrepair.

Owner was helpful with texts about ongoing activities and 4 free passes for Dutch Village, which was a hit with all.

Too small for 10 people

  • 2 of 5

My family of 7 adults and 3 children were far too cramped in this home. The bedrooms were very small and stuffed with beds to sleep 3 or 4. Don't plan on any natural light in the bedrooms as none of the paper blinds worked well at all. The sofa bed was broken and we were thankful we had brought an air mattress. Only one shower does not work well for a house advertised to be for this many people. We didn't find the home particularly clean either and the appliances are in poor working order. On a positive note, we enjoyed the back yard and the bicycles we were able to use. We have stayed at several vacation rental homes in this area in the past and know what to expect. This home did not meet our expectations for the amount of money we paid. I feel with the amount of rental income for a season this house must bring in, the quality of the home should be higher. We did have a good week due to the fact the weather was perfect and we were together.

Owner's Response: Managers Response: We are sorry to hear your stay fell short of expectations, and we apologize for any miscommunication regarding the available amenities. The rooms in this property are all standard size. We do apologize that the sofa bed was tough to set up, it can get caught as you take the bed out but once its out the bed works great. This listing has never advertised more than 1 shower as an available amenity, but I appreciate that you were disappointed nonetheless. We take feedback from our guests very seriously and assure you that the necessary adjustments will be made to ensure future guests have the best possible experience in this vacation home. Best, The Evolve Team

Relaxing Family Getaway

  • 5 of 5

I was a bit apprehensive when planning our trip to Michigan with three teens (17 y.o. twins and 15 y.o.) but decided to trust my many friends who had visited and assured me it was a good choice. Our week in Holland was definitely a departure from our usual vacations, but we all were very happy with it. We visited Lake Michigan for sunset nearly every night (storms interfered a couple of times.) We particularly enjoyed Tunnel Park, and my husband got many beautiful photos of the sunset. The kids enjoyed swimming, frisbee, volleyball and football in the sand. At the house, we all enjoyed the hammock, making Smores at the fire pit, and relaxing on the deck. Our dog loved the fenced in back yard. Location is great for day trips-ours included cherry picking near Grand Rapids, and Michigan's Adventure in Muskegon. Locally, we visited Bam!, the bowl mill and the Windmill. We also spent a fun afternoon at Paint a Pot. We enjoyed Big E's Bar and Grill, Crust 54 and the candy at Kilwin's downtown, as well as the ice cream at Captain Sundae's. It was a bit too cold for more lake sports, would have liked to try SUPs and the kayak, and too windy for fishing...maybe next time!

Good location and value for a group

  • 5 of 5

My family of 9 adults and 1 child stayed at HHBH early Aug. 2016. The location was good for all lake activity-close to the state park for lots of beach time and we were near the marina where we docked our sail boat. Neighborhood was quiet and well kept.

Things we really liked: Great location, great common space. It was nice to have 3 bathrooms, hammock, fire pit and grill. The house was very clean and linens (and towels!!) were provided. Owners kept us up to date on current events in Holland which was great. Lots of parking in the driveway was great for our large group and garage access was a bonus!

Couple of things to consider: The kitchen was well stoked with plates, cups, bowls, and cutlery but lacking a bit in pots/pans and baking pans. The sofa bed seemed to be broken so we had to use an air mattress we brought instead. The internet was a bit unreliable (we were mostly on vacation but occasionally someone had to check in with work and the internet box needed a reboot). Bunk beds were like dorm room style futon bed but we slept well enough.

Overall we had a lovely stay in Holland !

Great place to stay!

  • 4 of 5

Property was as described and the owner was there to greet us and show us around. Kept in touch with us with text reminders about goings on around town which was very much appreciated. Very easy to contact should we have had any problems (which we did not). Property was clean and beds / pillows were comfortable. Excellent location. We'd stay here again!
