|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
The homes are situated on 2 1/2 acres with over 500' of white sandy beach and sheltered, private, in ground, swimming pool, shared between the two houses. There is a four bedroom house and a one bedroom house. There is nice privacy between the two houses. The property is ideal for those who wish to relax in a hammock in the shade of a cabana, or those who wish to dive the wall a short distance from shore. Locals claim this is the best beach for shelling, strolling and watching the sunset over Little Cayman. We are the last property on the end of the island. Convenience and tranquility make this truly a destination for the romantic and adventurous. We are equipped for scuba divers, with rinse and drying stations. Our water is town water and perfectly safe for drinking and cooking. A 50' x10' covered porch beckons for a cold beer or a Pina Colada while overlooking the Caribbean Sea and the sunset over Little Cayman. If you are so inclined you can split a coconut, have a hermit crab race or stroll through our paths carved among the Sea Grapes. This peace of heaven is ready for rent. We are close to the major resorts and restaurants if you need a 'neon' fix and far enough away that you can play Castaway. Bring your ipod as we can doc your favourite reggae tunes. Hands up, baby hands up......You will enjoy your stay and you will not want to leave.
Our beach is the turtle nesting beach on Cayman Brac. June through November turtles can be observed in the evening scooping out the sand preparing for their egg laying. Check out the tropicalrunaway website to see a photo of a giant green sea turtle on our beach. We also have nesting Loggerhead and Hawksbill sea turtles. Other resident wildlife on the island that are fun to observe are the nesting Brown Boobies on the bluff in March and April and the large Iguanas that live down the road year round.
The master bedroom has an extremely comfortable king bed and a single bed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. The other upstairs bedroom has an extremely comfortable queen bed and a single bed/daybed. There is an ensuite and a walk in closet. Comfortable beds are a top priority for us. The two bedrooms downstairs share a bathroom. One has a queen bed, same outstanding quality and the other a queen that is slightly firmer for those that prefer that type of bed. No tossing and turning all night because of a hard or lumpy bed! The house is ideal for 3 couples to share, or 3 couples with young children. It also suits 2 couples with 2 to 4 older children (the kids can share the lower level bedrooms and bathroom). I recommend larger groups consider reserving the entire property for their group. Groups of 8 adults will really enjoy being able to spread out between the 2 houses and having access to 2 kitchens/fridges.
The kitchen is well equipped.

We enjoy the safety, friendliness and diving on the best diving destination in the Caribbean
We are so close to amenities and still very private.
Wonderful private property on a small, quiet island. Secluded sandy beachfront. Good amenities including kayaks, snorkeling gear, extra towels, furniture on all decks and beach front with 2 cabanas. Near beach dive sites, dive shop and grocery store. Owners very helpful in arranging trip and facilitating vacation rental. Well stocked kitchen. Entire house, indoors, out and beachfront was made to allow easy family/friends interactions, yet afforded privacy if desired. Main house and smaller 1 BR home on property.
My brother and sisters and I have been vacationing on Cayman Brac for over 30 years. Tropical Runway was the perfect spot for our family gathering, and we give it our highest recommendation as a fantastic place to enjoy your island stay. We stayed in the “Loggerhead House” and the accommodations were the best we have experienced on the island – complete with a newly renovated full kitchen, comfortable living room area, large bedrooms, beachfront access, solar powered AC, purified water, wi-fi, and a grocery store just a short bike ride away. The house had every amenity we could wish for and we made good use of the kayaks, snorkeling equipment and bike. The grounds are beautifully maintained with an eye toward sustainability and natural flora/fauna. The private sandy beach was a favorite of ours, as were the views of the aqua water from the master bedroom and villa balconies, the pristine rainwater-filled swimming pool, the conch shell lined paths, the coconut palms, hammocks, and a hen house nestled in the forest. Tropical Runway owners Ray and Karen were gracious hosts who shared with us their local knowledge (e.g., where to buy the best fish) and brought us freshly laid eggs daily. We all agreed that we enjoyed our time at Tropical Runaway more than even the pictures had led us to believe we would, and we have already made plans to return soon!
In April, 2016, my family and I stayed at beautiful Tropical RunaWay and found it to be a perfect place for a family gathering! The house and surrounding grounds were very well-equipped with everything one would need, including a chicken coop from which our grandchildren collected fresh eggs for breakfast every morning! We spent many hours playing in the pool and lounging on the wrap-around veranda after a day of snorkeling, caving, rock climbing, fishing, or kayaking. The beach is perfect for long walks, and the cabanas are great places to watch the gorgeous sunsets every night. Karen, the owner, and the Clarks were extremely helpful with their “insider” hints on where to go and how to navigate the island. Simply put, everything combined to make this an unforgettable experience!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful villa with us. The house was even more amazing in person than in the pictures. You must be a good cook as the kitchen was very well stocked with good cooking utensils and even a good knife! As a cook myself I was really looking forward to using the outside stove but it was way to windy. Relaxing was on the menu the week we where there as it was to windy to swim in the ocean except for one day we did the awesome snorkel in the aquarium. But we had the fabulous pool and hammocks and sweeping patios to hang out, read and play cards. The guys did a lot of cave exploring and Linda and I had many peaceful days floating in the pool and reading books. We never saw anyone else on the beach all week. The grounds are really pretty and the fresh eggs daily made it almost a B&B. A real treat! I would highly recommend your place to anyone.
Thank You Sincerely, Lucy
Our family rented Tropical Runaway for our Christmas vacation for 2015. We have nothing but praise for this facility. The house and grounds far exceeded our expectations. We also found the furnishings (pots, pans, towels etc) also to be first rate. Everything we needed was available. The only minor problem we experienced was immediately taken care of by the caretakers. We also made very good use of the adjoining beach and ocean. We were amazed that for the first 5 days we were there, we did not see anyone else on "our" beach. It was truly like have your very own beach. As is said, amazing! The kayaks were used almost daily. The snorkeling was also exceptional with the grandkids being able to find and collect several conchs, which were quickly turned into ceviche and chowder. The shell collecting was also fantastic. We were able to find a huge variety of the different species. One of our favorite memories is the "shell swap" that went on every night. We collected the shells and put them on the table at the side of the house. Every evening we would arrange he shells in order. The next morning the shells would be in disarray and some of our treasures were missing and in there place was a less desirable (at least to the hermit crabs) shells. Hermit crabs of all sizes came to shell shop. It was great! We also appreciated the chickens. Not only were they a source of fresh eggs, but were very friendly each time we visited them. They were more than happy to come sit on your arm to see what you had for them. We also had great visits and conversations with the fellow who took care of them. The pool was great addition. It seemed a little redundant to have a pool so close to the ocean, but boy did it get used! A quick dip to cool off was perfect. We also enjoyed cooking chicken on your outdoor oven. It was perfect for cooking, and added greatly to the flavor of the chicken. All in all a most excellent vacation spot. We found the local folks to be extremely friendly and helpful. Any questions we had were pleasantly answered even though I'm sure they had been ask many times before. Diving and fishing were not up to par due to higher than normal winds, but that is something only God can control. It certainly was one of our very favorite family vacations. Thank you for sharing your most excellent home.
e have nothing but praise
We just completed a three week stay at the properties. The property is amazing with beautiful grounds and very well equipped homes. This is our second year visiting the Brac and we love the island and its friendly people. If you want to cook, i would strongly suggest you bring a cooler with meat and frozen veggies as well as other prepackaged foods and snacks. If not do not, you will surely suffer sticker shock at the grocery. Your meat and frozen veggies need a USDA sticker on them. You may be assessed an import fee of 17%., but this is a small price to pay. ( we were not assessed the fee, but were told next time we travel to have an itemized list of our groceries.) Donate your cooler and any unwanted items to the humane society thrift store which is located by the police station and bakery on the north side.If they are not open ,leave your items outside. Be prepared for absolute confusion at the airport in Grand Cayman, but remember the end result is well worth it. We also had an outpatient visit to Faith Hospital ( due to a preexisting condition of one of our travelers). The hospital staff were thorough and the care was very good. However, if you have a serious medical condition, this is a very small hospital and you may need to leave the island for treatment.. Leave your good clothes at home, but being leather gloves if you are a hiker. Be prepared to love this place!
We just spent 10 days at Tropical Runaway and it was excellent. The grounds are beautiful including the sunsets over Little Cayman. We saw shooting stars and started to identify constellations.
The house has all you can want. It is well kept up and very comfortable. We mostly cooked at the house as there were 6 adults and 2 children. We used both the pizza grill and the gas grill and there was plenty of wood cut for a great wood fire. The pool was a nice perk for the kids.
We were in Cayman Brac in February of 2015 for a month so got to know the grocery stores and restaurants. The bakery/café in Spot Bay is worth the trip and Kirkconnell grocery store is a bit cheaper than the market in the West end. Tried Barry's for jerk and the Star for local food. You always have to make a trip to Tipsy Turtle at the dive resort where you get more American food.
One final comment - the house owner - Karen - was very responsive and helpful in making all our arrangements She and her husband provide an added perk - the chicken who lay fresh eggs everyday. I would suggest you see the house before you buy things you might need for cooking. We brought some spices and oil and none of it was needed.
If you decide to stay at Tropical Runaway you will have a great experience and I'll be jealous.
Diving and snorkeling right from the beach in front of the house. Water shoes recommended, some sizes available on site. Occasional currents, checking conditions is recommended.
