|Minimum Stay||4 - 7 nights|
The homes are situated on 2 1/2 acres with over 500' of white sandy beach and sheltered, private, in ground, swimming pool, shared between the two houses. There is a four bedroom house and a one bedroom house. There is nice privacy between the two houses. The property is ideal for those who wish to relax in a hammock in the shade of a cabana, or those who wish to dive the wall a short distance from shore. Locals claim this is the best beach for shelling, strolling and watching the sunset over Little Cayman. We are the last property on the end of the island. Convenience and tranquility make this truly a destination for the romantic and adventurous. We are equipped for scuba divers, with rinse and drying stations. Our water is town water and perfectly safe for drinking and cooking. A 50' x10' covered porch beckons for a cold beer or a Pina Colada while overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the sunset over Little Cayman. If you are so inclined you can split a coconut, have a hermit crab race or stroll through our paths carved among the Sea Grapes. This peace of heaven is ready for rent. We are close to the major resorts and restaurants if you need a 'neon' fix and far enough away that you can play Castaway. Bring your ipod as we can doc your favourite reggae tunes. Hands up, baby hands up......You will enjoy your stay and you will not want to leave.
Our beach is the turtle nesting beach on Cayman Brac. June through November turtles can be observed in the evening scooping out the sand preparing for their egg laying. Check out the tropicalrunaway website to see a photo of a giant green sea turtle on our beach. We also have nesting Loggerhead and Hawksbill sea turtles. Other resident wildlife on the island that are fun to observe are the nesting Brown Boobies on the bluff in March and April and the large Iguanas that live down the road year round.
The master bedroom has an extremely comfortable king bed and a single bed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. The other upstairs bedroom has an extremely comfortable queen bed and a single bed/daybed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. Comfortable beds are a top priority for us. The two bedrooms downstairs share a bathroom. One has a queen bed, same outstanding quality and the other a queen that is slightly firmer for those that prefer that type of bed. No tossing and turning all night because of a hard or lumpy bed! The house is ideal for 3 couples to share, or 3 couples with young children. It also suits 2 couples with 2 to 4 older children (the kids can share the lower level bedrooms and bathroom). I recommend larger groups consider reserving the entire property for their group. Groups of 8 adults will really enjoy being able to spread out between the 2 houses and having access to 2 kitchens/fridges.
The kitchen is well equipped.

We enjoy the safety, friendliness and diving on the best diving destination in the Caribbean
We are so close to amenities and still very private.
Wonderful private property on a small, quiet island. Secluded sandy beachfront. Good amenities including kayaks, snorkeling gear, extra towels, furniture on all decks and beach front with 2 cabanas. Near beach dive sites, dive shop and grocery store. Owners very helpful in arranging trip and facilitating vacation rental. Well stocked kitchen. Entire house, indoors, out and beachfront was made to allow easy family/friends interactions, yet afforded privacy if desired. Main house and smaller 1 BR home on property.
Two couples had a wonderful holiday March 4 - 11 at Ray and Karen Zaremba's Tropical Runaway on Cayman Brac. We rented a car with B and S and toured the island; stopping to explore caves, hike, visit the museum, snorkel and try various restaurants. Due to some injuries incurred before our trip, we snorkeled instead of diving and saw a wonderful array of vibrant fish at Scott's Pier. The house has incredible landscaping and we spent every afternoon lounging by the new pool. There was so much room to prepare meals in the renovated, large kitchen and then we ate outside relaxing on the beautiful covered porch. Mornings were spent walking on the beach collecting shells and getting fresh eggs from the friendly chickens in the chicken coop to prepare for breakfast. There are a number of large bedrooms - ours had a comfy king bed and each bedroom came with its own ensuite. We met wonderful neighbours and ate many meals at Star Island and Tipsy Turtle. We would recommend shopping at Kirkconnels. Altogether a great, relaxing week in a fabulous guest home with incredible views!!
Everything was perfect at TROPICALRUNaWAY - The beautiful grounds reflected the loving care which maintained them. The kitchen had everything we needed, the beds were comfortable and there was always a place with a breeze on the large open porch where we could sit together and talk. Our favorite spot was "the Playground" which was a shelter with hammocks and benches near the water which was protected from the wind but gave the impression of being almost in the ocean. The kayaks and snorkeling equipment were easy to use and the swimming pool provided a welcome relief from the heat on hot days. We highly recommend this quiet secluded place.

Our family group of 8 spent a wonderful week at Tropical Runaway in late February 2017. The views are great & sunsets spectacular! Both houses are well equipped, well thought out and were both clean & ready to go upon our arrival. We enjoyed amazing snorkeling, swimming, stargazing & nature watching during our stay. The caretaker Sandra is a sweetheart & my wife even arranged for her to cook us a Caribbean style dinner one night - delicious! Getting to the Brac may not be the easiest thing depending on where you're traveling from, but once you get here you may not want to leave.
A welcome retreat from the gray, cold Midwest winter.
Just returned home to snowy Connecticut from perhaps the most beautiful home in Cayman Brac. The property is artistic expertise combined with the best elements of nature in a relaxing combination of my favorite things. Sunshine, sandy beach, turquoise sea, amazing landscaping, flowering trees (even an orchid growing on a seagrape tree!) surrounding a refreshing pool. From the moment we arrived at this stunning property, I felt calm and peaceful, and left my everyday stress behind. The kitchen is state-of-the art and flows into a comfortable great room. On either side of this central space are immaculate, well-appointed master suites with comfy pillow-top beds and extra beds tucked in the corners if you bring the children/grandchildren. With two additional bedrooms and a third bath with washer/dryer downstairs, there is room for everyone. With outdoor showers, its a breeze to rinse off the sand before entering the beautiful tiled floors of the wrap-around breezy deck with spectacular ocean views. We gathered eggs from the friendly chickens every morning and appreciated the well-stocked kitchen where we cooked almost every meal. There's even an outdoor grill and a pizza oven, not to mention the dive equipment rinsing station that we used daily! The caretakers, Mr. & Mrs. Clark, are attentive but not intrusive - one day when we lost water for a few hours, they were quick to come, investigate, and fix the problem. You can see the artistic touches of owners Karen and Ray throughout - from fabulous paintings to the meandering garden paths with artistic surprises around every bend, to breezy sea-related decor in every room. We have rented other homes in Cayman Brac but will never choose to stay anywhere other than Tropical RunaWay when we return. My husband and I are bee keepers and we saw signs that Ray and Karen may be bringing honey bees to this idyllic location - I hope they do, because it will add another unique feature to this amazing property. I hesitated to write this review because I would like to keep this fabulous find a secret, so there will be availability for me to book again for next year! Ray & Karen, thanks for sharing your tropical paradise with us!
My brother and sisters and I have been vacationing on Cayman Brac for over 30 years. Tropical Runway was the perfect spot for our family gathering, and we give it our highest recommendation as a fantastic place to enjoy your island stay. We stayed in the “Loggerhead House” and the accommodations were the best we have experienced on the island – complete with a newly renovated full kitchen, comfortable living room area, large bedrooms, beachfront access, solar powered AC, purified water, wi-fi, and a grocery store just a short bike ride away. The house had every amenity we could wish for and we made good use of the kayaks, snorkeling equipment and bike. The grounds are beautifully maintained with an eye toward sustainability and natural flora/fauna. The private sandy beach was a favorite of ours, as were the views of the aqua water from the master bedroom and villa balconies, the pristine rainwater-filled swimming pool, the conch shell lined paths, the coconut palms, hammocks, and a hen house nestled in the forest. Tropical Runway owners Ray and Karen were gracious hosts who shared with us their local knowledge (e.g., where to buy the best fish) and brought us freshly laid eggs daily. We all agreed that we enjoyed our time at Tropical Runaway more than even the pictures had led us to believe we would, and we have already made plans to return soon!
In April, 2016, my family and I stayed at beautiful Tropical RunaWay and found it to be a perfect place for a family gathering! The house and surrounding grounds were very well-equipped with everything one would need, including a chicken coop from which our grandchildren collected fresh eggs for breakfast every morning! We spent many hours playing in the pool and lounging on the wrap-around veranda after a day of snorkeling, caving, rock climbing, fishing, or kayaking. The beach is perfect for long walks, and the cabanas are great places to watch the gorgeous sunsets every night. Karen, the owner, and the Clarks were extremely helpful with their “insider” hints on where to go and how to navigate the island. Simply put, everything combined to make this an unforgettable experience!
Diving and snorkeling right from the beach in front of the house. Water shoes recommended, some sizes available on site. Occasional currents, checking conditions is recommended.
