West End Villa Rental Photos and Description

Villa, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 6 adults and 4 children sharing with parents

The homes are situated on 2 1/2 acres with over 500' of white sandy beach and sheltered, private, in ground, swimming pool, shared between the two houses. There is a four bedroom house and a one bedroom house. There is nice privacy between the two houses. The property is ideal for those who wish to relax in a hammock in the shade of a cabana, or those who wish to dive the wall a short distance from shore. Locals claim this is the best beach for shelling, strolling and watching the sunset over Little Cayman. We are the last property on the end of the island. Convenience and tranquility make this truly a destination for the romantic and adventurous. We are equipped for scuba divers, with rinse and drying stations. Our water is town water and perfectly safe for drinking and cooking. A 50' x10' covered porch beckons for a cold beer or a Pina Colada while overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the sunset over Little Cayman. If you are so inclined you can split a coconut, have a hermit crab race or stroll through our paths carved among the Sea Grapes. This peace of heaven is ready for rent. We are close to the major resorts and restaurants if you need a 'neon' fix and far enough away that you can play Castaway. Bring your ipod as we can doc your favourite reggae tunes. Hands up, baby hands up......You will enjoy your stay and you will not want to leave.

Our beach is the turtle nesting beach on Cayman Brac. June through November turtles can be observed in the evening scooping out the sand preparing for their egg laying. Check out the tropicalrunaway website to see a photo of a giant green sea turtle on our beach. We also have nesting Loggerhead and Hawksbill sea turtles. Other resident wildlife on the island that are fun to observe are the nesting Brown Boobies on the bluff in March and April and the large Iguanas that live down the road year round.

The master bedroom has an extremely comfortable king bed and a single bed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. The other upstairs bedroom has an extremely comfortable queen bed and a single bed/daybed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. Comfortable beds are a top priority for us. The two bedrooms downstairs share a bathroom. One has a queen bed, same outstanding quality and the other a queen that is slightly firmer for those that prefer that type of bed. No tossing and turning all night because of a hard or lumpy bed! The house is ideal for 3 couples to share, or 3 couples with young children. It also suits 2 couples with 2 to 4 older children (the kids can share the lower level bedrooms and bathroom). I recommend larger groups consider reserving the entire property for their group. Groups of 8 adults will really enjoy being able to spread out between the 2 houses and having access to 2 kitchens/fridges.

The kitchen is well equipped.

Why The Owner chose Cayman Islands

We enjoy the safety, friendliness and diving on the best diving destination in the Caribbean

What makes this villa unique

We are so close to amenities and still very private.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful private property on a small, quiet island. Secluded sandy beachfront. Good amenities including kayaks, snorkeling gear, extra towels, furniture on all decks and beach front with 2 cabanas. Near beach dive sites, dive shop and grocery store. Owners very helpful in arranging trip and facilitating vacation rental. Well stocked kitchen. Entire house, indoors, out and beachfront was made to allow easy family/friends interactions, yet afforded privacy if desired. Main house and smaller 1 BR home on property.

Wonderful place!

  • 5 of 5

In April, 2016, my family and I stayed at beautiful Tropical RunaWay and found it to be a perfect place for a family gathering! The house and surrounding grounds were very well-equipped with everything one would need, including a chicken coop from which our grandchildren collected fresh eggs for breakfast every morning! We spent many hours playing in the pool and lounging on the wrap-around veranda after a day of snorkeling, caving, rock climbing, fishing, or kayaking. The beach is perfect for long walks, and the cabanas are great places to watch the gorgeous sunsets every night. Karen, the owner, and the Clarks were extremely helpful with their “insider” hints on where to go and how to navigate the island. Simply put, everything combined to make this an unforgettable experience!

Owner's Response: Thanks for writing such a glowing review. I, of course, think Brac is wonderful, but I am always so happy to hear that our guests have had so many fun adventures on the island. It is a busy little place if you are adventuresome and like exploring out of the way spots, usually all by yourself (no other tourist in sight). As you can imagine the maintenance on a house in the tropics never ends so I'm glad you can reassure future guests that you found what you needed at the house and that your group was comfortable and so happy. The beach is the highlight for sure. It's what drew us to the property.

Dear Karen,

Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful villa with us. The house was even more amazing in person than in the pictures. You must be a good cook as the kitchen was very well stocked with good cooking utensils and even a good knife! As a cook myself I was really looking forward to using the outside stove but it was way to windy. Relaxing was on the menu the week we where there as it was to windy to swim in the ocean except for one day we did the awesome snorkel in the aquarium. But we had the fabulous pool and hammocks and sweeping patios to hang out, read and play cards. The guys did a lot of cave exploring and Linda and I had many peaceful days floating in the pool and reading books. We never saw anyone else on the beach all week. The grounds are really pretty and the fresh eggs daily made it almost a B&B. A real treat! I would highly recommend your place to anyone.

Thank You Sincerely, Lucy

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking time to write such a nice review. The kitchen is well equipped,as you mentioned, because this is our actual home where we live half the year. The houses are not just rental units we manage like so many places are on VRBO, but our real home. I am glad you enjoyed your stay at TROPICAL RUNaWAY.

Tropical Runaway Family Christmas Vacation

  • 5 of 5

Our family rented Tropical Runaway for our Christmas vacation for 2015. We have nothing but praise for this facility. The house and grounds far exceeded our expectations. We also found the furnishings (pots, pans, towels etc) also to be first rate. Everything we needed was available. The only minor problem we experienced was immediately taken care of by the caretakers. We also made very good use of the adjoining beach and ocean. We were amazed that for the first 5 days we were there, we did not see anyone else on "our" beach. It was truly like have your very own beach. As is said, amazing! The kayaks were used almost daily. The snorkeling was also exceptional with the grandkids being able to find and collect several conchs, which were quickly turned into ceviche and chowder. The shell collecting was also fantastic. We were able to find a huge variety of the different species. One of our favorite memories is the "shell swap" that went on every night. We collected the shells and put them on the table at the side of the house. Every evening we would arrange he shells in order. The next morning the shells would be in disarray and some of our treasures were missing and in there place was a less desirable (at least to the hermit crabs) shells. Hermit crabs of all sizes came to shell shop. It was great! We also appreciated the chickens. Not only were they a source of fresh eggs, but were very friendly each time we visited them. They were more than happy to come sit on your arm to see what you had for them. We also had great visits and conversations with the fellow who took care of them. The pool was great addition. It seemed a little redundant to have a pool so close to the ocean, but boy did it get used! A quick dip to cool off was perfect. We also enjoyed cooking chicken on your outdoor oven. It was perfect for cooking, and added greatly to the flavor of the chicken. All in all a most excellent vacation spot. We found the local folks to be extremely friendly and helpful. Any questions we had were pleasantly answered even though I'm sure they had been ask many times before. Diving and fishing were not up to par due to higher than normal winds, but that is something only God can control. It certainly was one of our very favorite family vacations. Thank you for sharing your most excellent home.

Owner's Response: I can not thank you enough for taking the time to write such an accurate review of what it is like to stay at TROPICAL RUNaWAY. The details that sum up the daily routines that just naturally arise while staying on the property will really help future guests understand what this rental offers. Thank you for writing about the care and attention we give to the kitchen supplies, the linens, the comfortable seating and numerous spots around the property where you can go and be comfortable and reflect on the peace and quiet. We have put so much effort into offering a beautifully landscaped, comfortable, private, but conveniently located home for your holiday. Your review hit the nail right on the head...beautifully written. (The chickens are so friendly because we have raised them from newborn, so they love the attention.)

Let the good times roll!

  • 5 of 5

We just completed a three week stay at the properties. The property is amazing with beautiful grounds and very well equipped homes. This is our second year visiting the Brac and we love the island and its friendly people. If you want to cook, i would strongly suggest you bring a cooler with meat and frozen veggies as well as other prepackaged foods and snacks. If not do not, you will surely suffer sticker shock at the grocery. Your meat and frozen veggies need a USDA sticker on them. You may be assessed an import fee of 17%., but this is a small price to pay. ( we were not assessed the fee, but were told next time we travel to have an itemized list of our groceries.) Donate your cooler and any unwanted items to the humane society thrift store which is located by the police station and bakery on the north side.If they are not open ,leave your items outside. Be prepared for absolute confusion at the airport in Grand Cayman, but remember the end result is well worth it. We also had an outpatient visit to Faith Hospital ( due to a preexisting condition of one of our travelers). The hospital staff were thorough and the care was very good. However, if you have a serious medical condition, this is a very small hospital and you may need to leave the island for treatment.. Leave your good clothes at home, but being leather gloves if you are a hiker. Be prepared to love this place!

Birthday celebration in the Brac

  • 5 of 5

We just spent 10 days at Tropical Runaway and it was excellent. The grounds are beautiful including the sunsets over Little Cayman. We saw shooting stars and started to identify constellations.

The house has all you can want. It is well kept up and very comfortable. We mostly cooked at the house as there were 6 adults and 2 children. We used both the pizza grill and the gas grill and there was plenty of wood cut for a great wood fire. The pool was a nice perk for the kids.

We were in Cayman Brac in February of 2015 for a month so got to know the grocery stores and restaurants. The bakery/café in Spot Bay is worth the trip and Kirkconnell grocery store is a bit cheaper than the market in the West end. Tried Barry's for jerk and the Star for local food. You always have to make a trip to Tipsy Turtle at the dive resort where you get more American food.

One final comment - the house owner - Karen - was very responsive and helpful in making all our arrangements She and her husband provide an added perk - the chicken who lay fresh eggs everyday. I would suggest you see the house before you buy things you might need for cooking. We brought some spices and oil and none of it was needed.

If you decide to stay at Tropical Runaway you will have a great experience and I'll be jealous.

Owner's Response: I'm happy to hear your "family time" at TROPICAL RUNaWAY worked out so well. I think future guests will really appreciate your thoughtful review with information about the island too. At TROPICAL RUNaWAY, the priority is comfort, cleanliness, and everything working. These have always been important considerations during our travels, so we do our best to keep the property the way we would want to find an accommodation. I am glad we delivered on all accounts for your "family time". The property is set up perfectly with families in mind (we are pretty family oriented ourselves). Reserving the whole property for family get togethers is becoming a more regular occurrence with our guests. The other side is of course is the dedicated divers that reserve the property. Thank you very much for taking the time to right such a helpful review.

The Perfect Vacation

  • 5 of 5

One month after our return home we are still talking about our stay at Tropical Runaway. Words seem inadequate to describe this property and our experience there. This summer was our family's 10th visit to Cayman Brac. Never before have we had a visit as perfect as this one. Tropical Runaway is a paradise like no other on this wonderful island. The lovely grounds offering hours of exploration for the children, the sparkling pool just the right place to find relief from the heat and relax after a long afternoon snorkeling, the amazing stretch of rare sandy beach providing a place to witness a different, spectacular sunset each evening. The children loved visiting the chickens every day and collecting the seemingly endless bounty of eggs, searching for tiny hermit crabs in the most unusual selection of shells, and finding all manner of unique lizards, frogs, and even insects we had never seen before on previous visits. We loved the cabanas and enjoyed them every evening as the place to watch the sky change, welcome the cool breeze, and reflect on the day. The smaller house was the perfect retreat for the grandparents with all the amenities and comforts they could want or need. The big house was wonderfully comfortable, offering plenty of room for all of us as a main gathering place to watch movies, eat meals, or play games. The wraparound porch gave us a different place to watch the stars every night, and a terrific view of the planes on their daily arrivals and departures. Although we were excited about the possibility of seeing a turtle we never expected that we would end up being included in the official rescue and release of turtle hatchlings, as well as having the unbelievable experience of watching a turtle dig her nest and lay eggs one evening. Karen and Ray's home is truly a labor of love and we were lucky enough to find it and spend our vacation there. The property and the incredible things we experienced this summer made this year's trip one we will never forget. And we are already looking forward to our return next year. We all agree there simply couldn't be a better place.

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. Nothing else can be so helpful to future guests as comments from past guests. It seems like you established a terrific routine to enjoy all parts of the 2 and 1/2 acres on the property. The size of the property certainly contributes majorly to the feeling of seclusion and privacy. I think the children will remember for years the excitement of watching the sea turtles emerge from the nest. it is an event that most do not get to see in real time. I always try to convince groups of your size to reserve the whole property. There is such great distance and privacy between the two houses, it is not imperative, but for larger groups it really adds a lot to the quality of the vacation for such a small extra cost/day/person. The beach and houses will be waiting for your return next summer and the turtles will most likely be there too.
