Our extensively upgraded renovated private waterfront residence sits on a long swath of 'walk-on' oceanfront beach in Departure Bay, in Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island.

Nestled at the end of a laneway and fronting onto the beach, this 2,100 square foot home has sweeping views of Departure Bay and the far off Coastal Mountain Range. Watch ferries and seaplanes come and go, eagles soar overhead and seals and otters playing off the front deck. The house faces east, so you will wake to magnificent sunrises that flood the house with light through floor-to-ceiling panoramic windows.

This private home has been in our family since 2007. It has undergone extensive upgrades over the years with the last big renovation in 2012/2013. It is West Coast living at its best.

Fabulous Place !

This is a wonderful place and highly recommended !

Firstly we cannot say enough about the owner, Su, as she is so helpful and full of good ideas to get the most out of the surrounding area. She is always available by text and ready to help on any idea or need.

Secondly the house is awesome. When you walk in and see the expansive view across the bay you will be in awe. The large windows make the living area a wonderful place to be. Although close to the shops, it is a quiet location and very peaceful. At night we slept so well with the gentle sounds of the waves crashing onto the beach. The kitchen is really well equipped and you will certainly have everything you need during your stay

We did not get to use the outside area as much as we would have liked as it was unseasonably chilly but the deck area is large and full of places to sit and drink or eat.

There are plenty of good shops close by and Su has many specialist recommendations for the best food of the area. There are many things to do in the area and as long as the weather is kind you will certainly have a great vacation.

We would love to go back one day as we really enjoyed our time at Seaview ! Go ahead, make a reservation !!

Spectacular Second Stay

Ah Seaview Beach House, how we love you! We enjoyed a second stay and are planning on booking our third! The views, the location, the amenities, the size. It's so gorgeous there. Right on the water, the views from the master bedroom are absolutely stunning Inside the house is beautifully clean, well supplied, and comfortably furnished. And outside, there is so much wildlife to see! Lots of birds, the occasional seal, and even otters that pop on shore regularly for a visit! We haven't been lucky enough to spot any, but we've heard thar be whales in the bay.

This property is perfect for any circumstances. A beautiful honeymoon spot. A family vacation. A chance to get away. A puppy vacation (dogs allowed!!). The possibilities are endless! We can not recommend this property enough! It's booked frequently and with good reason!

Great Beach House in Nanaimo

We stayed here over Christmas and had a wonderful time. It was the best equipped rental unit we have ever stayed in and the owner was very well organized and in touch about check in and check out details. The property is located right on the beach in Departure Bay Nanaimo and we loved paddling in the bay in the kayaks. There were bikes available too. We even joined in on the boxing day swim that took place right next door at the park. Loved watching the seaplanes and ferries come and go will sitting in the comfortable open concept living area kitchen downstairs. We will be back!!

Thanksgiving trip

This was one of the best homes at which we have stayed in the last 15 years. The house itself was completely equipped for dogs and owners and Su was always available for questions and suggestions about where to go and what to do. She even ordered a Thanksgiving turkey from Nesvog's- a highly recommended butcher and delicacy shop. Our Golden puppy is just coming out of her depression at leaving constant access to beach and swimming. We certainly hope to return!

Best panoramic view of Departure Bay

Seaview is a wonderful vacation rental! The location is truly beautiful, right on the water, with a fence for privacy. The house is very well equipped and Su was most helpful and close by.

A place like a paradise

We spent 4 month in a perfect place. The house, the location and the managemnet were absolutly perfect.

The house with the huge dinning room, with a very well organized kitchen and with a lot of huge windows

so you can see always the water and the mountains,great.The tree bedrooms and bathrooms where very helpful

for our guests.The location is fantastic, not only seeing outside on the deck, also because you can explore

easily Vancouver Island only 1.30 h to go to Port Alberni or to Victoria.On the deck you have a good weber grill

which was very helpful,we did a lot of Bbq and we had beautiful dinner outside on the deck.

This house was for everybody a special place and all our friends (30) have very good memories on the time , when they have visited us. And Su Grimmer she was so helpful for us , she knows all the good places on the Island were you can find good food, or restaurants.We enjoyed the dinner with here so much and we are so happy to know here and here family, thank`s Su .In the house you have 2 kayaks and it was always a great pleasure

to do some kayaking special in the evening.All over this place is very special ,awesome,awesome.

We will come back sooner or later.

An Ideal Mid-Island Location

Departure Bay is a mere 1.5 kilometers from shopping and dining with a number of restaurants within walking distance of the house. Nanaimo is a thriving community of parks, beaches, charming eclectic shops, waterfront walks, marinas and myriad dining choices from fine to casual, plus all the modern convenience needed for an enjoyable stay. These include grocery stores, gas stations, libraries, theatres, restaurants and delis, specialty food shops, spas, doctors and dentists, massage therapists and beauty salons.

The city of Nanaimo sits mid-Island and is a central arrival and departure point for BC Ferries to the BC Mainland. There is also an airport , or you can come and go via seaplane (Harbour Air, Seair Seaplanes or Westcoast Air) into Nanaimo Harbour from downtown Vancouver or Vancouver International Airport. The seaplane trip is only 20 minutes!

The TransCanada Highway (Hwy #1) runs directly through the heart of Nanaimo. From here you can venture north to Mount Washington, Courtenay and Comox, west to Tofino or south to the Cowichan Valley and Victoria. Please see below for links to information about the area:
