Experience authentic Santa Fe. Located very close to the Plaza and Canyon Road, Casa De Colores is a traditional Santa Fe adobe home featuring vigas in most rooms, latillas in an expansive kitchen, indoor and outdoor kiva fireplaces, portal and New Mexican accents throughout. The original date of construction is unknown but the house was extensively remodeled in 2006 with venetian plaster, in-floor radiant heat and kitchen upgrades. The main house has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The casita is a studio with a small galley kitchen. Both houses have washer and dryer.
A portal spans the entire front of the house for cool summer evenings and morning coffee. An outdoor patio with kiva fireplace and barbecue off of the master bedroom is a guest favorite for outdoor meals. The yard is landscaped with xeric natives species, including chamisa, aspen and piñon. There are up to 4 off-street parking spots depending on the size of the vehicles.
The house is walking distance to the spa at La Posada, or a short drive to 10,000 Waves in the foothills of the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. It is about 30 minutes from the casa door to the lift at Ski Santa Fe.

About Leigh Plesniak
I grew up on the east coast in a suburban community of New York. I've been in the West since I attended graduate school in San Diego, where I now live with my family. I was a Chemistry & Biochemistry Professor at the University of San Diego for many years but retired to spend more time with my family and to develop science enrichment activities for K-12 grades.
Leigh Plesniak purchased this House in 2012
Why Leigh Plesniak chose Historic Eastside
We have visited Santa Fe many times over the years as a family and I knew exactly where I wanted to buy a house. We are thrilled with this location. It's peaceful, has a rustic rural feel but we are minutes walking to the heart of Santa Fe, the plaza. We walk to restaurants, galleries and museums. We hike up the arroyo trails right out of the neighborhood into Ft. Marcy park. La Posada is nearby (0.5 mile) for a drink on the patio or a massage at the spa. We can take the shuttle to the Albuquerque airport or to the Opera from nearby the hotels.
What makes this House unique
Normally not an adventurous decorator, the Casa was finished with vibrant colors in the plaster walls. The colors gave me the license to be more playful with the art and furnishings. Our home is decorated with the art from a good friend's gallery in Albuquerque (Sumner & Dene) and from art that friends of ours have made. The natural burl edge kitchen table was crafted by a friend from a eucalyptus tree that was destined for the landfill, victim to a construction project in Rancho Santa Fe in San Diego County.

FANTASTIC - Even better than expected!!!!
Casa de Colores was even more beautiful than we expected. The pictures don't even do it justice!!! There was not one inch of that house that was not totally cool. It was comfortable, clean and inviting. The kitchen, front porch and back patio/fireplace were all great spaces to hang out and enjoy each other's company. Beds were super comfortable as well. We were a group of women that have been friends for over 40 years and take a vacation somewhere different every year. This house (and Santa Fe in general) was the perfect place for us to relax and reconnect. Mike, the guy who brought us to the house, was great. He recommended restaurants, showed us around and got us settled in the house. Our experience was a 12 out of 10 and we couldn't be happier!!!! I highly recommend this house and Santa Fe in general as a vacation spot!!!Thank you so much.
Wow! Thank you Karen. Thank you for your kind words.
Lovely and comfortable house with casita
We selected this home for a family get together that included 6 adults and 2 small children. It turned out to be an ideal choice. A fenced yard provided a safe play space for the small children and an outside kiva fireplace was a hit with the adults. A large kitchen/dining area was perfect for several group meals that we enjoyed preparing for ourselves during our stay. The master suite in the main house is especially nice. But the house and casita were roomy and comfortable and easily accommodated all of the family members. The property sits on a quiet street that can be a little tricky to find (especially at night), but it is a good location that is only a 0.8 mile walk to the Plaza. I would recommend this property with no reservations. I would also add that the owner was very responsive to several questions we had about check-in instructions upon our arrival. We had a great time staying at Casa De Colores.
Charming get-away. Great for a group.
We came to Santa Fe for a birthday celebration with a bunch of gals. Casa De Colores was a perfect choice. Lots of room, yet cosy and inviting. We didn't want to leave!
We loved it! Leigh was so personable and helpful in her emails. We had a great girls getaway!
Beautiful home, and so comfortable! Excellent location!
Charming,comfortable and great location
This charming property is, indeed, a house of colors incorporating the classic New Mexican style. Each person in our group mentioned how comfortable the beds were. There were great gathering spaces, a lovely fireplace and a great roomy and well supplied kitchen. It was an easy walk in to the town center. Also, compliments on the guest book with complete instructions and suggestions. Great stay.
Enchanting and perfectly outfitted Santa Fe home
This home was even more lovely than the photos show. We had multiple family members join us from across the country, and it worked well, including the casita. The living room kiva was a cozy place for relaxation and conversation (firewood and starters provided), and the long kitchen table a good hub. The kitchen was equipped with everything one could ever need for preparing coffee, meals and snacks. The bathtub in the master suite is huge! And interesting art throughout the house. Because of the chilly season, we did not take advantage of the outdoor fire area, but it must be wonderful. The location is excellent for neighborhood and Canyon Road walks and a quick drive to the Audubon Sanctuary for birders. Take note of the early checkout time.
Casa De Colores is located in the Plaza and Canyon Rd areas of Santa Fe, NM. Santa Fe is known for its unique historic and cultural heritage, which is shaped by a mixture of Pueblo and colonial Spanish influences. It has a thriving arts culture, chamber and orchestral music, as well as the famous Santa Fe Opera. The Plaza hosts many festivals during the summer, including Spanish Market and Indian Market. There is a spa at La Posada de Santa Fe within 0.5 mile walk and the famous Ten Thousand Waves Spa is a short 4 mile drive from the Casa. During winter opportunities for snowplay, cross-country and downhill skiing are nearby. The Ski Santa Fe is 15 miles up Hyde Park Road. Santa Fe is the also the home of innovative restaurants and New Mexican cuisine.
