The cottage is on a quiet lane in a classic New England rural village sited on peninsula projecting into Narragansett Bay. The area offers magnificent sea views across idyllic pastures, dairies and farms. An easy walk leads to pristine Goosewing Beach, rated one of the top 5 best beaches in New England by Boston Magazine; it is a mile long and perfect for swimming, beach combing, sunning, kayaking and surfing. At night (with permit) one can have bonfires for a clam bake or cookout by the surf. Numerous nearby wildlife preserves, riding stables and nature trials offer bird watching, hiking and biking.
To the West, Newport with it's famous 'gilded age' mansions, well preserved colonial district, numerous boutique shops and art galleries are a wonderful day trip just 35 min. away. Bristol's stately homes and gardens and Colt Park in Warren are delightful and all in easy reach.

September through mid October is a glorious time at Hydrangea Cottage in Little Compton. There are fewer people on the nearby beaches, the Ocean is at it's warmest, the days are balmy, the nights cool and crisp. The fall harvest fills the shelves of road farm stands. There are no lines for area attractions including the Newport Mansions, historic sites and museums.
Sorry for the lateness of our response but with my work and my wife’s starting right after our return, we really got caught up in a jam, and couldn’t make time to give you an adequate reply.
Of course our stay at your wonderful cottage – plus the little surprises you left us, thank you so much for this very delicate attention – was nothing less than perfect. The setting of the rooms, the space, the number of bathrooms, the kitchen appliances and the living-room, EVERYTHING was so very much comfortable that we will not hesitate to contact you in a near future – perhaps as early as next year – to come back. Furthermore, since it was always sunny – who will complain? – we barely did anything else than go to the beach, enjoy, come back from the beach and relax. We would like to go around next time, even try other beaches since we always went to the same which is of very human proportion.
The towels were nice and soft as was the linen in our beds. The place was immaculate when we arrived and we tried to leave it as immaculate when we left.
So, to be sure, we will renew the experience with our three kids – who by the way are 30, 28 and 25! – as we love to spend one week during summer, just the five of us. Been doing that since the youngest was two, so over 20 years now. And I must say, your place was just one of the best we’ve been at, and by far.
Thank you for making it available.
Have an excellent end of summer!
The house was even better than expected - all amenities mentioned plus some not mentioned (beach chairs, etc). I went on a boat ride in Newport Harbor, ate at the Inn at Castle Hill in Newport (take a ride on 10 mile Ocean Dr if you haven't ever done so), jam was made from the blackberries on premises and we found several local restaurants to our liking. The owners were welcoming, helpful and an all 'round delight. I plan to do this again next year.

We had a great time at Hydrangea Cottage. It was so well appointed, clean
and comfortable. Loved the layout that afforded privacy for us and our adult
children and their spouses. Our favorite activity was going to Carolynn's
Sakonnet Vineyard. We visited three times, once on our own and one time each with our children as they came for the holiday. We got to the beach everday to walk and read. Goose Wing beach was worth making the short hike from the parking lot for a bit more of space and privacy as well as watching the birdlife nearby. We also visited the Historic Society in Little Compton and got the tour of the Wilbur House. We like local history and also drove over to Bristol to eat at a restaurant there (Christian's) and toured Blithewold. It was a very hot day so we did not linger over their gardens. We had the lovely gardens at Hydrangea Cottage to enjoy! They are stunning and always blooming!! Your outdoor patio was perfect for after the beach refreshments before dinner. You thought of everything and the binders contained all the information we needed including detailed maps to get to grocery shopping venues. Great beach house, we would definitely visit again with our family.
Had a wonderful stay at Hydrangea Cottage! Property is well maintained, spacious and just a short drive to the beach. Had our kids and grandkids visit, and everyone was impressed. Outdoor shower was a big hit! Would definitely recommend for a relaxing stay in Little Compton!
Thanks to the Bradys for sharing their beautiful home with us. It was exactly as shown in the pictures on line. The house was immaculate and included all of the comforts of our own home. The proximity to the beach was great and we were glad to be able to walk to it each day. We loved that there wasn't much traffic so we could walk our dog. We especially enjoyed the outdoor grill, deck & loved the landscaping. We would recommend this house for a quiet and relaxing vacation. Overall it was a great week.
Great home, clean, well built, fully equipped. Very communicative, understanding owner. Large open floor plan made 6 people feel like they had a lot of space. Near a couple nice beaches in RI and MA. Enjoyed the Newport mansions, Bristol bike path Bayside Restaurant. Would recommend to anyone. Loved the outdoor shower after a day at the beach. Fortunate to have great weather.
