A nature lover's dream....
The large windows of this rustic home look out on the San Francisco Bay and the trails of Mount Tam are literally right out your door. It's hard to believe that San Francisco is a mere 14 miles away when you wake up to deer in the garden and the smell of pine.
There's a large patio surrounding the property from which to enjoy the ever-changing vistas of San Francisco and Mt. Tam . And despite the mountain setting, it's only a mile drive down to the quaint Mill Valley town square.
This cozy artist's retreat is located at the head of a hiking trail which will take you as far as Stinson Beach (if you've got the energy) or as close as the little stream about half mile down the fire trail.
A large fireplace, terrazzo floors, eclectic antiques and interesting old books... It is very much a retreat whether you want to stay put & relax, sail or mountain bike, experience small town life in Mill valley or explore the many sights in San Francisco.
Sleeping: 2 bedrooms (1 king + 1 queen)
Fully Equipped kitchen
Washer / Dryer
Ample parking (rare in this neighborhood)
Susan, the homeowner, is fabulous and so flexible and accommodating. The home has all you will need with so many neat home character features, antiques, tons of books, and on top of the serenity and quiet setting the home is situated between Mt Tam in your backyard and clear sweeping views on the SF Bay in the front yard. It's breathtaking. And all the birds right over you and in front of you, I got to experience why this place is so special and magical. I felt so deeply inspired here and it's just the perfect place to relax and allow your imagination to be free. There's even a great trail behind the home to hike as well that leads to a waterfall. I'll definetly be back here. I stayed with my mother and my girlfriend and we just had such a wonderful experience. Great space for your pets to play too. You will love this home!
We feel so grateful to have found this place and had the opportunity to stay for 2 months. Susan was beyond kind and accommodating and the home was "perfect". The views are spectacular and the home itself is beyond cozy. The decor with antiques, books and paintings take you back in time and make you want to sit back, pour a martini, put on some Frank Sinatra or Herb Alpert, and relax! We also loved the easy access to hiking right out the door and the property is partially fenced which was great for our 2 labs who, after their daily hike, loved exploring and chasing the squirrels. But the best part was the "feel" of the place...so peaceful and beautiful. Although we live close by we plan to visit again...hope to make it at least a yearly event. I cannot recommend this place enough for a weekend or longer stay. We LOVE this home! It is a truly special place!
I live in Tennessee and have several adult children that live in California... in planning my yearly trip there in 2014, I found this place on VRBO... it couldn't have been a more positive experience!... Susan was absolutely wonderful to work with and the place has a magical feeling!... great location, very clean and comfortable, leaving us with the feeling 'we could so live here'...thank you for memories we will always cherish!
This quiet, mountain-side retreat couldn't be more enchanting. The original 50's vibe and authentic vintage decor makes this cozy home so welcoming. The hills are filled with trails that wander from the backyard up thru redwoods and over creeks to the breathtaking views of the bay and ocean. Such a relaxing and peaceful environment, perfect when it's time to recharge. There's something special for each and everyone in the family to appreciate. Thank you so much for opening your family's home, so we could enjoy a little slice of paradise. We will be back!
The pictures of this property cannot do the actual experience of this home justice. It's a gem of a place. I was surprised and delighted from the moment we arrived in the driveway. Wow!
We had an absolutely perfect stay at Ursula's mountain home.
There was everything we could possibly need for our stay, and the views were fabulous. The location in Mill Valley could not be better. The property was very clean and well maintained, and there were fresh flowers in the kitchen when we arrived. All the rooms had beautiful, antiique furniture and there were ample books and games for the kids. We have friends in Mill Valley and we have recommended this property to them to have their family/friends stay when visiting them. For activities in MIll Valley: Try hiking the trails surrounding this property and all the great restaurants. We especially liked the Indian restaurant in town that is now under new management. Thanks again to Ursula and Susan for all of their assistance and for providing a great property. WE will be back!
Bike Trails, Muir Words, Stinson Beach, Great cafe's and restaurants right in downtown Mill Valley.
