Beautifully located to access all of what Calgary, Alberta has to offer, very clean and maintained

  • 5 of 5

A wonderful home to enjoy with high end amenities to make our stay joyful and comfortable. Everything we needed for quality family time from furnishings to quiet and beautiful spaces for private conversations and group interactions/gatherings. Grand art that gives you the sense of appreciation being in a unique environment while having access to wonderful gardens and private outdoors space. The location was so easily accessible from all modes of transportation and made travel to various venues we were visiting a pleasure.

Perfect location, comfortable, spacious, well-equipped accommodation.

  • 5 of 5

The Artists House is deceptively large with several sitting areas which allows everyone their own space if they need it. It is very nicely furnished and decorated. It has ample bedrooms and bathrooms to accommodate up to 10 people easily and the kitchen was well-equipped with everything we could need - and more! The outside areas are very well laid out with well-kept gardens and garden furniture. Although we had little opportunity to enjoy them during our visit due to unseasonable weather!! The neighbours were friendly and helpful and happy to pass the time of day - without being intrusive. The property is perfectly situated within easy travelling distance of Banff National Park and Lake Louise. Sikome Lake is lovely if you fancy a beach and a swim - spotlessly clean and well maintained and only $7 for the day. The local Heritage Centre was well worth a visit, much more to see than we expected. There are a few restaurants within walking distance, but driving around this area is very easy and simple to navigate anyway. I have to recommend Big T's Bbq a short drive away - so good we went there twice! We were visiting Calgary due to one of our party competing in the Roller Derby World Cup - otherwise I honestly don't think we would have thought of Calgary as a holiday destination. We were pleasantly surprised with how much this area has to offer and would love to visit again. Our only regret was not being able to visit Jasper, due to insufficient time. We would definitely visit this area again and wouldn't hesitate to stay in the Artists House a second time.

Ideal Home for Family or Large Group

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I booked the Artist's Home along with four other couples for the Calgary Stampede. This home is well furnished, and very clean. Several living areas inside and out offer lovely places to gather for visiting. The Nielsens provided prompt and detailed instructions for the use of the home and its amenities as well as good advice regarding restaurants, activities, and shopping. They thoughtfully left a welcome package with a kind note on the counter-- maps, broshures listing restaurants, activities, and attractions, three new kitchen towels, and a lovely bottle of Chianti.

We enjoyed being able to cook a full breakfast each morning before departing for the rodeo. There is a grill, but we did not have the opportunity to use it since our Canadian friends treated us to a BBQ, and our other meals were taken at Stampede. Located in a quiet residential neighborhood, the house is convenient to lovely walking trails, restaurants, pharmacies, and the Chinook Center as well as other shopping. One of our Canadian chums was so taken with the home that she wants to rent it for the overflow guests for her daughter's wedding. I highly recommend this home for a vacation stay in Calgary, but be warned, you will not want to leave. Many thanks to the Nielsens for sharing their home with us. Cheers!

The Artists House in Calgary - Perfect

  • 5 of 5

We recently attended a family wedding in Calgary, with 6 people from the Winnipeg branch coming in. We looked at other homes to rent, but were always drawn back to the Artist's House. The home and amenities seemed to be first class from the pictures, plenty of bedrooms, high end kitchen and bathrooms, beautiful back yard. Luckily it was available for our visit, and we booked it even though we were not quite sure precisely where it was located and all of the wedding activities were in South Calgary. After booking, the owners contacted us and helped us through the process. We received further communications and instructions on how to operate the various systems, tips on shopping and restaurants and other helpful hints, along with ways to communicate with them with questions or concerns. All in all everything was made extremely easy to acquaint ourselves with the upcoming rental, and the owners were great to deal with.

As it turned out the home was very easy to locate, in a nice neighbourhood just off McLeod trail in Southern Calgary, with east access to major routes, trams, shopping and so on, yet just far enough off McLeod to be very peaceful. Fish Creek Park is right by the house and our son loved going down there for a run and some quiet time.

The house came as advertised. Beautifully laid out, artwork everywhere, high end kitchen, high end bathrooms, beautiful back yard with a patio that reminds you of an Italian villa in wine country, giant foyer to keep your shoes/golf clubs etc., two living areas on either side of the kitchen, new laundry facilities in a separate room, another small living area downstairs. There simply is no fault to be found. There is a complete instruction manual that literally takes you through every machine, appliance, window operations and so on to make life easy. There was a welcome package with Calgary information and a nice bottle of wine (Thanks David and Holly) which was immediately consumed on the patio.

We completely enjoyed our stay. You could not ask for a better home to rent, from the house to its location to the communications with the owners. We highly recommend this home to any Calgary visitors, and if our gang ever comes back we will absolutely try to stay here.
