Unforgettable

  • 5 of 5

Thanks so much for the week at your lake house. It was fantastic. I have four adventurous kids and they had a blast also.

Caught many fish and a few were in the five to seven lbs range. Saw a bald eagle and an enormous golden eagle. Flew over the house and lake just over the tree tops. Must have been 15 foot wing span. Crazy. Felt like the wild north but all the comforts of a nice home and a relaxing time.

You are a great vaca home owner to work with. Not one issue. I have been renting vaca homes for 15 years and you top the list.

Thank you very much.

Great cabin!

  • 4 of 5

The cabin/home is beautiful and very comfortable! I would definitely stay again and would recommend it without hesitation! You could sleep a LOT of people very comfortably and there is plenty of seating inside for when you want to hang out or if the weather forces you in. The pond is amazing and full of fish and a couple of loons. Incredible sights and sounds. The paddleboat and kayaks provide plenty of entertainment; but I would recommend you bring a fishing pole. The very minor downsides: No internet (could actually have been a plus...). Weak cell phone coverage (again, could be a plus...) No fire pit (one was visible in the locked garage, but I did not inquire). Hot water not very hot, therefore runs out quickly. Again, those are small and I would stay again and highly recommend it!!

Excellent stay in middle of the best hunting area

  • 4 of 5

This was our second stay at this beautiful cottage on the lake. Had a good stay in the middle of the best hunting area. The renter was very hospitable and will stay there again. By the way the Shapleigh Corner Store is the best place to eat in Maine, you need to try.

quiet getaway

  • 5 of 5

We had a very nice stay at the cottage. It was exactly as described: well-stocked and clean. The pond is quiet and perfect for swimming, kayaking, relaxing and reading. The transaction with the owner couldn't have gone smoother. Highly recommend.

Fantastic getaway

  • 5 of 5

While we live only about 45 minutes away, we felt as though we were in a different world for a week (very relaxing). The pond is quiet (with easy access to the large lake), the neighbors friendly, and the owner attentive. We had an issue with the toilet not filling quickly enough on the second day. We notified the owner by email and he had someone fix it right away. We have four kids and we all felt we had plenty of space. The kids caught lots of fish both large and small at various places around the pond. My wife enjoyed reading while floating on the paddleboat in the middle of the pond. We all enjoyed swimming around the dock and relaxing on our floats. The sunsets were absolutely beautiful. We highly recommend this place.

Fishman's paradise

  • 5 of 5

This was a wonderful, comfortable waterfront house. Kitchen was set up with everything you might need. And even though we don't care about having cable TV while on vacation it was certainly nice at night and on rainy days.

We had brought up our own canoe and kayaks and with the two kayaks that were there to use we always had a boat for everyone to use. Days were spent basking in the sun on the dock or on floats we brought from home.

We are all fishermen and I would rate the fishing about a B+ this particular week. The bass really like the live minnows but we did catch plenty of fish with the rubber grubs and worms. Our biggest fish caught was a largemouth bass weighing in at almost 4 pounds.

At the other end of the pond there is a little body of water that proved to be a great fishing spot. If you don't mind dragging your boat over the little beaver dam it's a super place to fish or just explore. The kids saw a bald eagle in one of the dead trees just watching them.

If you are looking for plenty of rest and relaxation this would be the house for you.

Perfectly located so you don't spend too much time driving to the lakehouse but far enough to get away from it all - just two hours from Boston, an hour from the Kittery outlets, Portland, Old Orchard Beach amusement park, and 10 minutes to New Hampshire. This cottage rests on a great waterfront lot on the serene Goose Pond lake which is a 2 minute boat ride to the much more active Mousam lake.
