Mid-Century Mountain Home with Breathtaking Views
A nature lover's dream....
The large windows of this rustic home look out on the San Francisco Bay and the trails of Mount Tam are literally right out your door. It's hard to believe that San Francisco is a mere 14 miles away when you wake up to deer in the garden and the smell of pine.
There's a large patio surrounding the property from which to enjoy the ever-changing vistas of San Francisco and Mt. Tam . And despite the mountain setting, it's only a mile drive down to the quaint Mill Valley town square.
This cozy artist's retreat is located at the head of a hiking trail which will take you as far as Stinson Beach (if you've got the energy) or as close as the little stream about half mile down the fire trail.
A large fireplace, terrazzo floors, eclectic antiques and interesting old books... It is very much a retreat whether you want to stay put & relax, sail or mountain bike, experience small town life in Mill valley or explore the many sights in San Francisco.

Relaxing home, elevated bay view, great location.
We loved our stay at this mountainside home, built mid-century and kept rustic and full of family history. Outside, the view of Mill Valley below and beyond to the bay and downtown San Francisco is truly spectacular and ever-changing. We really enjoyed the uniqueness of this home, as well as some of the local Mill Valley businesses. The place is a short 25-30 min drive to SF but far enough away to enjoy the natural beauty and peacefulness of the woods. An ideal place to relax after tooling around SF all day. Thanks Susan for all the help and advice!
This house is so charming - frozen in time, it feels like a movie set! And the views are stunning!
The house was clean and comfortable. The weather was perfect and the views are amazing so we sat outside a lot. Watching the fog lift off the city while you sip your coffee is pretty close to a perfect cup! We also loved the wood stove and had two fires while we were there. So cosy!
amazing view, great house
The view from the house is outstanding. We had clear skies the entire time, so lucked out a little there. Easy drive into SF and down to the shops/restaurants in Mill Valley, Tiburon and Sausolito. The house was really cool mid century. Comfortable layout. Only a couple of criticisms we would have is that they repair (and install in some cases) the screens on the windows. We had warm weather (80 degrees) so we had to open lots of windows to get comfortable (no AC) in the evening. Also, clean the windows more frequently, since the view (both sides of the house) is a primary feature here (maybe our visit was at the end of the cleaning cycle). The mattresses were not great (just ok). The house the gardens and the view are so cool that it's easy to look past the few blemishes.
A great place. Nice to get out of the city to quiet and seclusion.
Easy to check in and out. Kitchen with everything you need. Views are unbelievable. Alcatraz, the Bay bridge and San Francisco from above. Mt Tam out the living room window. Both beds were great. Susan was great to work with. We will absolutely be back. After reading what I wrote, I seemed to have used the word "great" a lot. Guess that sums it up for us.
Great location! Beautiful views!
The sunrises over San Francisco Bay from the dining room table were magical along with nighttime views of The city. There were also outdoor spaces to enjoy the views. Hiked directly from the house to the top of Mt Tam one day.
The house is a fascinating ‘original 50s period piece even down to the original push button stove in the kitchen. We also enjoyed the radiant heat since it was cool while we were there. Susan was great to work with. Would definitely recommend this house for a unique Mill Valley stay.
Beautiful views and great area to stay!
We loved staying in Mill Valley and enjoyed the mid-century home. All the amenities we needed and very neat. The views were truly stunning and we loved the uniqueness of the area. Mill Valley was a great location to stay, to visit both San Francisco and wine country!
We would definitely recommend this mountain home and hope to return sometime.
Bike Trails, Muir Words, Stinson Beach, Great cafe's and restaurants right in downtown Mill Valley.
