Overview

About the property

Villa, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, Sleeps 6 adults and 1- 4 children sharing w/parents

The homes are situated on 2 1/2 acres with over 500' of white sandy beach and sheltered, private, in ground, swimming pool, shared between the two houses. There is a four bedroom house and a one bedroom house. There is nice privacy between the two houses. The property is ideal for those who wish to relax in a hammock in the shade of a cabana, or those who wish to dive the wall a short distance from shore. Locals claim this is the best beach for shelling, strolling and watching the sunset over Little Cayman. We are the last property on the end of the island. Convenience and tranquility make this truly a destination for the romantic and adventurous. We are equipped for scuba divers, with rinse and drying stations. Our water is town water and perfectly safe for drinking and cooking. A 50' x10' covered porch beckons for a cold beer or a Pina Colada while overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the sunset over Little Cayman. If you are so inclined you can split a coconut, have a hermit crab race or stroll through our paths carved among the Sea Grapes. This peace of heaven is ready for rent. We are close to the major resorts and restaurants if you need a 'neon' fix and far enough away that you can play Castaway. Bring your ipod as we can doc your favourite reggae tunes. Hands up, baby hands up......You will enjoy your stay and you will not want to leave.

Our beach is the turtle nesting beach on Cayman Brac. June through November turtles can be observed in the evening scooping out the sand preparing for their egg laying. Check out the tropicalrunaway website to see a photo of a giant green sea turtle on our beach. We also have nesting Loggerhead and Hawksbill sea turtles. Other resident wildlife on the island that are fun to observe are the nesting Brown Boobies on the bluff in March and April and the large Iguanas that live down the road year round.

The master bedroom has an extremely comfortable king bed and a single bed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. The other upstairs bedroom has an extremely comfortable queen bed and a single bed/daybed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. Comfortable beds are a top priority for us. The two bedrooms downstairs share a bathroom. One has a queen bed, same outstanding quality and the other a queen that is slightly firmer for those that prefer that type of bed. No tossing and turning all night because of a hard or lumpy bed! The house is ideal for 3 couples to share, or 3 couples with young children. Children sharing with their parents are free. It also suits 2 couples with 2 to 4 older children (the kids can share the lower level bedrooms and bathroom). I recommend larger groups consider reserving the entire property for their group. Groups of 8 adults will really enjoy being able to spread out between the 2 houses and having access to 2 kitchens/fridges.

The kitchen is well equipped.

We enjoy the safety, friendliness and diving on the best diving destination in the Caribbean

What makes this villa unique

We are so close to amenities and still very private.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Wonderful private property on a small, quiet island. Secluded sandy beachfront. Good amenities including kayaks, snorkeling gear, extra towels, furniture on all decks and beach front with 2 cabanas. Near beach dive sites, dive shop and grocery store. Owners very helpful in arranging trip and facilitating vacation rental. Well stocked kitchen. Entire house, indoors, out and beachfront was made to allow easy family/friends interactions, yet afforded privacy if desired. Main house and smaller 1 BR home on property.

Wonderful holiday at Tropical Runaway on Cayman Brac

  • 5 of 5

Two couples had a wonderful holiday March 4 - 11 at Ray and Karen Zaremba's Tropical Runaway on Cayman Brac. We rented a car with B and S and toured the island; stopping to explore caves, hike, visit the museum, snorkel and try various restaurants. Due to some injuries incurred before our trip, we snorkeled instead of diving and saw a wonderful array of vibrant fish at Scott's Pier. The house has incredible landscaping and we spent every afternoon lounging by the new pool. There was so much room to prepare meals in the renovated, large kitchen and then we ate outside relaxing on the beautiful covered porch. Mornings were spent walking on the beach collecting shells and getting fresh eggs from the friendly chickens in the chicken coop to prepare for breakfast. There are a number of large bedrooms - ours had a comfy king bed and each bedroom came with its own ensuite. We met wonderful neighbours and ate many meals at Star Island and Tipsy Turtle. We would recommend shopping at Kirkconnels. Altogether a great, relaxing week in a fabulous guest home with incredible views!!

Owner's Response: Thank you for taking the time to write a review. It is so helpful to me, as it gives perspective guests ideas of what they can do around the property and even further afield around the island. It is so informative and very well composed.

Private mini resort!

  • 4 of 5

We just returned from our stay at Tropical Run a way. While the weather was nothing to boast about, we did enjoy the the property. The grounds are lovely and lush and very private. The pool area is nice with lots of shade under the sails. We spent a lot of time on the covered porch on the very comfy chairs. The beach is right there with more spots to sit by the water. It truly is your very own mini resort! The barbecue on the porch is excellent and there is a wood fired covered oven that we used to do steaks on one night and they were awesome! We played corn hole by the pool with the game pieces that are there. The fresh eggs from the hens in the coop were great. We had trouble keeping up with production! This is a spot to go unplug, and unwind!

We were a group of 3 adult couples who were there to dive. Mrs.Clarke was waiting for us at the airport to lead us back to the house. After a quick stop at the liquor store , we did the 3 minute drive to the house. It is a lovely home, with very nicely stocked spice drawer and oils , vinegar , condiments, baking items etc. The two main bedrooms upstairs are a good size with big closets ,ensuite baths, and comfy beds. There was no soap for the showers, so be sure to bring some shower gel with you. The bedrooms on the ground level are accessed from the outside and are connected by an interior door(louvered). The full bath is accessed from the outside and also has the laundry facilities included. Normally the outside access to the loo wouldn't.be a big deal, but with the unsettled weather we experienced the couple using that room didn't enjoy the middle of the night trips to the loo at all. We also wouldn't recommend this house if you have 4 couples as privacy in the 2 lower bedrooms isn't great. However if you have kids that are middle school through Highschool they would love the set up!

We went up to the Barracuda for pizza and beer one evening, great pizza! The Cayman Brac resort offers a barbecue night every Friday , we went twice! The ribs are excellent, and so are the Mudslides! Big Daddy's Liquor Store definitely has a better selection than Mary Lou's Liquor. There are 3 grocery stores and you probably need to visit all 3 ( Market Place, Kirkconnells, and Billy's) to find things that you want. Pray that the Barge is able to dock so supplies get there.

Thanks for sharing your lovely home with us Karen!

PARADISE!!!

  • 5 of 5

This was our second year at Tropical Runaway. I have so many ways I would like to explain this piece of paradise and the property owners. The location on the island is the absolute best and so very private and serene. Karen is amazing to work with and in the two years we have stayed with her we literally have had no problems whatsoever. I am very picky and this property far exceeds my highest standards. It is well equipped and maintained. This year we enjoyed returning and seeing the new deck off of the side of the house. You can certainly tell the owners take pride in their property. The locals on the island are amazing and we looked forward to seeing them again this year. The property managers, Mr and Mrs Clarke, are ALWAYS available and eager to help. We love love the chickens and the fresh eggs everyday. We feel so very fortunate to have discovered Tropical Runaway and plan to return as often as Karen will allow us. We have already booked for next year. This property does not disappoint and the island has so much to offer. The sunsets are absolutely magical-you don't want to miss this gem. I real place to unwind and get away from the hectic world. Thank you so much, Karen!!!!

Owner's Response: Thank you very much for taking the time to post a review. You really do understand the island and the property and the spirit in which we share it with our guests. Occasionally a guest misses the essence of our special spot, but you nailed it perfectly. We believe it is unique and we are very fortunate to own it and spend time there. We get a little worn down from time to time with the endless maintenance required for this spot, but when we have guests like you and your family come to stay, then it spurs us on to continue to improve and share our good fortune. You are always welcome back.

FABULOUS

  • 5 of 5

The houses and property are perfect. Everything is well maintained, the house is clean, comfortable and so close to the sea and the best beach. It is very private and we had the beach to ourselves the whole stay. No other property compares. Amazing.

Brac Perfection!

  • 5 of 5

Such a great property!! There's lots to explore, the beach is amazing as well as all of the additional gear you find around the property. Didn't venture out to the chicken coop, but we won't miss it next time. Overall experience was fantastic. Re-booked again for weekend in May. :) Recommended 110%

Perfect Getaway

  • 5 of 5

This August was our 3rd visit to Tropical Runaway, and our 11th visit to Cayman Brac. As long as we continue visiting this island we hope to be able to stay at Karen and Ray's beautiful home. This property is truly paradise, and each time we return , the grounds are even more beautiful, as the trees grow larger, the gardens more lush... it is truly amazing the amount of attention and care that is obviously put into the beautiful plant life alone! The smaller home is perfect for the grandparents, as the rest of the family stays in the larger home. The larger home easily accommodates all of us for meals, and provides many different places to retreat, whether it's one of the generous bedrooms or relaxing in one of the many comfortable chairs on the porch that wraps around the entire home. The recent move of the porch on the front, closer to the beach, seems to have made the star gazing even better. We love to sit out at night and look up at the Milky Way, something we can never see at home. The sandy beach along the property is a gift, and something not too common on Cayman Brac. Watching the nightly sunsets from the western cabana is different each night and never gets old. This year we had quite a surprise when we walked out to the cabana and saw three surfers catching wave after wave. Cayman Brac is an incredible island. The natural beauty, the friendly people, the incredible waters, the peace and quiet all keep us coming back year after year. And having found this wonderful property to call home for a few weeks makes it the perfect vacation.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your thoughtful review. You really have a way with words and I appreciate the time you took to express your thoughts and feelings about the property. You really captured the essence of it and told potential guests how nice it can be for a family to spend quality time together. Your parents will be impressed if your schedule allows you to return next year, since as I write this, the little house is undergoing a renovation, with a new kitchen and plans to make the entire space of the little house more open and a better flow. I am so happy you had more special times and memories with your family at TROPICAL RUNaWAY.
