Located on a secluded road on the lovely Damariscotta River, 1.5 miles from the village. A completely furnished year round log cabin, very light, bright and airy. Lovely sunsets and night-time skies are fabulous from the deck, dock or front lawn. Also look for the eagles that land in the pine trees on the property and nearby. By kayak, canoe or row boat visit the surrounding islands, seeing seals, terns, eagles , Blue Heron and Osprey a very short kayak/canoe away. Swim off the shared dock. There are wonderful restaurants, shops and local theater (both movies and live).

Rebecca Parsons purchased this cabin in 1972
I have been here since my first summer long ago. It has been a wonderful place to grow up swimming, boating, playing. The walk to the village is an easy walk - 1.5 miles.
This is a nice little stroll around the point and children will enjoy this by bicycle.
THe cottage was a perfect spot & location for exploring mid-coast Maine We just want to thank you for the hospitality and accomodations. Many, many thanks.
Posted from a thank you note left.
We found the cabin to be clean, very well furnished, and comfortable for the two of us and our small dog. The view of the river and rock bound shore were spectacular - the sunsets an added attraction! The owner was always available if needed. I would not hesitate to recommend this place to a friend and hope to be back next year. The location of the cabin being close to downtown Damariscotta yet within 20 minutes of the Maine coastal spots of Pemaquid and Boothbay Harbor as well as Damariscotta Lake was special; Pemaquid State Park for swimming was a jewel!
My husband and I had the privilege of staying at the Cabin In the Woods for 10 weeks while we waited for our own home to be available. It was a memorable experience during which time we enjoyed seeing spring come and a little into summer. We canoed on the river (canoes supplied), watched beautiful sunsets from the deck or through the dining room window, fished off the dock (tackle supplied) enjoyed cooking with a plethora of cooking utensils, had cookouts on the back deck (everything was supplied) and even had a washer and dryer when we needed it right in the house (no trekking to the Laundromat for us). If we needed anything, we just asked Rebecca or Rick and there it was. We even had TV and wifi. Rebecca asked us several times if we needed anything. We liked having Rebecca and Rick around just for company, but they were not intrusive. The cabin is in good, but rustic condition, just to our liking, with lots of artwork. Oh, did I forget to mention the Jacuzzi in the downstairs bathroom? Another reviewer covered the area attractions so I won't. But Damariscotta is a wonderful little town and surrounding towns are great, too. Plenty to do. We had a great time and hated to leave.
Last August, my husband, small dog and I came to the cabin for two wonderful weeks. The cabin is spacious, very clean and comfortable. The well equiped kitchen had all we needed to make our meals which we ate at a table over looking the river. The living room is large with lots of table space for our books, guides and maps. The bed is very comfortable with a skylight over head and a bathroom just through the door. There is a wonderful deck also looking over the river which we spent hours on reading and viewing birds including a bald eagle. The yard is spacious with more chairs. There is a private dock with kayaks; we paddled both ways on the river enjoying so much beauty. The cottage is on a dirt road for great walking with both water views and woods, blackberries too.
Downtown is nearby with a fabulous used bookstore behind the library. CDs were 3 for a dollar. We bought bags of books and CDs. There are good books in the house too. The rising Tide is a wonderful natural food store with organic food and bulk. They have a farmer's market too.
We love Rockland and Rockport for their fabulous museums though the Rockport museum will be moving to Rockland soon. Rockland has a huge farmers market and so much more to see and do. One day we went to Brunswick to go to the wonderful Bowdoin College Art Museum. Damariscotta is a great jumping off place as there is so much in the area including the ocean.
Our only complaint, actually it's my husband who values his privacy, is Rebecca's husband has a workshop in the garage so was there almost daily to get supplies etc. I didn't mind as the house faces the river.
We had such a lovely stay on Cottage Point. The home is in a perfect location and the owner is so wonderful!! She truely wants you to feel at home and have a memorable vacation. The home is airy and has everything you need including a well stocked kitchen supplies and cookbooks! The area is in between Damariscotta Lake and Pemaquid beach. The best of both worlds! The town offers nice shopping and yummy restuarants. I would recommend this cabin to all my friends and family. The property is right on the river with beautiful views of the town. I cannot wait to see Becky and Richard on our next vacation!
This was a great place for my family and I to stay on our vacation in Maine. The house itself is in great shape and it's location makes it easy to get to other locations (Pemaquid, BoothBay) It was perfect for us.
This log cabin is fantastic! I was fortunate to stay for 2 months....February and March 2013. House was so comfortable, full kitchen, laundry, woodstove, internet.....but the owner, Rebecca, is the star. She things of all the little details a traveler might need. When 3 feet of snow might have prevented me from getting to work on a weekend, the area was plowed and I was escorted to the main road. If any issues came up, she was available just down the road and so helpful! I have lived in many locations for travel-work over the last 13 years, and this is one of my favorite places. I would return to this cabin in a minute....or any property Rebecca had to offer. Don't hesitate....waterfront cabin on the Damariscotta River with wonderful owner and all the amenities of home make this a rustic gem.
There is much to do with the farmers' markets, theater (movies and live), antique shops and festivals.
