Owner / Property Manager purchased this cabin in 1965
This cabin is super cozy. Everything you could ask for in a ski cabin. There were just four of us but could have fit twice that easily. Loft area for the kids is great.
This is our second time that we have stayed here. We love it here!! The downstairs beds are very comfortable. My son loved the upstairs loft. The kitchen is well stocked and the dining room table is a wonderful size. It was very nice to be able to bring our dog too. We loved the wrap around porch. It was absolutely beautiful with all of the snow surrounding the cabin. It is also very close to Calaveras Big Trees and the adorable town of Murphys. We will definitely stay here again!!
We stayed for three days and it was cozy and size was perfect and we loved they accept dogs and it was a plus, the location is a plus we would go back for sure during summer to enjoy it more, the only thing is that they need to improve their cleaning a bit housekeeping should be more detail specially inside the showers and restrooms and dusting and the dish washer needs to be fixed the door seems like it's about to come off when you open it. But besides it's a nice cabin and really likes it. Also the owner was nice called and made sure we got everything we needed and made him self available by cellphone if we needed anything and good thing there's a house phone since there's no cellphone but luckily there's wifi.
The location was good. Though it was less than some the kitchen and bathrooms really were outdated and worn looking. The beds were good downstairs which I was grateful for. The entire place had labels of the do's and don'ts I felt like i was in kindergarten.
We came to the cabin on very warm days (i.e. High 80's). There is no a/c, which was not stated, nor did I think about needing one during our stay. But, the cabin is a heat trap and registered 91 degrees in the afternoon. This is even with us keeping all windows wide open and fans on all night and shutting the windows in the morning to keep as much cool air in. It was just plain uncomfortable, to say the least. We were out all day and by 3-4, was tired after our outing w/ kids. The comforters were also extremely thick and not appropriate for the summer weather. Other than that, it was comfortable but definitely not for summer stay.
We were two couples, a toddler and an 8 year-old and the cabin was a good size for us. If we had any more people, it would have felt a little small. The location is great - we went to Alpine Lake and Big Trees and we were close to both. It is so beautiful there! The kitchen is well-stocked and the table was a good size for our group. The upstairs shower was unusable, but I told the owner after we left, and he said he would look into it. The other issue was small: we were excited to use the deck for outdoor games, but it was pretty messy and covered in pine needles. We just had to do some sweeping to make it usable. This was a sweet, cozy cabin and we really enjoyed our stay! In addition, the owner made himself available if anything came up, which we appreciated. All in all, a very positive experience!
